Zach Brown Will Make Decision Soon

Brown can play, but he has baggage revolving around his personality

Brown can play, but he has baggage revolving around his personality

Brown hasn’t been the most sought after player, despite having a good season

The Dolphins hosted Linebacker Zach Brown earlier in the week. However, he left the facilities without a contract. He then went back to Buffalo to speak with them… it went for less than stellar. So, it’s down to a two pony race.

As of Saturday, he has narrowed his list of teams to the Oakland Raiders and Miami Dolphins. He met with both of these teams already, so this is a second time around giving Brown one last look at the two remaining contestants.

The Raiders signed former Dolphins linebacker Jelani Jenkins, and the Dolphins have restructured their contract with Koa Misi to bring him back next season at a reduced rate.

According to sources, which include close friend Jared Wormley, Brown is looking for a contract that would pay him around $6 million a year. It has been reported that the Dolphins are willing to pay him $3 to $4 million a year–and the Raiders offer was even below this amount. The Dolphins currently have around $19 million in available cap space and the Raiders currently have around $32 million in cap space, so just on the math, the Raiders have much more room to increase their offer if they so choose.

But, the Dolphins have a big tax advantage, so there’s that.

The big question is why does Brown have such low demand?

It will be very interesting to see how this situation develops. Most free bookie software fans are well aware that the Raiders and Dolphins need to improve their LB group, and there’s no doubt that Brown can help either team. The one wild card is that many sources have said that he is a bit rough around the edges in terms of personality, which could be a sticking point for both teams and a major reason why the Raiders and Dolphins have made low ball offers. Whatever happens, it appears that Brown will be making his decision within the next week. What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins news fans and best pay per head review websites’ thoughts about our chances of signing Brown and whether or not you are willing to have him on the team if there is unwanted baggage?

…the issue is whether he offers enough in run defense to offset any potential discord in the locker room …cap room is not the issue, push comes to shove they can cut Dion Jordan now and free 3.5 mil …that’s 23 mil cap to extend Landry, sign Brown, sign draftees, and still have change to sign any worthy waiver wire prospects

…so far, they’ve hung on to Jordan despite all the media gurus saying he was dead meat …no one in the current structure has any ties to his draft and subsequent failures …thus someone with pull must think he’s worth one last look in camp …he was once a prime prospect at both OLB and DE, both of which remain positions of need …imnsho, its Gase who is keeping him around for the moment

…but he’s there and so is his cap if needed elsewhere.

I think we have enough leaders on the defensive side in Wake,Suh and Jones. But I think he can make a huge difference to our linebackers and run defense. Plus we could draft bpa much easier if that spot was filled. They need to extend Landry but still have the money to maybe offer more in incentives but not a lot

Landry is a big one… I have to believe they will. Not so sure how much I like Brown though now. He seems to be a guy to get a contract then suck.
