Will the Dolphins Win 4 In A Row?

The Dolphins next 3 games are very winnable

The Miami Dolphins are coming off a huge upset over the Philadelphia Eagles with three winnable games ahead of them. Most of the media said the Dolphins were tanking and wouldn’t win a game this year. But with a 3-9 record, Miami could end up with five or six wins when all is said and done. What will these voices in the media say then?

After a game where the Dolphins wouldn’t quit, scored their most points of the season and outplayed a more talented Eagles team, the Dolphins have real momentum. Their next three opponents, Jets, Giants, and Bengals, are all struggling, so the best price per head software provider (AcePerHead.com) prediction of five wins in 2019 for the Dolphins might end up correct.

To kick off the last stretch of the season, Miami will head to New York for the next two weeks.

First, they face the Jets. Currently, the Dolphins are a +5.5 point underdog against the Jets this upcoming weekend. The action is actually coming in double on the Dolphins compared to the Jets. Unfortunately, this is usually a bad sign for the underdog because the public generally takes the favorite. Often, when they take the underdog it ends up being a sucker bet where the underdog loses and fails to cover. Still, the Dolphins destroyed the Jets in their first matchup, so this is a winnable game.

Then the Dolphins will play the Giants followed up by their last home game of the season against the Bengals. Both of these teams have a combined 3 wins and are ahead of the Dolphins in the current draft order. The Giants are on a 7 game losing streak, but I expect this game to be the toughest of the three. As for the Bengals, even though they won their first game last week, they aren’t good and will face Miami at home.

I expect the Dolphins to win at least two of these three games.

It will be interesting to see how it all ends up because if the Dolphins win the next 3 games, they’ll pick will fall outside of the top 10 in the draft. Funny how it’s win-win for the Dolphins. If they lose they’ll move up to key spots in the draft… and if not they’ll shock everyone with their win total.

A great staff is more valuable than the top pick in the draft

The good news behind any loss of draft position is Brian Flores will have proved to be a better Head Coach than Joe Philbin and Adam Gase. Although, I think he’s already proved that. Making more with less is a sure sign of good coaching.

Flores and his staff have preached discipline and proved it’s more than just talk. In addition, this staff has managed to get very good production from three high-end draft picks in Parker, Gesicki, and McMillian who were verging on being busts. As the cherry on top, Flores has been aggressive and installed the Patriot-way of putting players in a position to maximize their talents.

This staff has proved they have a plan and come hell or high water they are sticking to it. I say Flores is already miles ahead of ‘Queasy’ and ‘Taco’.

In the NFL it takes two to tango

With the right guy at Head Coach, this offseason is even more critical. No matter how good a coach is, it takes talent to keep the job. This will be the most exciting offseason in decades. If Chris Grier does his job, Miami will make real noise in a season or two. Sure the Dolphins need a ton of help but look at the 49ers. They were 4-12 last season and are 10-2 this season. In the NFL teams can turn it around fast with the right offseason moves and the right staff to coach them.

With all the money and draft picks the Phins have, I wouldn’t be surprised if this staff can get this team to over .500 next season. Despite the ugly record, it does feel like Miami has won this season. In my mind, whatever happens over the next couple of weeks is the icing on the cake.

What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins News fans thoughts on how this season will end?

    Hello Admin and Dolphins Fans

Many fans are focused on LSU etc. But this game below is supposed to be the nations top Oregon’s offensive line vs top Utah’s defensive line.

    No. 5 Utah (11-1) vs. No. 13 Oregon (10-2)
Friday, 8 p.m. ET on ABC

Kyle Whittingham’s team has received great production from quarterback Tyler Huntley and running back Zack Moss. The defense has a lot of NFL Draft talent as well, including safety Terrell Burgess and cornerback Jaylon Johnson.

Justin Herbert, who has the potential to be a first-round pick. His offensive line, including seniors Calvin Throckmorton and Shane Lemieux, is also loaded with prospects. Two of the team’s sophomores — safety Jevon Holland and left tackle Penei Sewell — are potential first-round picks in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Rain is forecast during this game which may affect the passing game. Its been stated that Oregon has the Best offensive line in college and Utah has the best defensive line in college. John Penisisni IDL, Francis Bernard LB may be undrafted. ***Leki Fotu IDL UTAH is slotted 2nd to 3rd rounder. ****Bradlee Anae Edge rusher a 3rd rounder. Safeties Julian Blackmon and Terrell Burgess 6th to 7th rounders.

I would give the UTAH the win they are more of a complete team offensively and defensively.

I’m hearing more and more about Herbert… need to watch him too. He has a big game today against a good D…

        Hello Admin

Utah was ranked number 5 and was whipped out of the playoff talked by a number 12 Oregon. For myself It is very difficult to predict how the Quarterback will performed from game to game and once they are drafted. For instance the QB for Utah Tyler Huntley has only thrown two intersection for the season but threw 1 or 2 last night. My assessment Admin he chocked! When that happens the night will be along night.

from the first quarter it was clear this would be a long night for the favored Utes. The Ducks jumped out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back thanks to a nice game plan by coach Mario Cristobal. Oregon focused heavily on inserting quarterback Justin Herbert into a read-option scheme that kept the Utes’ normally stout run defense — which ranked No. 1 in the country — reeling. That allowed running back C.J. Verdell to rush for 208 yards and three touchdowns, including the 70-yard fourth-quarter dagger and another 31-yard score to ice the game for good. But Utah didn’t help itself, either. Offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig made some good second-half adjustments by getting Moss the ball through the air, but it was too little too late by then. Oregon had an answer for Moss on the ground and Utah didn’t have the weapons to overcome that. The Utes were also poor on third and fourth downs, shot themselves in the foot repeatedly with eight penalties, including a costly false start that led to a blocked punt. The thing is, Oregon didn’t even play its best game until the final 15 minutes. The Ducks had plenty of opportunities to step on Utah’s throat and couldn’t, and yet Utah couldn’t fully take advantage.

Justin Herbert perform well enough to get drafted by the Dolphins. Herbert was one of my favorites early 2018 season.

You wrote Despite the ugly record, it does feel like Miami has won this season I can agree partially Just like Armando Salguero stated
    SEPTEMBER 30, 2019 05:51 PM
We all know it’s not just about having high picks. It’s about making the right picks and then developing those players into stars.

Admin for myself it remains to be seen can the Fins make the right picks, I don’t see a problem with Flores developing the players.

    • admin

That’s always the case. More often than no the best player of the draft isn’t in the Top 5. I really like Marvin Allen. I also think Flores spending so much time in scouting is important too.

      • Steve

        Admin I hear you Brother!

We really need the scouting and management to performed well. The remainder of games could placed the Dolphins at 7th to 13th picked like you stated.

Player L/B-Edge-Safety-Corner Isaiah Simmons can play every down. Heisman finalists Johnathan Taylor 31 out of 39 games he rushed for over 100 yards the 1st player to ever do this and Jalen Hurst a Heisman Finalist,. Played last three seasons at Alabama and helped Crimson Tide to 41-3 record (26-2 mark as a starter in 2016 and ‘17) loss job to Tua now at Oklahoma with 11-1 record 2019 adapts and handle adversity well on and off the field. Erased a 25 point deficit at Baylor in a come from behind to win game and did the same come from behind at Kansas state 48 to 41 score clock ran out. After Joe Burrow’s and Chase Young those are undisputed next group of elite players that will start Day 1 with the Dolphins.

1st Round: Steelers: 14th Isaiah Simmons*, OLB, Clemson https://youtu.be/nPdTYP3ssJk;https://clemsontigers.com/sports/football/roster/isaiah-simmons/
1st Round: Titans 23rd Jonathan Taylor*, RB, Wisconsin https://youtu.be/ he went for 200+ rushing yards for the 11th time in his career.
        1st Round: Dolphins: 37th Jalen Hurts https://youtu .be/MOo9iJ8RYWM —-https://youtu.be/p6IaeTH-15M

Brian Fitzpatrick has proven being mobile enough has kept him from being murdered on the field and to keep or make plays behind one of the worst O/L in the NFL should be a requirement for the Dolphins QB’s.

    Hello Admin and DolFans!

Very nice article Admin and yes the Dolphins can win 4 straight. I’m viewing the remainder of the season as a coin toss win or loss because I don’t know.

    What I do know:
Flores now has four Super Bowl rings from his decade-and-a-half long career with the Patriots. Like you stated above. No matter how good a coach is, it takes talent to keep the job.

Chris Grier decision in Free Agency and this 2020 draft will define his success if the Dolphins can win 5 to 6 games by having a piece mill 2019 team.

Then its unacceptable to have less than 10 to 11 wins next 2020 season after drafting (3) 1st rounders and 2 second rounders plus 9 other draftees.

    • Steve

      Admin and Dol-Fans

You wrote Dolphins win the next 3 games, they’ll pick will fall outside of the top 10 in the draft.
Outside of the top 10 picked means 13th picked is has been the Averaged for the Dolphins over two decades. We stripped the team and did not gained a top picked.

We Dol-Fans can live with that! What would be difficult to accept is to trade picks to get into the top 5?

Not having the number one or two spot and then falling outside of the top ten would be beneficial for the Dolphins I truly believed.

      • admin

Look at the Steelers, Seahawks, Pats, ect. They make the most of what they have and it’s always late picks. If the Phins ever want to be legit they must do the same. Yeah, that top pick is sweet if it comes from the last regime that sucked and was fired for it. But, very few regimes have come from 0-16 or 1-16 and made something of themselves. Usually, the next regime inherits the player from that pick. Dallas and Jimmy is the only one I can think of… sure there are more… but not many.

  • Van E Hamlin

Omar Kelly made some very unfair and inaccurate statements this week about Coah Flores. I said a few weeks ago that this team could win 5 games due to coaching and players responding to coaching.
Kelly failed to acknowledge the Dolphin game plan. Grier cut and traded to a place where he was left with those no one wanted. The roster has experienced 70 changes in personnel. What we have left is the best of the worst. That’s okay though because we have plenty of cap room. As. The right players become available, the team can improve their roster wisely.

In addition, some of the players have improved and may now be keepers. It is important to reward the team for their hard work by winning the winnable games. It gives them confidence in themselves and the coaches.
Omar Kelly just doesn’t get it.

    • admin

I like Omar, but I think he gets in the way of his writing and analysis. Being objective is the key… it will win out in the long run. He was too invested in the tank and is having a hard time reeling it back. Many writers though are in the same boat. I find it refreshing that the coach proved me wrong for not believing in him. I was hard on the Flores wagon, but jumped off after the Skins game… I was wrong. That’s okay. But many writers can’t admit it and if they do they can’t offer a mea culpa… they just pretend like they never even heard of the tank. This was a total gutting. They sold everything they could get more value on and evaluated everything. They are at the foundation now and Flores has the com. He has earned it and everyone is on board. It’s like the old bull and young bull looking at the cows parable. Flores and Grier have decided to follow the advice of the old bull… we’ve spent too many years following the wisdom of the young bull. We have found plenty of players for the future… we do need some start to add on though, but that’s what the draft is for. The skeleton is here… might take two seasons to flesh it out though, Van.
