Will Arian Foster End Up A Part Of Gase’s Stable?

For the right price, will Arian Foster be a part of Gase's stable?

Is there any gas in the tank left of this once excellent back?

For the right price, will Arian Foster be a part of Gase’s stable?

The Dolphins are definitely serious about finding other running backs to pair with their current starter, Jay Ajayi. Tuesday, Arian Foster is visiting the Miami facility. And since Adam Gase has stated that he wants a stable of backs, and will Arian Foster end up a part of Gase’s stable?

Foster’s a big name, a big name that’s still rehabbing a week 4 torn Achilles tendon – and on top of that, he will turn 30 August. Foster has proven to be a superior running back, but he’s been injured the last three season, only playing in 25 out of a possible 48 games. Regardless of age, the fact is that when healthy, Foster can be one of the best backs in the game. Of course, even the most daring football gambling fans are reluctant to bet on that.

In 2014, he played in only 13 games, however he still was able to rush for 1,246 yards, 8 touchdowns and a 4.8 yards per carry average, and on top of that he was a threat in the passing game with 38 catches for 327 yards and another 5 touchdowns. Foster is only a season removed from that outstanding 2014 season. Also, don’t forget that this fine season was after he suffered a season ending back injury of 2013 season. Foster, even though injury prone, has the ability, and determination to recover to his top form, even after a serious injury.

Signing Arian Foster would be just one more gamble in this river boat off season.

Foster would be a perfect fit in Miami’s zone-stretch blocking scheme, something that he is very familiar with from his days as a Texan. In addition, Foster is more of a finesse, patience runner, who would be an excellent compliment to the more downhill and punishing running style of Ajayi.

Should Miami sign Foster? Maybe for the right price to lay a role in the stable with Ajayi, Williams and a rookie. Will Miami sign him? Maybe, but not during Tuesday’s visit. It does show that they are interested to see if there is a fit down the road when Foster is ready – or if they can’t find anything better. I sure hope they do. Go Fins!!!

  • Why can’t the Dolphins draft a 1st round back??? Why are they looking for damaged goods??
Seem’s like they are already scrambling to put a team together that is patch work. Comm”on
There are three to four top running backs available. Including the back from Stanford!!!
enough of trying to place a current running back that other team’s have dropped from there roster. When will we learn…..

Daniel, I have this wierd thing in my head that Miami is trying to do what Jimmy Johnson did with Moss in the Draft…find an excuse not to HAVE to draft him. I am probably wrong but it seems like if they thought Elliot was SO good they would have done more to sty in his reach. I think he is falling and might even be there at 13 and they want a rationale not to draft him…like I said I am probably totally wrong! I think they will DEf. draft one, but they don’t want to draft one in the first. Also, I not a fan of Foster getting picked up,even though there is a slim chance it could be a good signing.
