Where to now?

After another dreadful performance, the question is what to do now?

With a 4-6 record, the chance for a playoff birth is pretty much nonexistent. After overachieving in the first half of the season, the Dolphins have now lost 3 games in a row and appear to be regressing on both sides of the ball.

I’m actually confused because the offense is getting worse, the turnovers are pilling on, and the defensive line who used to be a strength is letting running backs run wild on them. The first 5 games the Phins only gave up 307 yards on the ground, however in the last 5 games, they have given up 661 yards on the ground. The offense was limited to only 184 yards against the Bills, and they once again turned the ball over 3 times. In the NFL you will never win games turning the ball over that much. Then to add a little more salt to the wound Nolan Carroll was penalized 4 times for 56 yards. This is unacceptable and proves we desperately need a CB.

Also what happened to our running game, and Reggie Bush. They were only able to get 60 yards on the ground, and 20 for Bush. At the beginning of the season, it looked like our running back position was pretty solid, now it appears we need to be looking for a starting RB, along with a laundry list of other positions we need improvement on.

Lastly, Ryan Tannehill is officially in a slump tacking on 2 more interceptions at critical points in the game. I truly hope this is purely just growing pains, and that he will be able to correct these mistakes. The scary part is that when Chad Henne first started, flashed potential, and we all know how that panned out. I hope and pray this is not what we are seeing from RT, a guy with potential but not enough ability to reach his potential. Personally I believe RT is our guy and will find a way to right the ship. The football betting software strategy is that the rest of the season is going to have lots of ups and downs and probably more downs.

Here’s what youre not seeing. Let me give you the football perspective on all this.

D’s have booked the fins WCO and Sherm’s tendencies. Theyve seen enough now and are scheming to Fins’ glaring weakness on O, which is WR, TE, and RT.
So D’s are playing very tight man under 2 deep, and stacking the box w 8. So opponents have decided to take the run away and force Tanny to throw to WR’s that are blanketed. Because the OL cant block an 8 man front, it has virtually shut down Fins offense.

Opponents offenses have learned that Coyle’s blitzes are the same basic blitzes and he calls them predictably. The A gap blitz, nickle corner, weakside S. That’s it. Offenses have seen fins CB’s cant cover. When fins play zone opponents run, when fins are in man coverage they pick on our corners with favorable matchups.

Fins DL is stout at the T positions but you can get the edge vs Wake, Misi, and Odrick. Burnett and Dansby are agile coverage type LB’s that can be run on if straight at them forcing them to tackle.

Until WR’s can beat tight man coverage, and the OL able to block an 8 man front (requires scrapping off blocks getting to second level – which niether Incognito nor Jerry are adept at), this offense is going to struggle scoring points and moving the ball consistently.

Fins have no talent – period.

They have some talent but not enough.

ok, where? What talented player do the fins have? I mean “talented” in that they consistently win matchups, consistently make plays, impact the opponents scheme or play…you know…real talent. Who? The only one that comes close but is not consistent is Wake. Otherwise, nada. zilch.

what about Dansby, and Pouncey, and even Solai.. this is sad but Fields is probably one of our best players. Also Bess is one of the better slot receivers in the league….. yeah maybe these guys are not at the key positions, like QB, CB, Safety and Rb, but these guys are talented and could start for any team in the league and do well

      PhinFreak.

I’m with you that the Fins lack talent, but your explanation of why they’re getting shut down doesn’t jive considering you can only play 11 at one time on D. You can’t play 8 in the box with tight man and a cover 2. That’s 12 guys on the field minimum which is against the rules. The rest of what you said is ok, but dude, take a chill pill. Anyone with an IQ over 40 knew we weren’t going to be real good this year because…we lack talent at the skilled positions. Also, if you look back at who we beat, they were not good teams. Relax, drink a beer (or 10) and let things unfold. Lets hope Tannehill progresses through this and the Fins address their glaring needs in the off season.

yeah man I agree we are what we are and hopefully this team can at least pull it together for the remainder of the season to show some promise

When I had my coffee this morning, I grabbed the milk from the fridge and noticed Lamar Miller’s face on the side. He’s averaging 5-6 yards per carry. Do we need a banner to fly over Dolphins Stadium to remind Philbin that Miller is still on our roster?
