Update: Ross Very “High” On One Coach

download

It seems from multiple “sources” reported from the Miami Herald that Stephen Ross is of an extreme high opinion of one coach so far. This “high” is working in conjunction with an two and half hour sit down that Tannenbaum had with Jimmy Johnson, where he took explicit note on a wide range of topics – most notably what it takes to be a good coach. Also, last night Adam Gase was interviewed and it appears to have sealed this “high” on him being the front runner to the H.C. job in Miami.

As per the “sit down” with Jimmy Johnson, intelligence was the prime requisite along with hard work and passion – experience didn’t seem to play a major role.  These prerequisites, along with his “QB Guru” status, being a member of the Parcell’s coaching tree along with Tannenbaum, and now the personal interview seem to have cinched his status, at least up to this point.

This though runs counter to Tannenbaums recent proclamation that history will play a huge part in his decision.

History as we know has shown – and it doesn’t take the best sportsbooks in the world of the NFL to see – one after another NFL rookie H.C. without experience fail big: Philbin, Sparano,Cameron, and Saban. It’s not to say we haven’t had to also witnessed our fair share of NFL experienced head coaches fail either. But, it’s the understanding of the NFL game and the NFL player and how to manage them that is crucial and very few can rebound after a bad first impression – most notably Tom Coughlin found a way to rebound big. This is probably why Campbell had near equal success as Philbin despite Philbin’s vast difference in coaching experience.

In the end it’s all a gamble, but Ross’ instincts have been as off as blood hound with a nose packed full of pepper – so I am ye of little faith. But, none of this even means Gase is interested in the gig as he has many suitors. The interview process will extend into next week and maybe Ross’ “high” will blow in a different direction – but as of now, it would seem if it were Ross’ way Adam Gase would be helming the Fins next year.

    Hello Dolpfans!

We had our input So now!

Let’s Welcome our New Head Coach Adam Gase aboard for a Successful career with the Dolphins.

** Hopefully he will have a clear understanding what is ask from him But will he have the players to reverse the curse of mediocre.

The reality is that the Dolphins have been mediocre or worse dating back to the Chad Pennington, Ronnie Brown and Tony Sparano days. They also play in the same division as Tom Brady and the Patriots.

**The Dolphins really need to stop their foolishness and Invest in another Brandon Albert and invest in a OG in free agency. In the draft also 1st two picks should be another Tackle and OG Seriouly!

**Figure out away to draft Alex Collins from Arkansas RB (I think he can be 60% of the Dolphins Offense Seriously**.
    http://espn.go.com/blog/sec/post/_/id/112983/overlooked-and-underrated-arkansas-rb-alex-collins-is-one-of-the-secs-best

** Safety net: Injury, Regrease performance, while learning on the bench A Cardal Jone or
135th picked Kevin Hogan QB Stanford Q/B to take over if Managment investment QB does not lead and rally the Dolphins offense.

PS: Coach Gase better protect himself with A QB to come in when the Dolphins fall back into their Mediocre performance! Philbin and Campbell Sunk playing Tannehill. My facts or base on Dolphins past history.

Another newbie HC, makes me nervous. The newbie coaches that we ave hired in the past have not worked out at all. Also another newbie defensive coordinator (can’t be any worse than last years “D”, so not to concerned there). Vance Joseph is coming from a respectable staff that has experienced a lot of success. Gase seems to have his defensive staff already together which is pretty impressive on a short notice. There should not be an issue with motivation, as he is by far the youngest HC in the league, a relatively young DC also. Joseph bringing w him his LBer coach from Cincy, Matt Burke, DL coach from Chicago Clint Hurtt, and DB coach Jerome Henderson from Dallas. I am impressed that he has his staff already in place.

Gase did make it work w Tebow, into the playoffs and advance to the second round w Tebow. As much as I am soured on Tanny, he is head and shoulders better then Tebow, another positive outlook. Also, prior to this season, everyone had given up on Jay Cutler as were the Bears themselves and Gase helped Cutler have his best pro career, another positive outlook. And, (I know its Peyton) Peyton Manning experienced his best years the last 2 years w Gase and Peyton is looking pretty average at best this year without Gase, another positive outlook.

I am an optimist, so I would have probably supported any hire, however; Gase was the hottest assistant out there. Personally I would have taken Coughlin, but Gase seems to be everything you look for in a HC.

I hope they at least keep Dan the Man on the staff.
These comments have been spot on..

Thanks brother and yeah Dan will stay because Tannenbaum is running the show. Looks like it will be Gase as per NFL and he is having a second meeting and holding off an Eagles second meeting.

I smell smoke. But then again, this is the moron Ross we’re talking here….Gase is a OC, period. Given Tannenbaum wants a “yes” man, and one that has the label of a QB whisperer to put lipstick on the Tannehill pig that Tannenbaum over paid…you can all see the politics in all this.

Nothing changes folks…Ive said it here many times…so long as Ross is the owner.

    …rumors, rumors, and more rumors

…but if it were true, I’d have to be sceptical

…I mean, really, Ross has demonstrated bad football sense in almost every move he’s made …am I supposed to think this time will be different?

…now if you told me Ross was down on a candidate, there might be some hope 🙂

…if its not Campbell, then it should be, imnsho, an experienced NFL HC with a career winning record and the ability to get at least a veto on any player moves including draft picks

…of course, anyone with those creds will have other, almost certainly better, options

…we’re likely to get the leftovers …and worse yet, a leftover that Ross likes

  • Ralph

Don’t know this coach at all
Hope he is hungry enough and not just another politically correct yes man like Philbin was
But that seems to be Ross’s MO
To like and hire politically correct administrators and that is certainly not what we need
Let’s hope whoever gets hired is not a Philbin clone and is a lot better evaluator of talent than Philbin was

Agree Ralph…on the fence with Gase. He worked Tebow, Manning with the shift to more of a running game, and now Culter, but that should be a OC/QB coach job. We’ll see….
