To Bench or Not to Bench?

sports gambling

The silent chatter about benching Ryan Tannehill, has increased to a more loud talking level, and is quickly approaching a deafening screaming level. On Monday Philbin declined to comment on whether Tannehill would start or not against Oakland this upcoming Sunday in London. Some sports betting software like Ace Per Head  fans would like to read deeply into this, however if anyone knows Philbin, then they know he does not comment on any of those types of internal team decisions to the media.

The better guess is that Philbin sticks with Tannehill for a few more games, and then makes his decision after that. However, if Philbin decides to pull the trigger now, and bench Tannehill, then this would all but seal Tannehill’s fate as the team’s franchise QB. Tannehill has not played well in his first 3 games, but he has also not played terrible enough to warrant a benching yet. In 3 games he has only thrown 2 interceptions, so I would not really consider that a QB that is making terrible decisions and needs to be benched. His biggest problem seems to be his accuracy, which is a bit of a head scratcher, because besides the deep ball he has proven to be a pretty accurate QB in his first two seasons in the league. If I had to guess, a large part of the accuracy problem is probably from Tannehill having to learn a new offense for the first time in his career. Also this offense has a lot more timing routes where the QB is throwing to spots compared to Sherman’s previous offense.

In addition the Dolphins are 1-2, and have lost their last two games by playing down right terribly, and unfortunately for Tannehill, the QB is the number one scapegoat when a team is not winning or playing well. Besides Tannehill not playing up to expectations, the receivers are leading the league in drops, and the defense can not defend against the run or tackle ball carriers. The special teams is probably the worst of the bunch because it lost some of its key contributors from last season, due to being cut or players being moved to a starting role on the defense because of significant injuries to previous starters. So to put the Dolphins poor performance squarely on Tannehill’s shoulders is not entirely fair, because this is a team sport and as a team they have not played well in many different aspects of the game.

I am not sure if a trip across the pond is going to change the way the Dolphins have been playing lately, but something needs to be done quickly, because if this team does not improve in all facets of the game, then this season will be a lost cause and Tannehill and Philbin will be the first two scape goats to be shown the door. Tannehill has to start showing improvement in his game, but he also needs his teammates to start helping him out by catching balls thrown at their hands, and the defense and special teams need to start tackling better. If the Dolphins are going to turn this season around, then they need the whole team, including the coaching staff to start improving.

This is all getting so old. As much as I would like to support Philbin and his staff, I am losing faith in a hurry. If Tanny is not the man than make the move. As much as I do not want to go through another house cleaning, I believe it may have to happen. I like the team Hickey has put together, and I hope he stays given his first year approach. Another house cleaning looks as though it must happen, and that includes Tanny. Maybe Hickey can go get Glennon from his former team. He can throw it with much better consistency. Should Tanny not workout, another Ireland pick gone by the way side. Thanks again Parcells

THill has no leadership skills, neither does Coach Phiblin. Since there is no clear leader on that whole team, then we dont have a team trying to win games. What we have are workers just doing their job just like the average JOE, you know JOE…hes the kind of guy that will punch in after lunch and head for the bathroom for 15 mins, he comes to work a few mins late every other day and if the boss is not around hell sit down and smoke a cig. That describes the attitude on the Miami Dolphins locker room/

Dolphins Beat a very good team week one. They can do again to the play
offs I think. They are a great Team! It’s Still Early!

I’m not the coach! It is clear that the team is not playing well. I do believed that the Dolphins need to learned how to Win.

    Basic factors in winning:
    1. Practice harder than your opponents
    Defensively
    a. Tackling
    b. Take A ways, Take A ways, Take A ways

    Offensively
    a. Just move the chains (will always keep your opponent bench)!
    b. Get the ball to your play makers,
    c. Put a Full back in the offense
    d. Play multiple QB’s in the game (without being obvious)
    e. The Pittsburgh Steeler *70’s* bench Terry Bradshaw many
games and it sure developed him into one of the Great QB’s.
    f. Tannehill really should run the ball more. Hey still moving the
    chains

    Special Teams

    1. Study The old Washington Red Skins under George Allen
    2. Score, Score, Score, Score on special team (not enough effort)

    Player Talents
Coach to player talents and gifts

Dolphins have more of a confidents problem than any thing.

As a FAN we want Dolphins To Win and win losing it is Okay But how
you Lose, Don’t give a game away by lack of effort.

PS: Don’t have pass rushers guarding pass receivers?????????? setting
    them up for failure.

I’ve said since day one that Matt Moore deserves to start for our favorite Fins. IMO, THill has done absolutely nothing to prove me wrong.

Cool website are you using word press? I also have a blog that’s about video games. named gamerspeek.com.

About Tannehill he doesn’t need to be benched, he needs to play out the season just to see what we have in him. if he sucks lets just be 4 and 12 and select a QB with the first 7 picks. If he pulls himself out of a funk and team ends up 10 and 6 hopefully we have a franchise guy. I personally doubt it, hopefully I’m wrong.

You make a good point, might as well go down with the ship and let him play it out, if he sucks we are drafting a QB next season anyway. And might as well be in position to draft one of the better QB’s avaialable
