Tannehill Has No Protection In OTA’s… And It’s A Good Thing

Tannehill isn’t wearing protection in OTA’s

Tannehill needs mobility to be at his best

The predictions of success are mixed for the Dolphins. But all the pay per head reviews like AcePerHead.com agree the Phins season will boil down to how Ryan Tannehill playsMobility will be essential to his success.

All eyes are and will be on the health of Tannehill’s repaired left knee. The concern will only stop several games into the season.

Despite reassurances, many are still fixed on his knee injury in 2016. It’s the greatest concern to the Dolphins success in 2018, for sure. The reinjury in 2017 has hyped that concern to a frenzy.

To be frank, Tannehill’s reinjury last year did leave me a bit leery going into this season. After hearing that the knee “wasn’t a problem”, again and again in 2017, the doubting Thomas had me worried.

But seeing Tannehill come out without a brace though is enough to be a believer, again.

Tannehill’s knee is healed and almost as good as new

Many say healthy or not, Tannehill isn’t a franchise QB. But even his detractors have to admit he’s the Dolphins best shot to win this year, given the roster. And his detractors must also admit that before he was injured things appeared to begin clicking.

This is why Tannehill showing up without a brace is a very good sign. This reduction of this injury concern is one less issue for the Miami faithful to fixate on. Yes, he will wear it during games… but I still find it a good sign that he doesn’t need it for protection from the rigors of movement.

No brace means full confidence expressed through action. Talk is cheap as last year proved.

It has been well over a year since he’s played a game. At least now, it’s about how quickly can he knock the rust off… not will his knee hold up? Tannehill moving around without hindrance or concern to protect his knee sure is a good sign. And let’s be clear, if there was even the slightest concern from the medical staff or doctors, he’d be ‘knee braced up’.

Backup QBs are a big drop off in quality

A lot of jobs are riding on this upcoming season and neither Osweiler, Fales, or Petty inspire much confidence. Tannehill is Plan A, B, C, and D.

Not investing a high draft, or any draft pick for that matter, on a potential replacement, was a risk. So it’s Tannehill or bust, folks. At least the OTA’s have brought the good news of health.

The Dolphins brass has a ton of confidence in Tannehill, but they were just crazy for not investing in a Plan B. Sorry folks but the backups will be lucky to even tread water if #17 goes down. Of course, you can always cling to the hope that maybe Gase will reclaim his ‘QB Whisperer’ title? I doubt that this will help Phins fans sleep well at night. I’m not saying it won’t or can’t happen. It’s more about a desperate and understandable jaded fan base.

Good things always seem to happen to other team’s these days. Maybe those days are over?!

No ifs, ands, or buts, #17 is front and center of the ‘time to prove it’ crowd. Thankfully, he’s coming out of the shoot clean. At this early juncture, this is the best you could hope for.

Lack of an Offensive Line, no running game, a new system, receivers who don’t do what they’re told, and rookie H.C. are all off the table as excuses now. It’s put up or shut up time. Phinsnews sees a big surprise for the fan base. While OTA’s are just a speck on the mountain of the season, it’s a good start for sure. Go Phins!!!

I think Miami views Amendola as a similar player and that’s why the pushed so hard to bring him in.

He has endured alot. I would still keep a brace just for support and protection. People will have an opinion regardless.

Yeah, he will wear it game time because it’s his lead leg… but thankfully, he doesn’t need to move around. That means there’s a load of belief that it’s very near as good as new.
