Take Nothing For Granted

The Dolphins will make a small trip to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars at 4pm on Sunday. They are looking to go 2-0 for the second time in Coach Philbin’s 4 years as head coach. The Jaguars are not a playoff caliber team and the Dolphins should win this game; BUT nothing is a given in the NFL, and Miami can’t play lackadaisical if they want this win.

Miami must come out strong against the Jaguars. On offense they need to commit to the running game and give Lamar Miller at least 15 carries. Personally, I think he should at least get 20 carries and at least one or two screen passes, however this is not something the Dolphins have been able to do in Miller’s 4 years with the team. Even if the yards per carry aren’t stellar, we need balance, clock control and physicality that the run game brings.

On defense the ‘Phins need to stuff the run and then get pressure on Bortles – the normal M.O. of very good D-lines. Sure it sounds easy saying it and it’s a whole other thing to actually do it, but the 2015 Dolphins DL was billed as something special: this week is the time to show it. Against the Washington, our defensive line was man handled by the skins offensive line. We were only able to generate one sack, and were gashed for over 160 yards on the ground. Suh and Co. need to take this personal, step it up, and take over this game. Bortles was sacked 5 times last week against the Panthers, and there is no reason, why the ‘Phins talented defensive line can not match or exceed that number this week.

The best sportsbooks in the world opened this game with the Dolphins as a -4.5 road team favorite. The line subsequently jumped to -6 for ‘Phins and is currently staying steady at that number. The action is coming in heavily lopsided on the Dolphins. Unfortunately for Miami Dolphins news fans is not the best, because when the public goes so heavily on one side, then usually the other side covers. I have no problem with the Dolphins not covering as long as they win. I hope that Miami comes out and wins by double digits, and plays like a playoff team, but I believe this game will be closer than it should. My prediction is that Miami wins by two field goals, what does the rest of the Miami Dolphins news fans think will be the outcome of this game?

Freak, Go ahead, say “I told you so”

Sorry fellow Fins fans. I am as die hard as a fan there is, and have been for ever. We will not go any where with the CURRENT STAFF!!! Not a single adjustment throughout the game, not a single adjustment from last week. Coyle should find his own way home and Philbin has cost this team yet another game with his stupidity before half.
I dare this staff to prove me wrong, won’t happen. Mediocrity is easy, and that is all we will be under THIS STAFF.
    Absolutely pathetic.

If we only win by 2 field goals then we are in big trouble
That would mean we might finish with 6 wins and 10 losses because if we cannot generate offense against the 4th or 5th worst team in the NFL we are in for a very long season specially against AFC East teams.

I personally think we will wake up and play much better than last week, and win by 20 points or better

Winning on the road, as well as second straight road game in the NFL regardless whom the opponent is, does not equate to 5/6 wins!!! This is the NFL, and any team at any time at any place is capable of playing well enough to beat anyone. Just get out of JVille w/a win and focus on Buffalo. A 2-0 start is what any team would like regardless who/what/where/when. Teams do not go into their games looking to win by X amount of points against anyone. Improve on a week by week basis.
So if Miami wins by 2 and starts 2-0, you mean they will only win 3/4 more game the remainder of the season? Not so sure that will be the case.
Take care of business Fins, start 2-0 (regardless the score) and start to prepare for our home opener vs a division team = Buffalo!!!

Just to piggy back off Dunner and also you: winning by 2FG’s under the current situation of injuries and jags fierce DL, on the road (back to back) would be a victory due to the difficulty, BUT to support your point Ralph: a GREAT team would/ should be able to take the Jags to the woodshed in spite of the challenges. A victory is a near must, but the way we win will demonstrate the potential caliber of this coaching staff and team…GO FFFFFIIIIINNNNSSS!!!!
