Staying Positive As Phins Face Bills

It’s been a long season already… let’s talk about some Phins positives

The Dolphins almost picked up their first win of the season–almost. But the 4th QTR heroics of Ryan Fitzpatrick made it entertaining right to the buzzer. While some think the Phins should have kicked the extra point, at least Coach Flores showed that he is trying to win games. A well-timed onside kick (again a penalty nullified it), benching his starting quarterback to give the team a spark and going for two instead of kicking the extra point for the tie, shows Flores wants to win.

First of all, I love the aggressiveness. Even though all the per head solutions sites say this is a lost year for Miami, at least they’re playing without fear of losing. Sure, throwing a pass behind the line of scrimmage on the two-point conversion was a head-scratcher, but Flores did go for the throat.

The good news is we now have the tiebreaker with the Skins. At least in the loss, the Phins will have a better draft position if both teams end 2019 with the same record.

This season is what it is. Fighting this reality will only frustrate fans.

Going forward Flores & Co. will play loose, be aggressive since they don’t have to worry about making the playoffs. That edge could make them more competitive.

Phins v.s. Bills up in Buffalo

The Dolphins are another double-digit underdog this weekend against a 4-1 Bills team in Buffalo. Even when Buffalo has been bad, they have still played us well and over the last two years winning three of the last four games.

Miami has had a lot of problems with running QBs. While Josh Allen isn’t the most accurate passer, he is one of the better running QBs in the league. But the biggest issue for the Dolphins is the Bills defense, which is ranked 4th best in points, allowing only 13.8 per game. For a Phins team that is only scoring 8.4 points per game (less than 4 points the average of any other team in the league), it’s hard to expect much from them traveling up to Buffalo this week.

No wonder Rosen was benched for Fitzpatrick.

Coach Jimmy Bourbon says: “How about every time we score our first touchdown, we just go for two points?” Up until recently, the Steelers liked to go for the 2pt conversion early. Sure touchdowns are going to be at a premium for the Dolphins this season, but why not be aggressive and just go for two?  Worst case we don’t make it and only score 6 points. Given the solid percentages of making 2pt conversions, if we miss it early we can just go for two again if we score a 2nd touchdown.

Why not… maybe some good will come from staying aggressive.

Let’s take a look at some positive storylines so far this season

You see, it’s not all bad. Right?! Maybe some more good news will come as the season goes on. With eleven games left, there’s plenty of 2019 Season still to come.

Hopefully, we can keep it respectable this week because a close game is much more fun to watch. Unfortunately, the odds aren’t in our favor this week… but that’s why they play the game.

What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins News fan’s thoughts about this upcoming game?

I like Anthony Gordon for the Dolphins in the 5th round Quarterback could be the still of the draft????

Two Quarterbacks one making the top sport headlined and the other is quiet.

    2019 Washington State Cougars Stats
    Previous Year
Anthony Gordon SR 7 games 29 TD 7 Intersection

    2019
LSU SEC SR 7 Games 29 TD 3 Int

Both of these QB played in the same school under the same system and Anthony Gordon has be said to be better than both of these two below. Gordon is being overlooked (look for him around the 5th to 6th round in 2020 draft.
Falk was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the sixth round (199th overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft
Garner Menshew 6th round 178th picked by the Jacksonville Jags 2019 Washington State Cougars Stats.

    • Steve

      LSU Joe Berrows

I was comparing his stats to Anthony Gordon stats the QB at Washington State after Garner Mishew and Luke Falk.

Jalen Hurst I like for a Dolphins in the second round if he is there! He gets no respect and maybe I’m disrespecting him now.

Tua and Jalen Hurst have the most stable games and they both started as Freshman leading their team to a National Title. In addition Hurst is with Oklahoma now and they are undefeated and he is on the Heisman list.

Hurst He ranks a low second rounder in the 2020 draft and most likely will be the still of the draft. Don’t be surprised he goes to the Ravens or Steeler’s. There will be QB’s who will shake up thing like Kyler Murray last season who was not ranked at the beginning of 2018 season. Now we see Joe Burrow’s shaking things up, Its mid season and J. Burrows has double production from his entire last season stats.

Tua I don’t like for a Dolphins because (They will asked too much from him and he is injury prone)
    30 wins 1 loss Tua
26-2 record lost job to tua in 2018 still played in 13 games, replaced injured Tua in a win against Georgia Sec Champion ship game
    Oklahoma Sooner s undefeated 5-0
Justin Fields 7 wins 0 losses and played 12 games with the UGA

Joe Burrow’s I like him for the Dolphins he possess that poised the Dolphins never had.(If his performance remains better than his peers then yes he is a number picked).

Joe Burrow’s Ohio State 2016 played in 5 games 2017 played in 5 games two touchdowns.
LSU 13 Games 2018 threw for 2894 yards and 16 TD and 5 Int
Current (2019 started 7 games and threw for 2884 yards and 3 Int)

Justin Herbert I like him for the Dolphins He has the most upside if he can cleaned up some things.
    Justin Herbert has been Oregon
    2016 games played 8–TD14–Int 4
    2017 games played 8–TD15–Int 5
    2018 games played 13-TD29–Int 8
    2019 games played 7–TD21–Int 1
Total thrown yards 8952—84 Touchdowns–18 Int

Being realistic about this. One of these QB will be a Dolphins (selecting number one picked The only QB that would not be a reached would be Tua base on beating out Hurst and National Title and one or two losses in his career actually one loss. Hurst has two losses in his career.

Miami Who do I picked right now:
    Number one Piked: Chase Young
    Number two Picked: Johnathan Taylor
    Number three Picked: Joe Burrows

LSU Joe Burrow’s has to play Ranked 6 wins 1 Loss Auburn There front defensive line is off the charts!
LSU Joe Burrow’s has to play Ranked 7 wins 0 Loss Alabama next
LSU should have no problem with Old Miss, Arkansas and Texas A&M

I figure Auburn and Alabama will give Burrow’s more than he can handle with a Healthy Tua we will see? If LSU gets by them then they will most likely play Clemson at the end. Then Burrow’s would have earned that number one position though I don’t see them beating Young Trevar Lawrence who is just to bored right now meaning no competition for him. I’m hard on Burrow’s because he can be fools gold for the Dolphins but he is on fire right now.

What I like about College Football is the players moved up and down base on each game performance.

    1. I also like that QB Jalen Hurst lost his job to Tua felt he could performed better on another team transferred to Oklahoma.

    2. Justin Field could not beat out Jake Fromm transferred to Ohio State\

    3. Jacob Eason attempted to win his job back after injury from Jake Fromm couldn’t transferred to Washington Huskies

    4. Joe Burrow’s could not beat out J.T Barrett and Haskins at Ohio state after 3 years transferred to LSU

    On the quarterbacks

Prior to this Loss Jake Fromm was the talked behind Tua and Herbert because of his performances
Georgia’s Jake Fromm struggles in stunning loss to South Carolina

Why Justin Fields, Jacob Eason couldn’t beat out Jake Fromm at UGA
Base on what UGA Coach stated that Jake Fromm ran their pro style offense better etc.

I’m certain when a coach identify his quarterback strength’s (Then designed plays like a shoe fit for that QB Vs this is my system and learned it)

Meanwhile, Fields and Eason have played exceptionally well in their one-third seasons at Ohio State and Washington, respectively. Many pundits are declaring already that they are better than Fromm, based on the gaudy numbers they’ve produced.Side-by-side-by-side, theirs indeed look better.

    Fields: 81-of-116 passing (69.8%), 1,092 yards, 16 TDs, 0 interceptions, 194.43 pass-efficiency rating;
    Eason: 103-of-145 (71.0%), 1,243 yards, 10 TDs, 2 INTs, 163.03 rating.
    Fromm: 62-of-82 (75.6%), 788 yards, 6 TDs, 0 INTs, 180.48 rating.

As for Eason and Fields, either, both or neither may end up being a greater overall quarterback than Fromm; all of that will play itself out eventually. But the fact remains, neither was able to beat out Fromm while with the Bulldogs. That’s because neither could do as well what Georgia asks their quarterbacks — and Fromm, in particular — to do.

Mean While Joe Burrow’s is on top now at mid season.

Joe Burrow’s is From Athens, Ohio, and he did play for the Buck Eye’s.

“Well, he signed, played for us for three years,” Meyer told Cowherd. “He did a grad transfer. Dwayne Haskins and Joe had to battle, oh what was it, two years ago in spring and it was inches from who was our starting quarterback and Dwayne the battle.

Here’s how each player performed in Week 6:

Joe Burrow, QB, LSU: 27-of-38, 71.1%, 344 passing yards, 5 TD, 1 INT; 10 att., 42 rushing yards, 1 TD
Jalen Hurts, QB, Oklahoma: 16-of-24, 66.7%, 228 passing yards, 2 TD, 1 INT; 10 att., 56 rushing yards, 2 TD
Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State: 17-of-25, 68.0%, 206 passing yards, 2 TD, 1 INT; 11 att., 61 rushing yards, 1 TD

I was not ready to put Joe Burrow’s at the top of the list for QB’s just yet! But honestly he has earned the top spot.

    Hello Dol-Fans

Admin you are right base on performances under pressure in the big games this season. Burrow’s has moved to the Front. Now considering we are mid season in College football his status can improved or declined based on his performances the rest of the season.

    Heisman Five
    1. Joe Burrow, LSU

If a guy gets pantsed on national TV, then jokes afterward that “there was supposed to be a full moon in Starkville tonight,” that is your Heisman favorite 100% of the time.

    2. Jalen Hurts, Oklahoma

Hurts threw one in completion on Saturday. So he has some work to do to get better.

    3. Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama

Of all Saturday’s craziness, Tagovailoa going down with an ankle injury in the first half against Tennessee might be the most impactful moment of the day.

    4. Justin Fields, Ohio State

Fields had four TD passes in an annihilation of Northwestern on Friday. He’ll get an angry Wisconsin D next week that should be his biggest test to date.
    5. Justin Herbert, Oregon

Folks stopped paying attention after the Week 1 loss, but Herbert’s line — 68% completions, 21 TD passes, 1 INT — is in Tagovailoa territory.

They have the picks… now with Tua getting surgery, Tank for Tua doesn’t have the same ring… I think Burrows is now the target.

      • Steve

Tua Tagovailoa suffered a high-ankle sprain last night against Tennessee. Our physicians performed a successful tight-rope procedure on his right ankle this morning,” Saban said. “This is the same injury, but the opposite ankle that Tua injured last season. Tua will miss next week’s game against Arkansas, but we expect a full and speedy recovery.”
