Sleeping Giant Awoken!?

The Dolphins are coming off an impressive victory. The Titans may not be a playoff caliber team, but they have been competitive in every game they played this year, except for the Dolphins game. However, there are not many blowouts each season in the NFL, and bad teams don’t usually blowout teams. So the hope is that this performance will carry over to the next game against the Houston Texans, a team the Dolphins have NEVER beaten.

There was a video on the internet that showed Dan Campbell’s post game locker room speech. It was short and sweet, and definitely got me fired up. The moral of the speech was that this was a team effort that started with the team practicing hard and physical the week before the game, and that the sleeping giant has awoken.

After finally “waking up” from their sleep walking in the first 4 games (which gave me my own night terror, might I add), this has is a perfect metaphor, because this team has talent. If this Miami can continue to play at the level that they played in the Titans game, they are going make teams work for everything they get. This season may have started out as a disaster, however, this may have been a blessing in disguise. The terrible start, intentional or not, achieved the much needed firing of Philbin and Coyle, the two coaches that all the Miami Dolphins News fans wanted fired before the season even started.

The Dolphins showed sports betting fans that they can actually play football and overcome their obvious blemishes – when they play with their all and are put in position by the staff for success. The coaching staff lead by Dan Campbell, went back to the basics of practicing intense with live contact, and simplified the defensive scheme so players didn’t have to think too much, and instead were able to focus on playing football. The game of football is a very fast game, so it is important that players use their football instincts.

The million dollar question now is whether or not the Titans game was an anomaly or if that was a smelling salt type reaction that has now permanently awoken this team from their four game siesta. I am not giving up on this team, and I believe that this past victory has shown this team that they do have what it takes to win in this league. Clearly the changes that were made in the two weeks since Campbell has taken over as head coach have worked, and now they need to continue to follow that blueprint and see how far they can take it.

Every game in the NFL is a big game, especially considering a team only plays 16 games. The Dolphins have another big game this week when they finally come back home to play the Houston Texans, a team that the best sportsbooks in the world have them favored to beat by -4.5 points. Does the rest of the Miami Dolphins news fans think Miami will build off the Titans performance and be able to win their second game in a row, which would then get them back to a .500 record?

I believe that Miami will build off of that victory in Tennessee. I think that we will continue to see an added emphasis on the running game. The next two opponents (Houston, Patriots), both struggle stopping the run and if we can continue to establish a running game and have more runs than passes I feel that we will win not just this Sunday, but next Thursday as well.

I also believe we will continue to see Miami attack down field. Thought there was a very creative offense with some imagination yet not to ridiculous, just enough to keep opponent off balance. Seems we now have a fullback on the roster (who knew). Would like to see 5-6 more planned Tanny runs, another offensive element for defenses to cover (or not to cover).

Hope to see a aggressive defense with some blitzes as well as discussed blitzes/non blitzes. Hope to see J.Taylor improve from week to week. Rest Wake throughout the week if needed, because a healthy Wake makes a HUGE difference. Also believe that Suh will start to assert himself more and more each game. Have a feeling he will break out come next Thursday vs N.E (not that he is doing bad, just would like to see the Suh factor explode). Also liked seeing O.V. on the left side of the defensive end, just another small wrinkle/change from this new staff.

All and all continue to play the game w/passion. Run around like their hair’s on fire. Employ a aggressive offensive and defensive approach along with enough Tanny runs, reverses, blitzes, wrinkles to keep defenses/offenses off balance.

Great opportunity this Sunday to get back to .500 and become the first Miami team to beat the Texans. Don’t care how, just win this game get back to .500. Stay healthy and enjoy the victory for 24 hours and start to prepare for a short week and the Patriots.

I think we’re seeing the Suh effect in Wake. Suh is getting double and triple teamed and indeed is setting Wake free 1 on 1 w opponents’ RT. This is the design and rationale for siging Suh, that and his pushing the middle of the pocket.

Im not expecting big stats from Suh but more of an effect on the LOS.

I believe the Dolphins can beat the Texans. The Dolphins have the psychological edge. Think about the fact that we have NEVER beaten the Texans. Now we have a better team and Dan Campbell is going to get those emotions going. Jimmy, how do you like our chances this week against the Texans?
