Reshad Jones & Bobby McCain Placed on I.R.

Reshad Jones may have played his last game as a Dolphin last week

Reshad Jones and Bobby McCain will finish the 2019 Season on Injured Reserve. This wasn’t a season to remember for either player.

McCain and Jones join Xavien Howard on I.R. constituting a massive $34 million dollars of the Dolphins 2019 Cap. That’s 20% of the salary Cap generating zero impact on the season going forward!

All three players have been limited by injury since Preseason. While the defense won’t take a hit by their absence because they have been mostly out of the lineup, this wasn’t the expectation for this season.

Miami’s best secondary players have been nonfactors in 2019

Howard will be back in 2020 but given the long history of his bad knee, it’s fair to wonder if he’ll ever be healthy. McCain has an injury clause in his contract that guarantees a good portion of his salary next year, so he’ll be back as well. But, given his lack of size and poor tackling the safety position isn’t McCain’s strong suit, so the question is where will he fit in?

McCain not successfully transitioning to safety adds extra distaste for the trade of Minkah Fitzpatrick. Now the trade feels even tougher to swallow than a two-dollar steak.

What if we just flip-flopped the players to their proper positions?

Then there is Reshad Jones who is another matter altogether. He doesn’t fit in at all next year and has a $15 million-dollar sticker tag if he’s on the roster. He won’t be on the Dolphins Week 1 roster in 2020 that’s for sure. As I said in Training Camp, this year or the next Reshad Jones is moving on. You can bet with the best pay per head sites like www.AcePerHead.com that Jones has played his last game for the Miami Dolphins last week.

Even if you dislike Jones’ for benching himself in 2018, he’s been one of Miami best players

For a position so heavily invested in over the last few years, it’s hard to believe that that the cupboard at safety is so bare. Gone: Fitzpatrick & McDonald. Unsuccessful: McCain. Soon to be gone: Jones. It seems Rowe, Wiltz, Parker and some rookies will be the new crew at Safety in South Florida next year.

Let’s hope they get a better hit ratio this time around.

As much as I disliked Jones for quitting in the Jets game in 2018, it’s hard not to tip your hat for all the good moments he has provided over the years. He certainly was one of Miami’s brightest spots over a terrible stretch. It seems like just yesterday he was having one the best season’s a safety has ever had in the NFL. And now his career is over… at least in Miami.

My how the decades roll by.

Well, this season is certainly a new beginning on every front. Let’s hope this new chapter is not only full of new faces but good times too. Go Phins!!!

    Hello Admin and Dol-Fans

    2020
11 wins is the secret formula for the Dolphins to host the divisional play offs to make a run for the Supper Bowl.

Coach Flores has proven to me already that he can coach! I would say we are a lot closer than folks may believed just by using this formula.

Draft the best two Dual threat QB 2020–Jalen Hurts Oklahoma –Tyler Huntley Utah
Draft the top two running Backs 2020–Jonathan Taylor Wisconsin Badgers–Chuba Hubbard Oklahoma State Cowboys
Draft the best blocking TE 2020 – Cheyenne O’Grady, TE, Arkansas
Draft two 1st team Tackle 2020—-OT: Josh Jones, Houston– Prince Tega Wanogho OT Auburn
Draft two 1st team guards 2020–OG: Michael Onwenu, Michigan–OG: Wyatt Davis, Ohio State
Draft two 1st team centers 2020–C: Dawson Deaton, Texas Tech–Center Matt Hennessy, Temple

Draft two versatile C/B–Douglass Coleman III Tech–Isaiah Rodgers Massachusetts D/B

Draft two versatile safeties C/B Jordan Fuller Ohio State Saftey–Antoine Winfield Jr. Minnesota

Draft two versatile LBS with over 100 tackles-Shaquille Quarterman ILB–Hamilcar Rashed Jr Ohio State

Draft OLB or edge rusher in the 1st round meaning Chase Young or Isaiah Simmons*, OLB, Clemson

Draft your slot and wide receiver: Omar Bayless Arkansas W/R– Austin Mack Ohio State W/R

Free agency (Is difficult and I’m not sure about how too) Just examples:

Two tackles one year deal with incentives La’el Collins Carolina Panthers’ Daryl Williams
Two guards one year deal with incentives–Brandon Scherff, Washington Redskins and Joe Thuney, New England Patriots
two D/T one year deal with incentives–Jarran Reed, Seattle Seahawks?????
One edge rushers one year deal with incentives ???????
two centers Rodney Hudson, Oakland Raiders–Ben Jones, Tennessee Titans
One line backer:Bobby Wagner, Seattle Seahawks

The Raven did not play around with Joe Flacco, they moved on and with a solid defense and run game would not have been enough had the raven drafted a conventional QB. No! they drafted a dual threat QB who no one saw his potential but Stephen Ross from the Dolphins. The Ravens are two years with there QB Lamar and is knocking on the Super Bowl doors.

    Hello Admin and Dol-Fans

Comments taken from the DolphinWire about Rosen and FitzPatrick!
Rosen is a traditional pocket passer and this piecemeal offensive line has Fitzpatrick running for his life on nearly every play, and he’s still taken 3.5 sacks per start this season despite his ability to evade pressure.

Fitzpatrick galvanized the offense, catapulting them into a more competitive state. This allows the coaches and Chris Grier to identify who is worth keeping around and Finally, the move to bench Rosen also protects Rosen, the asset.

Admin taking these observation from a team that lacks effective blocking and the executing of plays just reaffirmed why I believed in the dual threat QB for the Dolphins over the Conventional Pocket passer. The two I think would be a good fit are Jalen hurts Oklahoma and Tyler Huntley Utah. Joe Burrow’s is and excellent dual treat QB I don’t see us getting down to the number picked?

    Hello Admin and Dolphins Fans

Replacements or within reached for this upcoming 2020 draft. My favorites are C/B Coleman one of top leaders with 8 passing interceptions. Quarterman ILB, is maybe under the radar and Jordan Fuller I prefer over Jaylon Johnson.

50th Jaylon Johnson, CB, Utah https://youtu.be/tznnEHc9ens

3rd Rounder: 69th picked Shaquille Quarterman ILB

4th Rounder: 127th Jordan Fuller Ohio State Saftey https://youtu.be/DVURcKFardI

7th Round: Douglass Coleman III Tech Corner Back https://youtu.be/XnGh70UIB7g?list=TLPQMjAxMTIwMTkyCizG0-ZTwA

    7th Round: Dolphins: StanFord Samuel’s III C/B https://youtu.be/FJrRItsEKrI?list=TLPQMjAxMTIwMTkyCizG0-ZTwA

7th Round: VERONE MCKINLEY III C/B OREGON https://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=8DPIW9Y7SMU

Selecting Isaiah Simmons OLB Clemson with the possible 14th picked would be another valuable part to the defense. Or We could go OLB in the 2nd round by selecting Kenneth Murray OK LB who is excellent for that position https://youtu.be/htCtG9zip1Y

Some of these player may go undrafted not sure?

    Carter Coughlin OLB https://youtu.be/LTnA4GxHqNc

    Outside Linebacker–Appalachian State University https://youtu.be/jbz-GjZLtso

Bobby McCain having a bum shoulder explains why he tackled so terribly last game. I still think he is a nickel corner.
On the other hand, I’m gaining more confidence in Flores et al with each passing week even though they are still making some rookie mistakes.
Biggest issue with this team is lack of talent so they are unable to overcome mistakes i.e. turnovers and penalties. Hats off to Jones for his service but his time has passed and I wish him well for the future. If Grier can hit well on the draft, next season will offer a tremendous improvement, particularly if Flores continues his improvement as a coach.
Wins and losses at this point in the season is not going to sway my opinion of Flores. Go Dolphins!

That could def. be the reason, but some of those misses seemed to be poor technique as well if I remember correctly. He’s too small to be back there and injury will likely continue if he sticks at safety. After watching yest. game, I’m thinking this team won’t be fixed till 2022. LBs, and the secondary need a ton of help… a long with the rest. Well, at least we pick #2 now 🙂
