Reality Check

The Dolphins were given a strong dose of reality on Thursday night against the Patriots.

The Dolphins may have come a long way from their 1-3 start, however, the fact is they are still a long way away from being as good as the Patriots. The Patriots are playing at another level, and some football betting software fans are betting that the Patriots have a legitimate chance to go undefeated this season.

Frankly I’m sick of the Patriots, it’s actually boring how good they are, and unfortunately for the Dolphins, the ageless Tom Brady, barring any injury is going to be playing for the rest of this decade, with the hoodie continuing to dissect other teams like a mad scientist. As long as Belichick and Brady are together, it does not matter who else is on the team, because they supplant their lineup with specific types of players that have a specific job to do. They take cast offs from other teams and turn them it unstoppable stars. (Just look at their two running backs Dion Lewis, and Lagarrette Blount)

The Patriots served the phins a large serving of humble pie, however, the Dolphins season is not entirely lost, but they need to continue to improve if they want to at least be in the hunt. Luckily for the phins they do not have to play the Patriots every week. The Dolphins will have a solid 10 days to rest and prepare for their next opponent, which will be a must win game in Buffalo against the Bills.

With Cameron Wake suffering a season ending Achilles injury, the Dolphins need someone else to step up on the Defensive line. Wake is arguably the Phins best defensive player, and most sports wagering fans would say that there is no individual on the team that can replace his production. It is a huge loss for the team, and he will be sorely missed, but the rest of the team must step it up now.

The Dolphins were losing right after the Patriots first touchdown drive, and as a result they slipped back into their early season pass happy mode. It can be said that the Dolphins did not abandon the run, because they didn’t even try to use it. The Dolphins only ran the ball 13 times on 57 plays. The Dolphins forgot how they won the previous two games, and thought they could get into a shoot out with Tom Brady and the Patriots. The Dolphins need to get physical in practice next week, and get back to the ground and pound game.

On defense the Dolphins were hanging in there and were battling terrible field position, but the Patriots are a team that never takes their foot off the gas pedal, and they constantly attack their opponent for a full 60 minutes. The Dolphins defense did not play bad, but they were worn down by a better team. The Defense could and should have been helped by the Dolphins offense. Instead, the Dolphins offense was unable to stay on the field, or put points on the board.

Miami must rebound from this defeat, and make sure that they can learn and improve from their mistakes. There are still 9 more games left in this season, and the Dolphins need to stay hungry, and focused if they want to finish the season strong. What does the rest of the Miami football think?

Did anyone really expect a win? AYFKM? ‘we are what our record says we are…’

    Im not sold on Tanny.
    Im not sold on Miller.
Im not sold on our D.
Im not sold on our OL.
Im not sold on our O scheme.

A good D coordinator can scheme a pass rush, but you need to be able to hold up on the back end and this roster has no cover talent except an athletic midget that can be exposed w matchups.

It will be interesting to see assuming Camp has the opportunity, what type of players and positions he will emphasize in next years draft.

Here we are after over a decade with the same team needs everywhere. This has Ross’ fingerprints all over it. No talent, no playmakers, no studs that can impact a game single handedly like other teams.

    We are in purgatory folks.

Dolphins had a bad game but no need to panic. Yes Lazor called a poor game and his inexperience showed big time. He has got to get better with game planning and making adjustments But in spite of all that, players have to execute better.
The defense had a decent game despite the score. There were a few plays they should have made and did not but, had the offense shown up and played well, it would have been a closer game.
Having said all that, I still like what Dan Campbell is doing so I hold judgement of him until after the next 2 or 3 games. We’ll see.
    Go Phins

      Fritz well said!

Someone said at work today about the old Tampa Bay Team under Tony Dongy and the Questioned was ask to Tony how did he turn the Bucs around? He stated that the hardest was after a team has lost for so many years it was difficult to change their thinking that they can be winners, they can win consistently. Changing their mind set we saw that with the Dolphins against Titans and the Texans.

I do believed that the Dolphins have a winning team. One thing has to change! Players who start should be replaced by the hungry players. If Matt Moore is hungrier than Tannehill then feed Matt Moore!

If receivers choke on catching the ball someone on the Dolphins team will catch the ball.
If Earl the defensive lineman is not hungry to sack the QB, someone on the Dolphins team wants to sach the QB feed them. (There is no excuse why a team cannot gain 1 yard when at 3rd and 1 somebody need tobe replaced until they are hungry.

last 7 years Dolphins night game rating are F- (Prime time is for the hungry teams)

Coach Campbell will have to motivate his team or end of the season another coach will make these calls.

Great points Steve, specially the one about replacing players that keep choking or making terrible mistakes.

    Hello Dolfans

The best way to recover from this defeat. Go back to Coach Campbell conditioning drill etc. Some people who choke during that came need to choke on the bench.

We have two QB used both ( one throw deep one does not????) Who can move the team. NO ONE’s JOB IS SECURE WHEN YOU CHOKE!
COACH CAMPBELL NEED TO REWARD THOSE WHO STEP UP THEIR GAME.
Coach Noel of the Steeler in the 70’s played three QB who won games Joe Gillam, Terry handrady and (Bradshaw road the bench until he developed into one of the Great QB’s

The Defense played well until they broke down after being on the field to long.

We have the Team if Bill Bellcheck had this same Dolphin team what then???? They would win. Offensive Coordinator does he really know how to use Matt Moore and Tannehill together, Plus Developed a serious running game? Why is Matt Moore not being used???

Remember Aaron Rogers told his fans to calm down last year. (The season is not over for the Dolphins).

Why did the Dolphins loose the Game against New England here’s my observations.

They got Bullied! their lunch money taken.
    1. Drop passes in their hands
    2. Quarterback will not take charge of his team
    3. 3 down and 1 no excuse not to have a power house for that
    4. Running tripping over their own feet.

Coach Campbell has a tough job. I like what Coach Campbell bring to the Fins, he has the Eye of Tiger. He will get the tough job done.

the key on defense is gone. wake. and seeing how he is due 8.4 million dollars next year they will deal him away. now the defense has no answer. as for the offense kenny stills is a waste of money. and i keep saying it miller is average at best. and why did they keep using the pat’s cast off in his place. he is worse that miller. it’s over. they may beat some bad teams but anybody that’s 500 or better will beat the fins. campbell is doing a good job with what he has. i hope they keep him. but we will be in the cellar of the AFC east.

I feel that this was Cameron Wake’s last game as a Dolphin. He has one more year on his contract, and is scheduled to earn $9.3 million or so next season. More than likely the team will waive Cameron Wake and free up about $8.5 million dollars in cap space. Hate to see this great player go, but with signing Suh and Tannehill to large contracts, tough decisions will have to be made. This team never addressed the O-Line in the off-season, and this is going to continue to hurt this team. The O-Line and MLB position are key off-season upgrades needs. Not just the OG’s but a future Brandon Albert replacement needs to be found. I have hope that a wildcard spot can be landed because the rest of the AFC is pretty lousy with the exception of NE, Cincy, & Denver. However, my hope is fading. I just don’t trust the O-Line to be consistently productive to run the ball and give T-Hill time. Finally, I have never been a fan of Bill Lazor! He may be a fine QB Coach, but I don’t think he has what it takes to be an OC! Hence the reason Sherman was brought in to “baby sit” Lazor. The team was down 7-0 and he just about abandoned the running game and let New England’s D-Line tee off on our QB. No, we were not going to have the production on the ground vs. NE that we did against Titans & Texans, but less than 50 yards on the ground total? Why not roll out Tannehill and have him throw on the run more? These examples are why I don’t think Lazor is the man to be OC. I wish he could have been canned along with Philbin & Coyle!! Still digging out from the horrific GM moves of Jeff Ireland! Gona take some more time.
