Phillips Can Prove Philbin Wrong

Last week, Jordan Phillips sat inactive against a heavy rushing Bills team for some inexplicable reason. He was uninjured and had performed well in his limited role. He is the one defender to register a sack and demonstrated an ability to dominate one-on-one with his opponent and apply pressure on the quarterback. Yet, it was Philbin’s call to have him sit at home and watch the loss on T.V. From his home. Even more curious is this week he is active? Guess Jordan Phillips will have this week to show Fin Fans it was either Philbin’s wisdom or a poor football gamble to sit him!

This move says ALOT! It says they reached for Phillips in the second round, or that Phillips has somehow found his way into the dog house or that Philbin doesn’t know his personal – or even worse, it’s a combo of all three!

When you expend a second-round pick in a win or bust season and your pick is sitting in a crucial home game, then you are in dangerous territory. Now I rate my football acumen as high – not as high as any on the Dolphins coaching staff, BUT from everything I saw Phillips performed well in the snaps I say him play. And if after the abysmal performance against the running game of the Bills, he couldn’t have contributed then it was the regime and seasonal suicide to draft Phillips!

In the end, whether it’s six or half dozen of another, this is a LARGE sign on the highway to failure of this dolphins team. Phillips’s inability to contribute in this sieve of a run defense or Philbin’s inability to coach him up or see his ability is a HUGE miss!! And with a team striking out this bad in run defense…this failure either way is indefensible.

    It’s the coach
He is too timid and afraid of strong personality players – he doesn’t coach he administrates and needs to go
    We need a strong coach
    Bring jimmy back
We have officially the worst offensive line in the NFL
We need to acquire good guards
Next 3 years our number one pick should be offensive line
Albert cannot play 16 games and never has
But most of all we need a new head coach and a new defensive coach

I agree with most of what you say…but Jamil who seems realllyyyyyy weak. Too weak for RG and maybe too weak for LG. Pairing him with Pouncy who has little point of attack strength and only excelles on the second level make sus soft…just like Philbust. We just dont have the horses on the O-line with Albert out and with him in we are soft C-RG. Dallas ain’t that bad when paired with Albert…next to Fox and the highway of Pouncy/ Jamil and it’s disaster…i want so bad to say “we’ll be okay”…but it will be ugly

Jimmy, it’s the coaching plain and simple. If Andy Reid, Cowher, or Bellicheat were coaching this team, we would be 3-0! When Ross decided to keep Philbin for another season last December, our season was doomed! I am so sorry, but 8-8 will be lucky. The worst part is I think we have the 4th or 5th easiest schedule overall, and we still won’t make the playoffs. It’s all coaching! I will state that Hickey and Tannenbaum did not address the OL/OG issues. Most fans were screaming to sign a veteran OL/OG like Mathis, but we did not! The team drafted Phillips as a means to be able to release next season Mitchell and save money. We should have drafted OG in the 2nd round. Now I really feel if we are going to change things for the better up front on the OL, a trade needs to be made. I say trade Jennings to a team like KC or even Dallas who can use good veteran help at WR in turn for a good solid RG. Move Douglas to LG and have him compete with Thomas. Douglas is quicker and more athletic. I think he would beat out Thomas who thus far is a bust. What are your thoughts Jimmy?
