No Tomorrow(guest writer from Miamidolphinsnews.net)

today

Today’s the day, seize it Dolphins. Starting with the coaches who have had two weeks to prepare to the players who have had two weeks to practice, your time is now. Will you be 3-2 or 2-3 by games end? No excuses will do. Players are healed, plenty of time to implement the correct battle plan, there was no traveling and the home crowd is yours: today you show us and yourselves who you are as a team.

I had a bye week of my own with a nastiest flu for me and my family. Laid up, I had a lot of time to think. And when my mind came upon my beloved Dolphins the only thought that stuck in my head was: There’s no tomorrow.

A loss today will wipe away all illusions of who we are. There is more consequence to a loss than a win as a victory puts us in a holding pattern with the Patriots and Bills. Yet, we must win to have a chance to sit at the table for the division.

Yes, we could lose and things could come back our way if the Patriots falter and we go on a tear, but does anyone Miami fan trust that scenario? For too many years we have been relegated to pipe dreams. There was a time when playoffs were a regular expectation and the golden ring was the Super Bowl or ACF Championship.

Remember when we were one of the most respected franchises in the league and the cream of the crop in AFC? We are fast approaching two decades of obscurity. We are in the third year of this regime.  It’s high time for a change.

Today is our day. Tomorrow is for losers.  No more ‘we’ll get ‘em next week’. No more ‘wait till next year’. No more!  It’s win or bust as I see it. And I am saying we will win. 24-17 Dolphins: GO ‘PHINS.

Sunday’s game against the Packers proved to me that the Dolphins have what it takes to Win.
Some Facts: Many Teams NFL, College and High Schools are second half teams. Why I don’t know!
Miami Dolphins Coaches gain valuable experience in that game.
Tannehill gain valuable know ledged from Aaron Rogers in that game FROM A QB.
We fans need to stop asking for the Coach and QB heads while they are learning. In all fairness Tannehill never had the opportunities that
Aaron Rodgers had to backed up the legendary Brett Favre for the Green Bay Packers for 4 total seasons.
    In addition
How many years has Tony Romo been a starter quarterback?6 years In October 2006, Tony Romo became the Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback, replacing Drew Bledsoe,
Tony Romo played at Eastern Illinois University. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Dallas Cowboys in 2003 at the urging of then-assistant head coach Sean Payton.

Tannehill was thrown to the wolves he has the skills. Let the coaches developed him. I think we Fans needs to JUST RELAXED! Overall I like the Miami Defense, Special Teams just need to fine tune the Offense (I think maybe let Tannehill call more of his own plays?

Steve, I think we have talent on D and O. But, what I’m seeing is leadership issues from the top that reveal themselves nearly every game. This is Philbin’s third year. The coaching defects that arose in this game with the magnitude of the game are a troubling and continuing sign. Philbin isn’t horrible. But he is demonstrating his leadership has huge failings. You can be an un-charismatic leader if you are brilliant ala “Bellicheat”. You can be a beloved leader like Herman Edwards was. You can be terse if you win like Harbaugh. And the level and ratios can be distributed any combo thereof. But, you can’t be a drone who is rubbing your players the wrong way and make inept decisions. Philbin had issues with Coyle at half time. The game before he had huge miss communication with Lazor (who I am a big fan of). Three games ago the players had issues with Coyle’s gameplan. Philbin had issues with Tanny two weeks ago. If you watch the post game of Philbin he never owns up to the anything: not inserting Pouncy to failure, or the horrific 4th down call or the timeout on 4th and then losing with 6 sec.. left. As a leader even if it isn’t your fault at least to the outside world you need to carry the burden to lead your soldiers through. Philbin said “I’ll told them at half time”…ect (watch the vid). This is not resonating well in the locker room. I will bet my beloved Marino retirement plate on it. IF they lose this week it isn’t gonna’ be pretty. Again, Tanny will probably never hit the 9 route with Wallace but he has ALOT to offer a team if developed correctly and given the right gameplan (one that includes a running game). I guess we will see how it pans out. I for one would love to eat my words and say “Steve my man, you nailed it”, as it does me no good to be correct in this matter. This week against the Bears the magnitude of victory or defeat will be turned up to 11.

Lots of fans are losers. Willing to rationalize this loss. Well, F that. There is NO excuse for this team losing that game. Philbin and crew had two weeks to prepare, for a home game, again.

I saw Coyle suggest to Philbin that we go for it on 4th down at the end of the first half, I read him say something about the defense holding even if we didnt make it, and Philbin responded with a resounding “no” opting instead with his ultra conservative approach. Fins had 4 and 3yds in GB territory and Philbin choose not to go.

The first half game plan was a conservative approach on both O and D, again, I bet the ranch this is Philbin instructing his D coord and O coord.

This is a loser mentality. Taking those time outs helped Aaron Rogers more than our D.

This loss I place squarely on the poor and limp wristed judgement of Philbin.

The Fins got out coached again. The schemes Packers deployed gave them the matchups.

I knew Grimes, everyone knew, Grimes was going to get picked on. He’s a very bad matchup vs GB receivers. What caught me by surprise was Finnegans poor performance.

Conservative game plan cost the fins another win at home, and bad coaching.

This regime has to go. Fins will be lucky, LUCKY to go .500.

    • I have been the glass is half full fan and I have been the half empty fan- 30 plus years you try it all I guess so I try not to get made at the fan rather the organization. Now to Flopbin and his mismanagement of the Findom: With 2 weeks to prepare against your old team at home against the worst rushing D in the league and you bomb? This is coaching with everything in your favor and you fail. Listen to his post game speech, he blames everything on the team and even credits himself for predicting what would happen. He gambled, desperately gambled on Pouncy cause he thought it was the best way to win A.) run the ball and keep Aaron off the field to keep him from scoring B.) win a shoot out. It’s more than likely why he went for it on 4th in the first half. He thought it was touchdowns or bust…he lost by a field goal and the D was the best part of the team. He’s desperate. scared and doesn’t know or believe in his team. This will spiral out of control quick. Listen the Tanny’s comments post game. It over as far as I can tell. Hope I’m wrong

No one is listening and I don’t know why they should. At this point of our teetering season I think it’s time for a change. Moore is not less! The coaches don’t see it. the Jets have a real problem they have Vick as a backup. Who would have thunk! All Ryan had to do was look at one Philly game–oh well that’s not our problem, BUT we have the same problem with Philbin. They won’t let go. Maybe it’s an ego thing but they can’t see the problem for what is truly is. In the Jets case it’s ok I like seeing them 1-5. In our case we should be 4-1. IT’S Tannehill dummy!!

I needed some decompression time. To me it’s Philbin. I have access to NFL rewind and coaches cam. I watch the game in about 5hrs from replaying it and watching specific players on nearly every play. If any of you want get you can get a free 7 day access from NFL and watch the game again. Focus on Satele and Pouncy: Pouncy specifically. I have never witnessed such play at guard ( except rooks in preseason) in my 30 plus years of watching the game. Now, Pouncy at guard was all Philbins “We want the 5 most talented player to play”. This is a player who hasn’t played in over two months, hasn’t played guard in over two years, who is coming off major surgery, playing next to two players he has never played next to before and has had zero live reps. Watch the tape. At least 75% of the first q’s plays failed because he failed his assignment horrifically. He was [picking himself off the ground nearly every play. We needed to run between the 0-2 holes to win. We didn’t till late second half when we ran away from Pouncy ( except the 1 play he made on the last TD run). We should not of had an exhausted D. We should have picked up a couple explosive plays but Pouncy whiffed (example the wide open post that Tanny missed at the end of the first half- he was hit mid throw because Pouncy rode his guy to far in playing man rather than the new concept zone and let Hawk blitz). Anyway I could write forever (hyperbolic I know) on the failing…running up the gut on 4th with Satele and Pouncy, calling T.O. on 4th because he failed to get personnel in…ect. He is not top tier coaching right now and might never be. If you gamble big like you did on Pouncy and you have no back up plan and don’t make adjustments accordingly fast you are not fit. Average play at guard and we would have had a rested D and more points. Philbin is not fit as coach.

I was disappointed with the lost to the Packers today,
But happy that the Miami Dolphins fought BACK!
I believed that this Team learned TODAY in order to successfully compete in the NFL that Collectively they must battle 60 minutes.

I believed in this young Miami Dolphins Team and the Coaching Staff.

Look how long Jerry Jones stuck with Jason Garrett and Tony Romo?

Steve, I hope you are right! But, I lived for a time in Florida and worked for a guy who was friends with Shula and was a pillar of the Florida community from the 60’s on. He was there from the 66 on, new the players and the works. In 95 I was talking to him about Shula loading up on free agents and we were going to do it. He said no we aren’t. I remember him saying this still, “After a couple of decades watching a team you just know if they got it or not…and they don’t got it.” They didn’t. Not saying I’m right. He was certainly a Dolphins Jedi master. I am not. But, in my opinion, these Fins aren’t either. Read my comment below for further explanation if you like. And thanks so much for the read and response. And I hope to heck I am wrong on this.

M.J.C I hope that you are wrong too! Appreciate your comments M.J.C
This team is improving and the sad part it will required some time. I’m not sold on cutting the head coach or QB, we are constantly starting over.
