Nate Burleson and other Fluff Stuff

The Dolphins seem to remain active in the free-agency market, looking for what Jeff Ireland used to call acorns. They recently signed Jason Fox, a former RT from the Detroit Lions, who will compete with the Dolphins other lack luster talent at the right tackle position; Nate Garner and Dallas Thomas. They also signed QB Jordan Rodgers, who is the brother of the famous Aaron Rodgers, who will be fighting for a spot as the third string QB. They also signed a WR named Kevin Cone who has 1 career reception in 28 games, but has served most of his time in this league on the special teams unit.

Lastly the just had former WR Nate Burleson in for a visit, who is a 12 year veteran that caught 39 passes for 461 years and 1 touchdown last year. This seems like a “kicking the tires” type of visit because currently the Dolphins have Mike Wallace, Brian Hartline, Brandon Gibson, Rishard Matthews and Armon Binns, so I find it hard to see how an often injured, and over the hill past his prime Burleson will beat out any of these WR’s. I would be shocked to see him leave Miami with a contract, or even be signed in the weeks to come, but Pay per head sites like Ace Per Head fans would argue that you never know.

As you can see phins nation is thirsty for information, but nothing above is anything more than a blip on the radar screen. Unless the Phins make some kind of trade, phins nation is going to have to wait 34 days until the NFL Draft for the next potential valuable player can be added to the team. So Phins news will continue with the news fluff until then, however we will incorporate or own little twist by starting to look at some possible first round choices for the team, and some potential hidden gems in the middle and later rounds.

For example I am told that the Dolphins visited The Miami Hurricanes pro day today and one player who they were really looking forward to see was Seantrel Henderson, a 6’7” and 339 pound offensive tackle who for some reason or other could not even complete his pro day workout. To me nothing further needs to be said about this young man besides, NEXT.

While I agree that Martin would be a fine draft pick at our
need for a RT, allow me to ask the following question : Which
is our greater need ( based on talent available in the draft ),
IL or OL. If CJ Mosely is available at the # 19 slot, as well as
Martin – which would you pick based solely on need. Thanks,

I would say that I would go with Martin over Mosely if both were available. And I think our need for IL or OL will depend on if they want to continue to have Ellerbe play IL or if they want to move him to OL. Regardless of the Miami’s plans for Ellerbe, I would say the Dolphins should draft a linebacker between the 2nd and 4th round

And to go a step further I actually like Wisconsin’s ILB Chris Borland over CJ Mosely. Norland flys all over the field and has a knack for getting the ball loose. 4 forced fumbles last year
