Miami Must Maintain Momentum With A Win Against Jets

Miami’s Gase can’t get out schemed by Jets’ Bowels for a second time

Before the Atlanta Falcons game, the Miami Dolphins were 2-2, but it was an ugly 2-2 that could have easily been 0-4. However, the Dolphins were able to come away with two close victories against both the Chargers and Titans. This close win means they are an incredible 11-0 in their last 11 games decided by 7 points or less.

FWI, the NFL record is 14 straight by Peyton Manning when he was on the Indianapolis Colts.

Now all of a sudden, Miami is 3-2 and truly back in the thick of the playoff race.

The real question is, can we build off this 2 game winning streak and superb second half? If so, this game against the New York Jets is about as critical as they come.

It was only a month ago that the Dolphins got man handled by the Jets in New York by a score of 20-6. Former Dolphins, Todd Bowles out schemed Gase and made the offense all but non-existent.

But the one positive thing about getting so thoroughly beaten by the Jets is that there is no excuse of looking past them this time. And since Miami is home this time, the only excuse for losing is that they aren’t good enough… which is no excuse at all.

As the Pats learned, Jets won’t hand over a “W”

The Jets will likely come out with the same scheme from their first meeting since it was so successful: jam the box, spread wide, attack play side with run blitzes, and force Miami to pass the ball in order to open up the run.  Knowing how good Bowles is, they’ll have a fall back scheme prepared as well.

Against the Titans, because of Parker’s injury, Coach Gase decided to go with more 2 Tight End sets to get an extra blocker on the line, which proved to be beneficial since we were able to run for 138 yards.  This 2 TE set with Inside Zone blocking with counters added in have become the new identity of the 2017 Dolphins.

Under Coach Gase, Miami has proven that when they have success running the ball they score more points and win more games. Bowles will be prepared, so Gase must continue to expand and evolve the playbook, while shying away from the inside draws from 3 Wide and screens to Landry and Ajayi that have been continual losers.

At the moment, various pay per head software providers have the betting line as the Dolphins as the -3 point favorite.  This is nothing special as home field gives a 3pts bump. Miami must stay hungry and keep the momentum rolling to move from the middle of the pack to an upper-echelon team.  The Dolphins won’t get the same calls that the Patriots received to eck out a win. They must earn this one. What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins News fans thoughts about this upcoming game?

I’ts been that kind of week… got sick, back went out and cat was pissed he didn’t get enough food he knocked over my router and broke it… try get the cable company into the mountains of Panama! Dolphins pull off a major win and my life hits the crapper… maybe it was a freudian slip.

…whereabouts in Panama? …spent quite a bit of time there back in 92-95 on the CBRN contract

Chorrera… hour out of Panama City. Lots of ex military here. My best friend here is retired special forces. My wife is Panamanian, so we figured we’d try here for a few years. If I was in the states, I couldn’t spend all this time on Phins. The cost of living overall makes the dollar go farther, so I have much more free time to spend on my hobbies. We are looking to move deep into the mountains of Cerra Azul soon. We are in a very hilly / mountainous area by the sea ATM. Very humid, but nice.

…Wilkerson and Brendal are the keys

…Wilkerson is listed as questionable and did not practice this week ,,,but he did the same last week before playing the whole game against the Pats …I expect him to play but not at full strength …last game, he repeatedly power rushed Pouncey who couldn’t handle it …and the offense never got started

…this week, Pouncey is still in concussion protocol …last week, when Brendal replaced him before the half, the offense suddenly came to life …but Bowles has had a whole week to scheme against him, with or without Wilkerson to deliver the load …if Brendal has a decent day, so will our offense

…this is our sixth game, seventh week …Larsen was working on the side all week, he could be back soon …and after the Ravens, we get McDonald back at S …him and Jones should be a top five safety combo, leaving only our cbs as possible weak spots on defense …Tank has looked good, Howard has had repeated bad games …but cross your fingers and hope we’ve had our full dose of critical injuries for this season

…its a do or die game for both teams

…if no player takes a knee at the anthem, Ill watch

…my take, worth what it cost you

Honestly, going back over the game, Steen didn’t do as bad as I remembered and neither did Pouncey. I should have Fins back up next week in proper form. I’ve been wrecked for near two weeks, but I think next week should be good. I think Brendel will start, although I’m not discounting Pouncey. Pouncey did much better than I recalled and wasn’t pushed around as much as I thought. Still, I think Brendel adds stability with him being able to practice. Bowles out schemes Gase then the season will hit the crapper, and Bowles will be Bowels for all I’m concerned. I do leave some dandies in there… might actually be part of Phinsnews charm.

The next 6 days will have a big impact on the season and Miamis chances of a division title or wildcard spot. It does start with their divisional foe the Jets. There is no excuse for a bad showing Sunday. The first game vs the Jets there were so many outside variables working against this team. There have been a handful of personal changes, a different offensive approach. If they can’t beat the Jets this time around the playoffs most likely will be to much for this team to accomplish. If they can take care of business that could possibly lead them right into a pivotal game with the Ravens on a short week.
If Miami can somehow pick up 2 victories in the next 6 days, get too 5-2, they could set the stage for a very interesting final 9 games. Along with a 5-2 record, they would be getting a much, much needed 10 days off. So, if Miami can beat the Jets,,,, excuse me, when Miami beats the Jets, they will have an excellent opportunity on the following Thursday to set the stage.

The Jets are going to see a much different defense this time around which I believe will be the difference.

Yeah, big game gonna miss it live for the second straight week… my pissed off cat wrecked my router and now I’m using the neighbors wifi till the cable company shows between 1-4pm. Huge game. If the tackles can play like lat week and not allow a single pressure combined, it will be a very good day.
