Many Teams With Much Cap Space

There’s cap space aplenty for many NFL teams in 2017

A lot of Free Agents aren’t hitting the market due to a lot o cap space

There are 12 teams with over $40 million dollars of cap space who are ready to spend in the 2017 Free Agency.

The Miami Dolphins are one of those team currently sitting at $41 million dollars of cap space–and that doesn’t include the eventual departure of Branden Albert.

But, due to all the teams with a ton of money as well, their ability to buy isn’t going to be as huge an advantage as would be in previous years. Now, I’m not saying it isn’t an advantage, but many of these teams flush with cash are going to bid, and bid high. Since a lot of talent expected to hit the market has been pulled back off the market with the several teams using the Franchise Tag, there will be lots of money and not be lots of top end talent.

Cap Space will give the Front Office all the ammo they need

One player that might have been helpful to Miami, but is no longer available, is Melvin Ingram. I’m not saying the Fins would have or should have gone after him, but he did fill a need. Real Bookies. Now Miami is going to have to really show there skills at finding talent on the second level of FA–and of course in the draft .

This is obviously great if they can do it. Cheaper and young is better than more expensive and older, but it’s a far more difficult route to take.

It’s comforting when one or two high talents players, even if the price is high, can be brought in. Getting near certain upgrades can allow some gambles in other areas. Now though, it’s likely that Miami is going to have a series of crap shoots. It could very well be feast or famine.

The sweet thing is, if the F.O. pulls this off, and surrounds the talent currently on the squad with cheap talent, then Miami will really be sitting pretty. The question is, does Mike Tannenbaum and Chris Grier have it in them to rise to the occasion? Go Fins!!!
