Hopefully one day the Phins can emulate the NY Giants

phins newsThe New York Giants are the reining Super Bowl Champions, and they are a team that has been competitively good for the last decade. They are the cream of the crop in everything they do and phins news fans should hope that maybe one day the Miami Dolphins organization can aspire to be like them.

First of all the Giants have won two Super Bowls in the last 5 years, and 3 in the last 12. Two of those Super Bowls were won against the Dolphins division rivals the New England Patriots, and one of those Super Bowls helped to preserve the 72’ Dolphins record as the only undefeated team. They have found a way to beat Tom Brady, and they have also along the way put an ass kicking on the hated Jets. Obviously from a football preparation and scheme perspective, it would be wise to take a closer look at what the Giants do to beat our two division rivals, because maybe we can learn something from them.

Second the Giants Jerry Reese has been the GM for 6 years and he has done a wonderful job building this team through the draft. Year after year, when I sit back and watch the draft unfold on television, I always find myself wanting the Dolphins to draft certain players, and for some reason it always seems that the Giants are the ones who end up drafting these players. Three prime examples of this have ben Ramses Barden, Jason Pierre Paul, and Hakeem Nicks.

Third the Giants have what every team wants, a franchise QB that is best under pressure, and will one day be a Hall of Fame QB. Eli Manning has won two Super Bowls, and he is still probably one of the most underrated players in the league. Hopefully Ryan Tannehill is studying a lot of tape on Eli, because that is a player that he should be aspiring to be like.

Lastly, after watching last nights Giants game, with the Giants going into the game severely effected by injuries to big named stars like Hakeem Nicks, and Ahmad Bradshaw, sports betting software fans figured the Giants playing on the road were going to collapse like a house of cards and lose to Carolina. Instead they go out and prove to sports gambling fans why they are the reigning champs, and show the world that it is going to take more then a few injuries to knock them off their pedestal. In addition, no name 2nd and 3rd string players on the Giants, took it upon themselves to step up to the plate and fill the void. Andre Brown and Ramses Barden, filled in beyond admirably and had career nights, this is something that every team hopes for from their back up players.

Hopefully our new regime can take a page from the Giants book, or even take the whole book, and mold our franchise into something resembling the Giants franchise, because I don’t think any phins news fan would mind seeing the Dolphins win two Super Bowls in a 5 year period.

Wont happen as long as Ireland is making the picks.

  • Ireland is a country not a GM

You can add Pittsburgh, New England and Green Bay to the list as well. These teams draft football players, not Combine heroes. I have the same sentiments as you every year during the draft when I see those teams draft a Maurkice Pouncey, Sean Spence, Aaron Hernandez, Gronkowski, Jordy Nelson, Clay Matthews and so on. Those teams are all great adjusting schemes to fit their players’ strengths rather than trying to get the players to adjust into their schemes.

Yes I definitely agree, and hopefully Philbin and his crew have our organization heading in that direction
