Flores Benches Rosen For Fitzpatrick

Rosen looked lost against the tough Redskins front last week

Brian Flores announced that the starting quarterback for the Bills game is Ryan Fitzpatrick and not Josh Rosen.

A shocker? Not really.

Yes, only a couple of weeks after declaring Rosen the starting QB for the season, Flores has changed his mind. But, after Rosen’s performance against the Redskins, this is the only sane decision he could make against a ferocious Bills defense.

This is simply a reality check and not an indictment on anyone. Just look at Baker Mayfield and how poor he is playing behind a weak O-line. It’s also unfair to call Flores “wishy-washy” because trying to force a square peg in a round hole would be worse than making a QB change.

You can bet with the pay per head software that Rosen still has some very rough edges to his game. The best move for Rosen and the Phins is for him to go back to the developmental phase. Miami has Rosen for a few more seasons on the cheap. At the very least he’s a solid and inexpensive backup with potential. But, if he develops into anything more than an average QB, even if it takes a couple of seasons, Miami will come out of the deal winning.

Now, I won’t go as far as Joe Shad and declare that this move dispels all the ‘tank’ talk.

The reality is Rosen would get destroyed by the Bills. And if the Dolphins get destroyed this week after the heartbreaking last-second loss against the abysmal Reskins, even the most stout player could start to check out. Rosen himself could mentally take a step back if he has a terrible outing as well. And actually, a blowout loss because of a Rosen collapse while Fitzpatrick sat in the wings would fuel the tank talk.

Starting Fitzpatrick is not just the best option, but it’s also the only one.

Tank talk no more… because no one really knows

Despite my last article, we will never know the truth about the tank.

I’ve been a staunch defender of Grier and Flores and rejected all the talk tanking. But ‘that’ play call made this near 50-year-old feel the emotion for football that I had as a kid. There have only been a handful of times that has happened since Marino retired: when the Phins lost in the 2008 playoffs, when they won their one game in 2007, and when the Giants beat the Patriots to stop them from having a perfect season.

Last week’s game, revealed how invested I am in Brian Flores the man and the decisions to rebuild. I really want them to succeed. This regime has me pulling for them as well as the Miami Dolphins franchise itself. I guess it’s good to know that that type of childlike fandom still exists.

Maybe I lost objectivity… maybe not. Who knows what’s going on behind the current but the puppet masters themselves.

Reality is though if this team goes 0-16, trolls will counter the Perfect Season with the ‘Perfect Flop’… and that will be a shame. I think of how different my 8-year old son’s experience with the Dolphins than mine was.

That bothers me too.

Some say this team is worse than the 2007 team. I disagree. If Cam Cameron and Cleo Lemon can get one win so can this team. Whether it’s Fitzpatrick or Rosen, I could care less. I hoped for 6 wins this season to prove Flores was more than average. That’s not going to happen. Now, I just want one… one damn win, and whoever throws the football be damned. Just win one, please. Go Phins!!!

Who is the Best Corner in college currently? Why is this player ranked so high? and would the Jags have their eye’s on this kid as replacement for losing J. Ramsey?

Jeff Okudah Is Top CB Talent Since Jalen Ramsey

One NFL scout went as far as to say he could be compared to Patrick Peterson or Jalen Ramsey, two of the sport’s elite corners at the professional level.

Okudah joins a long list of top-tier defensive backs that have donned a Buckeye jersey in recent years. As the rightful owners of the title ‘DBU’, recent Ohio State draftees include Denzel Ward, Marshon Lattimore, Malik Hooker, Gareon Conley and Bradley Roby — just to name a few. According to this scout, Okudah has a chance to be better than all of those guys.

His skillset allows him to excel on the outside, while showing a tremendous ability to play tight man coverage. The same scout described Okudah as “the most naturally gifted cornerback

Both Ramsey and Peterson were taken No. 5 overall in their respective drafts, with Peterson going to the Arizona Cardinals with the fifth pick in 2011, and Ramsey to the Jacksonville Jaguars with the same pick in 2016. If Okudah really is as good as the scouts say he is, he should be joining Chase Young as an early first round pick in the next NFL Draft.

The Dolphins added a new cornerback Tuesday, and he should basically have their Week 7 opponent’s entire playbook memorized.

They claimed Ryan Lewis off waivers. Lewis, who was released by the Eagles Monday, spent the entire 2018 regular season and the 2019 training camp with the Bills.

Lewis, who went undrafted out of Pittsburgh in 2017, has appeared in 12 games in two seasons with Buffalo, Indianapolis and Philadelphia, making three starts. He has 15 tackles, three pass breakups and two forced fumbles as a pro. He also spent time with Dolphins coach Brian Flores as a member of the Patriots’ practice squad in 2017.

This is the right decision to keep Rosen from getting hurt on the field.

Its not fair to place Rosen who is still a rookie out there without a line.

The Buffalo Bills’ defense against the Patriots

It wasn’t enough to limit the reigning Super Bowl champion New England Patriots to nine offensive points.

It wasn’t enough to limit Tom Brady to 150 passing yards, no touchdowns and an interception.

It wasn’t enough to limit New England to 74 rushing yards on 23 carries.

And 11 first downs. And 28% (5 of 18) on third down conversions.

The Bills Quarterback lost the game for them I say.

Rosen would get destroyed… I do like that Kilgore is out. Hopefully. Boehm is a stark difference in size and power… hope it translates into a W with an enhanced run game
