Dolphins Road Through Patriots Against All Odds

Dolphins aren't afraid of the Patriots or the odds

Dolphins aren’t afraid of the Patriots or the odds

Odds keep getting higher for the Patriots success this season

Everyone knows that the Patriots are the crème of the crop in terms of NFL–even if the thought of it churns your stomach. They have been churning out AFC East Championships, AFC Championships, and Super Bowl Championships for the last 16 years with a winning record every season.

Any team would sell their soul for such long lasting dominance.

Unfortunately, since all roads to any type of Championship go through New England, until the Miami Dolphins can rise above the Patriots on a consistent basis, they won’t find success.

Truth is truth, and the 2017 Season will likely ultimately rest on how well Miami plays against the Pats.

The Dolphins have not been shy this off-season when asked about the Patriots. Landry actually came out and said to the media that Miami respects the Patriots, but they are going to sweep them in their two games against them this season. Then just recently, Suh also said he respects the Patriots; however. he’s in no way shape or form intimidated by them.

You definitely have to love this attitude from our guys, and that’s the only way to be if we are going to beat the Pats–but talk is the ease part… especially at this time of the season.

However, the fact is that Miami was swept by the Patriots last season, and one of those games Brady didn’t even play. The other thing is that on paper the Patriots appear to be even better than last year when they went 14-2 and won the Super Bowl.

Odds makers, pundits, and football guru’s all love Patriots chances to repeat

Even various betting software solutions as Ace Pay Per Head have the Odds of the Patriots to win the 2018 Super Bowl at +300, which is even lower than their +600 odds to win the Super Bowl in 2017 at the same time last year.

The next favorite team to win the Super Bowl is the Dallas Cowboys and their price is much higher at +1000.

The Patriots are also the clear favorite to win the AFC Championship at +175. The next closest team is the Pittsburgh Steelers at +650.

In addition, the Patriots are a ridiculous -1200 favorite to win the AFC East, with the Dolphins as a distant second at +800. This means to bet on the Patriots to win the AFC East one would have to risk $1200 just to win $100.

Tom Brady is the favorite to win the Regular Season MVP at +350, with the next closest player Aaron Rodgers at +700.

Let’s not forget that the Patriots Regular Season win total opened up at over/under 12 and then immediately jumped to 12.5. This is a full 2 games higher than any other team, and 5 games higher than Miami’s 7.5 regular season over/under win total.

Patriots stand in the way of any Dolphins success

Lastly, the Patriots first game of the season is against one of the best teams in the AFC Conference in the Kansas City Chiefs. The line opened up at -7 and now is already up to -9.5, which means the Patriots are nearly double digit favorites against one of their toughest competitions in the AFC.

Bottom line, odds makers are saying that the Patriots are going to be downright scarily.

So, even though I love our team’s attitude, the reality is barring a Brady injury, sweeping or even stealing one victory from the Patriots is going to be extremely difficult. Miami has very little margin for error, and a slow start this season won’t end as pretty as last year.

But, given Adam Gase has a firm grip on his team, an offseason to prepare with first hand knowledge of his personnel, I believe the odds aren’t a true reflection of the situation. Miami overcame a prediction of mediocrity last year. But that was a far easier schedule. It’s only a few weeks away from the start of the 2017 Season… can’t wait to see the Dolphins can shock the world again. Go Fins!!!

We have the team to sweep the PAT’s meaning just play fundamental football.
A well-organized and well-prepared Dolphins team will beat the PAT’s with supposedly more skillful players.

We must go into each game with the mentality that the game is not about one player but a team rushing 25 to 35 rushes of Ajayi and Rookie Smith along with a balanced passing attack minimizing the turn overs is key.

I cannot stress enough that our secondary must study more game tapes of their opponents and we have a lot of receivers that must learn how to tackle/block in addition to their route running and catching.
If our receivers can take their defender out of the play we are down to 5 or 6 defenders to block?

Under Joe Philbin One minute and 15 seconds left in the game the Pat’s get the ball and marched down field. Pat’s Failing to score after 3 to 4 attempts into the in zone. The Dolphins won this game but here is the problem! Defense allowed the PAT’s to marched down field with 75 seconds left in the game.

We were bottom 10 in penalties and the Pats were top 5… that alone is worlds apart as far as quality of the team. If Gase can get this teams some discipline, that alone would make Miami tough.

AGREE!!! Miami WILL not survive this season with a slow start to the season or games. They need to play full games and full season. These first QTR offensive sleep walks will wreck the season if they continue.
