Dolphins Gearing Up for 3rd Preseason Game

This one matters the most and is the Dolphins dress rehearsal for the season

In the NFL, the 3rd Preseason Game is the big one because the starters see the most action and play into the 3rd quarter. Anyone who has seen the Dolphins play this preseason will know that Coach Flores has not been shy about playing his starters more than normal. I’m fine with this because the Phins are a very raw team, and we’ve had more important action to see.

Personally, I am hoping to see Rosen continue to show improvement and Fitzpatrick to not show much. The best scenario is that Rosen wins the QB competition and gets this full season to show us what he has. We need as much film as possible going towards his overall evaluation. If Rosen isn’t the answer, then we need to know that by the end of this season.

Miami can’t miss out on the very good class of QB’s coming out next year. If we’re not 100% sold on Rosen, then Miami must get their hands on one of those prospects.

Phins need to come out of this one as healthy as possible

Another big key is the Dolphins must get out of this game with limited injuries. We are already beaten up and can’t afford anymore. Every team has their fair share of injuries, but once again the Dolphins already have a long list of players that have been limited in training camp. Not putting any more names to that list will be a big plus.

The crucial part of tonight’s game is keeping an eye on the ‘bubble player’. Some guys must show their mark to start or make the 53 man roster. Players like Prince, Laird, Gaskin, Needum, Smythe, Williams, and Calhoun will either be fighting for starting spots or just to make the team.

Finally, the Phins defensive secondary has had an easy time with B and C list QBs. Tonight’s test against a good QB in Nick Foles will be revealing. How our defense fairs against a quality passer will give a good indication whether their success so far was more about bad quarterback or their talents.

‘Patriots Way’ South Florida style

I’m also looking forward to seeing a little bit more of that Patriot way that I saw pop up in the last preseason game: Going for it on 4th goal, the quick snap that caused a penalty on the defense, and not letting the Bucs get players off the field on a punt that got us a new set off downs. These are little details that often get overlooked. However, these are the exact little details that the Patriots have excelled at. I love that Flores is incorporating them now in Miami.

The best betting software for bookmakers (AcePerHead.com) has the Dolphins as the home town favorite with a line of -3. At the moment, all the action is on the Dolphins. Regardless if they win this game or not, you can bet that Coach Flores and his team will do everything they can to win this game. That’s what it’s all about… even in preseason.

What are some of the rest of the Miami Dolphins News fans looking to see from this third preseason game? Who are some specific players that you will be keeping a close eye on?
