Dolphins Face Ex-Coach Across the Pond

The Miami Dolphins will be losing a home game this weekend because instead of being in Miami, they will be playing in London against the New York Jets. This is a must-win game. If Miami goes 1-3 and 0-2 in the AFC East, then the season will most likely be a lost cause: an utter disappointment. The team is at a crossroads, and they need to make a statement in England if they want to salvage their season.

The New York Jets have been playing better than expected this season, and they always play the Dolphins tight. In addition, new Jets head coach Todd Bowles was once the Defensive coordinator for the Dolphins. Also, he was the interim head coach for the ‘Phins when they fired Tony Sparano mid-season in 2011. Most football gambling fans would bet that Bowles has some extra motivation to win this upcoming game.

The Dolphins offense and defense are both in total disarray, and hopefully, the coaching staff has made some necessary changes this week to clean things up. There was a report that one of the players said the coaching staff was making them practice too hard. Regardless if this is true or not, players should be practicing hard. The players have also been complaining about the play-calling selection. However, even if that is true, the players should not be vocally complaining – it makes it seems the rats are fleeing the ship. The team needs to be a team and stop the complaining, the excuses, and go out and execute good solid football without careless penalties.

The best sportsbook opened the line with the Jets as a -2.5 point favorite. The action has been steadily coming in on the Jets. This is no surprise since the Jets have been playing decent and the Dolphins have been playing terribly. What is surprising is that the line has been moving in the opposite direction of the action, with the line moving down to -1.5 for the Jets. When the line moves in the opposite direction of the action, this usually means that the sharp action is coming in on the other side, which in this case means the Dolphins.

Hopefully, a new continent can make the Dolphins play like a new team because if they play the way they have been this is going to be another long afternoon and an ugly loss. I would love to say that I believe the Dolphins can turn it around and start to play the way we all believe they can. However, they have yet to show any life or identity this season, so I am skeptical if they can magically do it now. The only thing that makes me think they will win is because of the betting line that’s moving in their favor. The sharp guys are betting on the ‘Phins and that is a good sign. Hopefully, the Sharps see something in their magic 8 ball that we Miami Dolphins News fans do not. What does the rest of the Miami Dolphins news fans think about this upcoming Jets game?

Time to move on! Here is my next Head Coach Recommendation:

David Lorenzo Shaw is the head coach of the Stanford Cardinal football team. Shaw was the team’s offensive coordinator for the entire tenure of head coach Jim Harbaugh from 2007 to 2010. Previously, Shaw was a four-year letter winner playing as a wide receiver for the Cardinal from 1991 to 1994, where he was coached by Dennis Green and Bill Walsh. Prior to returning to Stanford as offensive coordinator, Shaw was Harbaugh’s passing game coordinator at the University of San Diego and an assistant coach in the NFL for the Philadelphia Eagles, Oakland Raiders, and Baltimore Ravens.

I’m here in London and the fans here are overwhelmingly in favor of the Dolphins
At yesterday’s rally I met several European fans and it seems that they don’t follow the team very closely but love the Dolphins
So the Dolphins will surely have the home team advantage here with most of the fans rooting for them
    Will that help ? I don’t know
But if they loose to the Jets then that means we are really not a very good team no matter what we thought at the start of the season
Those high expectations of making the playoffs are already gone for most of us
Now we are hoping to pull some upsets and just win at least 5 games this season
But even though we thought our Roster was great – it has had its flaws cost us dearly
I think there were several mistakes made by the front office this year
    The most glaring ones are
    1 not signing Mathis
2 not getting a fullback to block
3 acquiring Stills for a third round draft pick
4 not drafting a Guard in the second round
5 not firing Philbin and Coyle this past week
6 bringing in Tannebaum – his decisions proved to be bad moves for the team
7 not drafting s middle linebacker third Orr fourth round
8 trading Davis when we don’t have a good corner
9 attempting to trade our #2 receiver Mathews
10 not helping Tannehill to develop a decent deep passing capability – he is good on the short passes but not that good when he has to lob the ball deep

All bad decisions by the front office
True they did make some good decisions in getting rid of Wallace and our 2 linebackers who weren’t worth a damm
But our QB needs more protection to be effective and we did not even address that

We have one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL and that alone will cost us several games and prevent us from exploting our forte which is the passing game with the good receivers we have
So how much influence did the coach have in all these decisions ? Who made the mistakes front office or coach
After 4 years we have learned the obvious Philbin is not head coach material makes bad decisions is uninspiring and as a tactician leaves a lot to be desired. He is afraid to have strong personality players, and is a horrible motivator
But hey he is a nice guy
So what qualities does he posses that our owner sees? Probably good bullshiter snd good administrator
It’s time to start all over we are more than one player away from being a playoff contender
But here I am supporting our team and I will continue to support it
I just wish we had a Shula type coach again that could handle good players with strong personalities
We want to win not to be nice guys Get rid of the political correctness

  • JTDeth

Philbin is the perfect example of the Peter Principle – being promoted up to the level where you are in over your head and incompetent, at which point you remain stuck at that position. Almost every great Head Coach has one or more distinguishing characteristics in great measure – innovation (Walsh, Coryell, Landry, Gilman) or inspiration (Lombardi, Shula) or excellence in tactical adjustments (Belichick, Grant) or teaching (Noll). Philbin lacks all these characteristics. Probably he is a nice person, decent guy but he is just in over his head. Hence the cronyism, the being out of touch with the locker room, the inability to pull people together to work in an inspired manner.

Hopefully Lazor can rise to the occasion and turn it around. If not it will be a long season and we will find a first rate coach next year.

Yeah, Philbust might get tossed into the can with loss…Well if we beat the JETS I’m happy…If they lose then I’m sad, but seeing Philly get canned might make me feel better….Sad state of afffairs for my beloved Fins!

  • Stephen Fabrizio

Take the obvious and then do the opposite. The sharp and savvy bettors know this. The obvious is bet the Jets. Jimmy as you said the Jets have looked better than expected and the Dolphins have looked much worse than expected. Maybe this teams’ potential finally comes out? However, on a more sour note, a loss just might seal Philbins’ and Coyles’ fate and a new HC plus DC may be installed for the rest of the season. Go Fins!
