Dolphins Crazy Win Offers Hope & Concern

The Dolphins have had some crazy wins in 2018… this one was the wildest

Dolphins were able to squash some sour grapes along with getting the “W”

Now that was one wild win for the Miami Dolphins! While the Phins lack consistency, they sure can keep you on the edge of your seat.

However you qualify the win, the Dolphins are in the hunt for a Playoff spot.

Without a doubt, I was happy to see Jordan Phillips eat crow. He’s a bum in every sense of the word as a  football player. He proved why he was let go with his idiotic penalty and attitude. Charles Clay, on the other hand, was a good player and a good guy. I didn’t take an extra joy in his failure.

Because of the nail-biting win, this week’s game against the Pats has real implications. Add to this, the Vikes and Jags look beatable, and the Bills, while at home, aren’t juggernauts.

So IF Miami wins this week things very interesting.

Still, we need to be sober about the realities because this is a very big ‘if’. Despite the hope brought by the victory, plenty of issues were made all too plain to see.

Now, it should be clear that Josh Allen brings unique qualities to the position, despite his shortcomings. Allen did the same thing to a tough Jags defense that he did to Miami. As I was watching the Jags / Bills game, I was amazed at what he was able to do. Is it a style of play that he can run forever? No. But in the short term, this type of play puts huge undo pressure on a defense. So some of the issues we saw this week won’t apply against the Pats. Of course, the breakdowns in the secondary and lack of run defense will certainly apply…. even more so.

The Good & Concerns:
  1. Ryan Tannehill had the type of game you want… for the most part. Yet, a bad pick and lack of yards takes some shine off his 3 touchdown performance. But this is the level of play many fans had hoped for.  While this game managing play won’t take over games, it will give Miami a chance week in and week out.
  2. Travis Swanson is missed. Jake Brendel is fine at Center… but anything that moves Ted Larsen from Left Guard is a good thing. He isn’t a Left Guard. Larsen constantly needs help from the Center and Davis is left along too much. This exposes the interior O-line. Brendel as Left Guard, Swanson as Center, and Davis at Right Guard is a much better lineup.
  3. Do we have Tightends on the roster? Nick O’Reilly made a big play on Sunday, but we need much more from the position. The disappointment in rookie Gesicki is growing exponentially.
  4. As I said before the game, Miami’s 2016 defense was All-World bad with Vance Joseph. In 2018, the defense is All-World bad with Matt Burke. We can talk about the coaches plenty… but the architects of this defense needs to be held accountable because they are the only constant. Maybe it would be better if Gase took a more macro view of his team rather than just on the offense.
  5. What a great nice pick in the 2nd Round Xavian Howard was! Will Miami pony up the dough to keep him? They certainly won’t let him go… Will they?
  6. Minkah was another very good pick. He has done a very fine job at every spot he has been put into. Image how good he’ll be when he is finally put in the spot he was meant for: Cover 1 Safety.
All that matters now is how Miami plays against the Pats this week

While Miami was able to pull in the win… with some help from former friends, they’ll need to play a ton better to beat the Pats. But, let’s remember Miami won against them last year… and that Dolphins team was worse. Problem is that unlike last season, New England can run the ball this time around.

Tannehill was again covered up in a critical situation this week This time it was with the Wildcat on 3rd & 1. Gase won’t be able to avoid having Tannehill make a critical play in a big spot against Belichick. Does Gase not trust Tannehill? Can Tannehill prove he isn’t the issue? Both coach and QB will need to be at their best this week to win.

I know this is for certain: Miami won’t get 13 penalties from their opponent this week to bail them out. This Sunday Miami won’t be given a damn thing. Heck, even the refs will likely be against them. If the Phins want the ‘W’ this week, they’ll need to take with both hands. Go Phins!!!

    Hello Admin

This is where the Miami Dolphins get themselves in a ton of trouble: The Quarterbacks who are scheduled as 1st rounders in the 2019 draft I’m certain This is an missed calculation by the experts and should not be that High. My opinion they have not proven that they can carry their team? and they Surely will have to carry the Miami Dolphins when they cannot play a full 60 minutes and decide to go into Mediocre Status?

Grier in the NFL may only be a Back-Up at best! You asked me and this is my assessment Originally he was ranked about 2nd to 4th rounder. He has made the headlines etc. But Miami needs to stay away from average Quarterbacks. I’m not the expert, I could be dead wrong.

Grier played well overall for West Virginia in 2017. He has a quality arm and can throw the ball with accuracy, but needs to improve his field vision and decision-making for the NFL. Grier was only in his first full season as a starter in 2017, so he was wise return to West Virginia for 2018 to improve before going pro. For 2017, Grier completed 64 percent of his passes for 3,490 yards with 34 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He also had to have surgery after a finger injury sustained versus Texas. That caused him to miss the final two games of the year, against Oklahoma and Utah.

In 2015 playing for Florida, Grier completed 66 percent of his passes for 1,204 yards with 10 touchdowns and three interceptions. He was impressive for the Gators before testing positive for steroids. That led to him transferring to West Virginia. Sources say that Grier and his family can be high-maintenance personalities who some teams are going to shy away from

Weaknesses: Somewhat undersized and has major arm-strength issues. Simply can’t drive the ball on longer throws that don’t have a ton of air under them. Can get overly anxious when pressure mounts and try to do too much by way of scrambling, which leads to big plays for the defense. Surprising amount of coverage misreading. A lot of quick screens must be factored into his production.

    https://nflmocks.com/2018/10/26/nfl-draft-many-teams-need-quarterbacks/

The Iowa State Cyclones defense suffocated a West Virginia offense that was averaging 526.8 yards per game entering the contest. The Mountaineers finished with 147 total yards, and Will Grier had a game to forget. The senior quarterback threw for 100 yards, one touchdown and an interception.

Saturday was essentially a role reversal between the two teams, as West Virginia couldn’t stop the Iowa State offense.

Brock Purdy threw for 254 yards, three touchdowns and one interception, and David Montgomery ran for 189 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries.

West virginia and Oklahoma Murray and Grier (Murray is the best QB in this draft) if he entered the draft? But the experts will not recognized him.(He has Pro Baseball offers etc.)

The Best player and most impact-full for this team will be the top defensive linemen or top inside linebacker 2019 draft. We have the opportunity to draft a pure passer and a double threat quarterbacks in rounds 3. Miami needs three quarterbacks 1.(Pure Passer with pocket awareness) 2. (Double threat QB with Heisman status or second runner up) 3.(We still need to get Luke Falk in the game soon as his wrist is healed)

The Fans witnessed the Bills QB’s the best player for the Bills with 7 games under his belt in the NFL and our QB has 7 seasons still questionable?

On the honest note its out there that he has a medical problem but my real suspicion are that he’s taking a lot of heat about not doing enough about one of his coaches spousal abuse case?

Urban Meyer has retired three times, twice at Florida and once at Ohio State, a decision he announced Tuesday morning. There was also two leave of absences at Florida.

He’s 54 and owns three national titles (two at UF, one at OSU) plus two additional unbeaten seasons; one at Utah, one at OSU. Neither resulted in a title due to the BCS and a postseason ban, respectively.

The style of coaching that I’ve done for 33 years is very intense, very demanding,” Meyer said. “I’ve tried to delegate more, be CEO-ish more. The product started to fail.”

    He’s 82-9 at Ohio State.

I was thinking the same thing about the legal issue. I think Gase will be back though. 7-9 might be enough for Ross to move… but he’d have to fire his friend Tannenbaum and his pick in Gase…. that’s a lot to swallow…

    Admin!

    Nice Article!

Will the Dolphins entertained this opportunity?

Ohio State coach Urban Meyer plans to step down and will coach his final game in the Rose Bowl, sources told Yahoo Sports.

A myriad of factors contributed to Meyer’s decision, but sources say foremost among them was his happiness with the state of the Ohio State program he inherited seven years ago. Meyer, 54, will be replaced by Ryan Day, the 39-year-old offensive coordinator who served as Ohio State’s interim coach earlier this season. The university will announce Day as the permanent replacement on Tuesday, and the team was scheduled to be informed in a meeting early Tuesday morning.

That’s interesting… thought he was retiring. What do you think of him as an NFL HC. Saban left a bad taste in my mouth for big time college coaches coming into the NFL. Doesn’t he have health concerns? Don’t watch enough college to know how good he is. College is such a recruitment heavy game, sometimes great recruiters become great without being great coaches. I’ll start looking into it.

        Admin:

The Dolphins can bring him into the Operation allowing him what ever control he wants? A year or two Gase does not work out We have Myers in the building. The Dolphins must “ACT” Compare Meyers and the Harbaugh Brother’s Since Meyer became coach, Ohio State is 6-0 against Michigan.

one topic of conversation is whether Harbaugh can finally beat Ohio State as a coach. He did beat Ohio State as a Michigan quarterback. He’s 0-3 against the Buckeyes since taking over Dec. 16, 2014.

Here are the Facts: Miami has not defeated the Patriots in New England in over 10 years and each season we get more Mediocre and will not face the truth:

Miami Dolphins History lead series 54-52-0
New England has 10 Wins at home:
        9/30/2018
        09/21/2008

Glad you liked it… I hope I get help in here soon. Been swamped trying to keep up. Been looking at this guy WILL GRIER, QB, WEST VIRGINIA. He seems pretty good and might be in Miami’s range. Howard being out hurts a lot. This team is luckless… so weird.
