Can The Dolphins Keep The Momentum Going

Momentum was on Miami's side before the Bye-Week.

Momentum was on Miami’s side before the Bye-Week.

Football is a game of physically and psychologically momentum.

Winning a football game involves the culmination of many aspects working together, and momentum is right at the top of that list.

One definition for momentum is: strength or force that allows something to continue or to grow stronger or faster as time passes.

In football, one form of momentum can occur during the course of a game when a team strings together a series of impact plays. This type of momentum can cause a game to swing from one team’s favor to another team’s favor.

Another type of momentum is one that carries from game to game, where teams put together multiple games of success and victories.

Miami has used the former type of momentum to gain the latter type and is looking to keep the good times rolling by winning a third straight game — a feat that Miami hasn’t accomplished since 2014.

One thing that could derail this new found success is the Bye-Week. While the time off allowed Miami to heal, it could also derail their mojo. That’s the thing about momentum in football: it’s most apt to keep going when a team’s normal routine is uninterrupted

Since Coach Adam Gase is in his first year as a head coach, best pay per head fans will be very interested to see how his players to perform against the Jets given the extra time. Good coaches tend to win games after a Bye-Week. So Sunday will be an important gauge as to whether Gase deserves a spot on that list of good coaches or not.

Hopefully the Dolphins can continue the ride with the J-train as the conductor. Funny how in a passing league, Miami’s fate rests on the run. It’s about time. Go Fins!!!

Lemmus, Lemmus, Lemmus; Downers, after the past 3 weeks, especially following that dreaded Tennessee game? The fashion the games were played and won. Let us all enjoy and prematurely consider what could be (playoffs).

The J-Train is for real, and no the J-Train can not run without a healthy front 5, no excuse me, front 7 (2 TE sets).

The last 2 games have been the most complete, team wins we have witnessed in quite some time.

After all, a lose to the hated Jets and we are right where we were 3 weeks ago. That is the position this team has put themselves in. Heck I was even starting to break down some aspects of the ’17 draft following that Tennessee game.

So, NO. No one should pump the brakes at all. Full speed ahead. Keep the momentum going as fast as we can because a win this Sunday and the immediate schedule ahead and wow, playoffs could be a possibility.

The scary part of Sundays game is that the difference of the game may be on Tanny, and that has been as helter skelter as anything or anyone. Then again, the J-Train got rolling against the #5 run defense followed by the #1 run defense (at the time), so one never knows. Not even Lemmus.

As a Miami fan, Yes lets talk playoffs, Lets hype the J-Train, let us ride the Momentum Train and enjoy every minute of it. This has been and might be the only time we can bask in the sun this season. If not, and the J-Train continues to lead the Momentum Train the word “PLAYOFFS” may even come out of Lemmus’ mouth.

Enjoy, Enjoy every minute Miami Fans!!!

    The J-Train rolls on…….

      …when we’re 8-4, talk to me
…otherwise, been there, done that …waaaaaay to many times
…call me agnostic on the fins …maybe I’ll start believing again
…big maybe …I’m no longer taking them on faith alone

…the Jests have a pretty good run defense, two games worth of film on our new offense, and a damn good defensive minded HC …Ajayi isn’t going to catch them napping …if he gets 100+ on them, I’ll start to think our run offense is for real …but even there, I still think this game will come down to Mr Inconsistant proving he no longer is …or not

….not saying the Jests will win …just think it could be another Cleveland …and hope I’ts not another Tennessee …but we’ll all know the real story about this time three days hence …seriously hope you’re right and I’m wrong, eh

I agree for the most part Lemmus, BUT for this week Miami will have a big advantage as Mangold and Clady won’t be playing as neither practiced this week. If they were in I’d be a bit more worried. You are right that the Jest DL will do well and it will take a few QTRs to break the Jets open…Marshall is the wild car though. If the Dolphins don’t completely crap the bed then they should win. If they completely crap the bed it will be a huge bummer and begin me a wonderin’ again…

The MAIN reason for the recent success is the commitment to and therefore success of the run game. In large part the moves Gase made cutting the two G’s and switching the lineup as well as the return of Pouncey were key.

The run game has improved the D for obvious reasons. Now, Gase has to find a way to expand the success of the run game into the passing game. In order for the fins to continue winning, they must be able to provide the offset threat. Any team can load up the box and take your run game away, and if I were an opposing coach, I would do just that and press/bump…no…molest the receivers at the LOS and blitz Tanny.

There has to be a “next step” in the progression of this offense if the fins are to make a run for a playoff game.

    There…I said it….Playoffs!

    • Dunner

Freak, well said. It couldn’t be more true. We could have an advantage if CBs press or molest our WRs. Our WRs are very good at beating both. Now, can Tanny recognize and beat the blitz, lets hope so, because that is the next step in the progression Freak is talking about. She w be able to compliment the run with the pass, we are onto something. But, that has not been able to happenthus far.

Did I just say “compliment the run with the pass”? Wow how this team’s identity has changed since that Tennessee game. I like it!

      J-Train Hoot Hoot!!!

…y’all need to take a couple downers, eh

…Jests have one of the best run defenses in the league …the so called J-train doesn’t make or find his own holes, he runs through ones opened for him …and benefits mightily from decent WR blocking past the LoS ….not knocking Ajayi, he makes the best of what is given him …but the Jests have his tapes and will be ready for him

…we need to run regardless of what the Jests do ….but I’m thinking if we win this one, it will be on TH’s arm …the Jests pass defense has been poor (which is why they’re 2=5) ….if the Jests crowd the line to stop the run, Landry and Stills should own their dbs …I think we will see more of Parker in this game as well …and they can’t double Landry consistently and still stop the run …I expect him to have a good game …he’s overdue

…but here we go again, the OL has to pass protect well for TH to succeed ….and stay injury free because the talent drop off at backup sucks buttermilk

…been here before …a couple good games and we all start talking playoffs …then reality hits

…maybe this time it will be different …maybe

I’ve been trying to get s upbeat as you on the Playoffs. So far I can’t. I think it’s possible, but still need to see more. I do think they will win today, but it’s a long run the playoffs with 4 losses. If they can stay healthy and keep running the ball even half as good as they have over the last two games, then your prediction might very well end up right. I sure hope you are!!!!

    Momentum, momentum, momentum……..

Should we beat the Jets Sunday the Momentum-Train (just as the J-Train) will be full speed. Full speed ahead.

Following the Jets game, we could very well be getting back 3 big pieces to the defense. Yes big/key pieces. Who you ask? How about Mitchell, he was the starter opposite Suh when season started, now he comes back healthy and fresh, big boost for the overall depth of the D-Line. How about Howard, believe we all know that if healthy he will be one of the starting CBs. Speaking of CBs, C.Culliver could also make his season debut. What does this mean, we’re not sure? Should he come back as the player that was in San Francisco, he would be starting opposite Howard, if not he strengthens our special teams unit either way.

So, the J-Train is FULL speed ahead with the Momentum-Train right behind it. Beat the Jets and suddenly this team is meshing and all are on board (boy how I wish R.Jones was physically a part of this), and the team is receiving defensive help throughout. Nice thing is, is that the league for the most part doesn’t realize what is taking place overall with this team , most just see whats on the surface. In a perfect world Deon Jordan comes out of now where and jumps on the trains and helps keep the J-Train and Momentum-Train FULL speed ahead.

I love saying, typing, writing J-TRAIN!!!!

Sorry for the late reply…Steve was right that whiplash takes awhile to go away, still jacked up! Reshad would have been awesome to have right now. He is just a great player. To me Pouncey is the key to the run game. Miami has been running some nice run game schemes to cover his weakness and allow him to use his strengths. With two key OL out this weak it seems the Dolphins should win…can’t wait!!!

Momentum Facts: Part of the formula for two Supper Bowl Titles.

Csonka, and Kick help carry the Dolphins to their 1st Supper Bowl AFC Championship.
Csonka and Eugene M. Morris were the 1st two R/B that both ran for a thousand yards
Kick was used on 3rd down and ran for bout 700 yards.
Among the 3 of them they score 24 Touch downs.

That’s what I love the most: the return of the run game. I lived a good life as a Fin Fan when Ricky came. I loved him in college and the trade was a Godsend and, as a former RB, I love the run game. This return to hard-nosed play is as good as it gets. I loved Marino, but one reason I wanted to be a back was to one day play for Miami to help him — dreams of the young. So now here we are and Ajayi is legit — when they can get him to the LOS (before the LOS he is no Barry). So yeah Steve, this is good times for me, but I’m trying to keep the reins tight just in case there is a rug pull.
