Can the Dolphins actually have a home field advantage

Back in the days of Don Shula, the Dolphins were a very good team at home, especially in the first two months of the season. The players would train all summer long in the obscenely high temperatures of the Miami sun, and when the season finally started they had an obvious advantage over opponents that traveled to Miami to play in September and October. No matter how physically fit these teams were, the heat of the Miami sun, would wear on opponents by the 4th quarter.

Over the last 10 years, between a combination of poor talent, and an owner who wanted to move Sunday games away from the peak heat time of 1pm, the Miami Dolphins home field advantage has been nothing but a distant memory. What is ironic, is that Ross did not want the phins fans to not have to sweat their tails off during early season home games, and thus enjoy the game more, but if the end result is going to be watching a losing performance than I don’t think the phins fans feel like the comfort level is worth the sacrifice.

Fortunately the next two games will be home games kicking off at 1pm, and there is an outside chance that phins news fans may actually see a glimpse of what it is like to have a home field advantage again. The reason I say this is because of Philbin’s installation of his new offense that often uses a hurry up no huddle approach. The sportsbook betting software strategy is that when the 4th quarter approaches this weekend against Oakland, there should be a lot of opportunities to take advantage of a gas’d out Oakland defense. The weather is supposed to be in the high 80’s, so there is a strong possibility that with a no huddle offense, a pumped up opening day home crowd, and extremely high on field temperatures, that the Dolphins may actually have a noticeable advantage in this game, that will hopefully be reflected in the final score.

The Dolphins lost homefield advantage when they moved from the Orange Bowl. Even with Marino there was a considerable decline from what they were. The stadium we’re in is worthless fanwise. With the seats so far from the field there’s no sense of closenss to the action and the crowd can’t create nearly as much noise as they could in the OB (remember that game against Chicago in ’85?). I’ve attended many games in both stadiums–there is absolutely no comparison.

To add to that, Ross began catering to the comfort of the fans. We don’t need comfort, we need to be miserable hot, because we’re used to it–the opponents aren’t. Play as many games as possible at 1pm.

Unless Ross recognizes that their current stadium was an utter waste and rebuilds, Miami will never be a strong home favorite. It was a choice of money over a football product; they wanted more luxury suites. They may be filling the suites, but they sure aren’t filling the seats.

A properly-built stadium will contribute to a winning product, which will fill the seats, which will give Miami homefield advantage again.

Yeah I agree about the Stadium, and yes I remembering watching that game when I was a little kid, Im getting goose bumps right now just thinking about it. Yes this guy Ross does not get it, the fans don’t care about comfort, we care about Wins. And our advantage is playing as many home 1pm games in September and October as possible

  • Ireland is a country not a GM

I heard Sedano on the radio yesterday ask what was the over under on the number of TDs the Phins will score on offense by the midpoint of the season. One of the cohosts said ten. Considering they have one game in the books already with 0 TDs scored by the offense, I’m saying under. What do you think?

Home field advantage??? What with all 25,000 butts in the seats? NFW dude.

Ross and Ireland lied to the fans…this is a rebuilding year (all over again)…

The only advantage Fins have this week is da raidaz long flight east on a short week – period. I think it’ll translate to a 3 point win.

I know the crowd might be sparse, but I think the heat coupled with the no huddle offense will give the phins the home field advantage. Def right about long flight on a shortened week, I think you are dead on with the 3 point win prediction. 17-14 Phins
