Adam Gase Bringing Excitement, But Can He Bring Wins?

Adam Gase bringing excitement, but can he bring wins?

Adam Gase puts a smile on Jason Taylor, but will fans be smiling come week 1?

Adam Gase is bringing excitement to players and fans, but will it amount to wins?

Adam Gase has already brought a refreshing directness and positive attitude to the building. Many players are already praising Gase’s energy, excitement and approachable nature, things that were sorely missing when Philbin was the head coach the past four years. Adam Gase maybe bringing excitement, but the most important question is, can he bring wins?

It’s often said that a team generally plays like the personality of their head coach. Under the stewardship of Coach Philbin, Miami tried to play with finesse, and but instead were robotic, flat, lacking inspiration or physicality. Based on Coach Gase’s personality, if they adopt his persona, Miami should play with more energy, enjoyment of the game, and an attack mentality.

Gase believes in being the “dictators” on the field – not being dictated too.

However, all Miami Dolphins News fans have bought a ticket to this ride before. New coaches new hype…yadda, yadda, yadda. For too long the initial amusement has ended with the same, downward, stomach churning dive that has led to the new coach eventually being ejected from the roll coaster before it has finished its run. If you look around the league and compare the perennial playoff teams, they have certain core things in common, they acquire most of their talent in the draft, have a great coach with long tenure, and have an elite QB.

This season we will quickly find which of the three we have – all, some…non.

Fans always want to their to be a positive side, even when the team has not given even the best at football gambling to bet on. As die hard fans who will always support their team, that’s the only way to be. So once again, Miami has a new head coach. Will this one be different? No one – I mean no one can say definitively! So, while Adam Gase has done very little so far turn a fan sour, I’m not ready to stake my reputation on his success. But, I will say this, out of the gate he is light year ahead of Philbin. Go Fins!!!

The Jets had considered Ray Rice! Why not the Dolphins I think he has paid enough and would be a nice Veteran Back? He was listed in 2013 with about 11 TD’s,

I would say that at this point that Gase needs to set the tone and outside distractions…and they would be legion over his signing, isn’t worth it at this point. I would agree…for a established locker room it might work.

Small School Another Impact player who may not get drafted.

Matt Judon, DE, Grand Valley State

You want production? Judon led all divisions of college football in 2015 with 20 sacks. He posted 19 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks as a junior in 2014.

You want athleticism? Judon weighed in at 6’3″, 275 pounds at the combine, then he ran a 4.73 40-yard dash, put up 30 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press and launched to a 35-inch vertical jump. Those numbers put him among the top performers at defensive end in every category.

Very nice Steve, As long as the ’16 defense can stop the run I will be satisfied. Sure we would like a top 5 defense that is strong at both pass/run, if it has to be one, let it be the run.

As nice a guy Philbin may have benn/is, it just seemed he never earned the respect of his players, looking from outside in. Being a fan and following the team, we indeed know that was the case. Gase and comp. have instilled a different environment in just a couple months. Oddly enough, it was from letting go of a handful of their younger players, the opposite of the normal cleaning. I get a sense there will be more of an emphasis on accountability. The coaches will put these players in the most successful scheme depending on players fit, unlike the former staff(s), they tried to get the players to fit their scheme, opposed to letting the players dictating the scheme(s). I believe that is where the arrogance oozes from Gase, and the people around him sense it. I feel we have that kind of coach and staff in place finally. Just as they say Billacheat is good for 2-3 wins as a coach, lets hope we get similar results.

Philbin always seems a coward, passive aggressive type that always made me feel uneasy listening to him. Never, ever did I think o him as a leader. The only hope I saw was that he was a genius and could overcome all his flaws with supreme acumen…that wasn’t the case. Gase at least is a man. He says what he thinks and isn’t afraid the stand for it. He is a little weird with the stare and eye pop thing he does, but he might just be very brilliant and eccentric. So far though some of his comments to players and press shows me he has balls…I’ll take that.

Continuation of the Destruction of the Dolphins the last 5 years!

        Taken from the Sun Sentinel!

Does Joe Philbin know what he’s doing?

Because this latest, boldest move of trading Davis two weeks before the season opener started with Philbin, not Jeff Ireland. It was the new coach demanding to dump the second-best player on last year’s defense, not the old general manager who drafted Davis in the first place.

Don’t be fooled by Philbin’s self-deprecating approach and good-uncle demeanor. Look at his hard-boiled actions in these opening months. He’s making Nick Saban and Bill Parcells look like pansies.

Philbin wanted the team’s best playmaker (and biggest headache) in Brandon Marshall to be traded. He allowed HBO’s “Hard Knocks” in the room. He cut receiver Chad Johnson for the very kind of behavior that made signing him a head-scratcher.

He called out linebacker Karlos Dansby for talking back. He named a rookie with 19 college starts his quarterback. Now he’s traded a prime-time player with Pro Bowl potential for his childish ways. Whew.

People keep looking at Philbin and asking if he’s tough enough. That’s the wrong question. Read that to-do list again. Philbin is plenty tough enough to make decisions most coaches wouldn’t.

Continuation: This is the number of draft picks Philbin received for the Parker, Marshall etc.

Here is a look at all of Miami’s 2013 draft picks and how they got them.

Keep in mind that the Dolphins annually barter picks to move up and down the draft. Last year Ireland made two draft day trades. So don’t be surprised if they end up with less selections when the draft finally arrives.

        1st round — 12th overall
        2nd round — 42nd
2nd round — 54th (from Colts for the trade of cornerback Vontae Davis)
        3rd round — 77th
3rd round — 82nd (from Bears for the trade of receiver Brandon Marshall)
        4th round — 110th
        5th round — 146th
        5th round — 166th (compensatory)
        7th round — 217th
7th round — 224th (from Dallas for the trade of center Ryan Cook)
        7th round — 250th (compensatory)

Tough to me is being able to deal with the situation not running from it. He could cut a guy but not stand up to him and put him in his place. He wasn’t tough enough and that’s why the ship started to run amock. He was afraid and chose to kick players out. There are tough wise decisions and impetuous foolish decisions…Very scared people can react in a way that seems bold but its motivation isn’t out of strength but fear. The fact he got queasy during a game revealed the type of guy he is….at least that’s how I saw it.

        Continuation:

Did we gain any key players from trading Parker, Marshall etc.? A coach that is so quick to discard his player is not the way the Fins need to go again? We are still paying for those costly moves. Philbin Tilted the Dolphins Success Scales towards A losing Scale. Nothing personel!

Ireland was no winner either…but if weighed, Philbin would be considered far more wanting – in my opinion.

Coach Philbin Failed with Tannehill because his staff refused to incorporate his natural gifts into to offense. He failed to run the Dolphins his way. He allowed the Dolphins to Dictate how to run this team. Instead Philbins staff force Tannehill to sit back into the pocket and get murdered for four season. Instead of allowing him to be that mobile QB he is. Its hard to confine A Russel Wilson into the Pocket are he would be the same way. Miami needs to incorporate Matt Moore into the offense verses riding the Bench. Example Denver two QB’s. The fins would be a better team drafting Cardale Jones for the future verses Bench warmers. I want my QB’s hungry not Bench Warmers. Wining is not pleasing always to everybody. The New England PAT’s can make those business moves easy. 2008 last D Title. “We are getting RESTLESS” We are 2 games better than the Cleveland Brown and 3 games better than the Titans currently.

    • admin

The system and gameplan was insane…let’s take a mobile QB and force him to sit on the spot…I think they were idiots, high, or both!

2012/2013 This was the start of destroying a strong defense and offense by lacking the coaching experienced to coach diverse personalities in your locker room. A coach will never have all perfect players, A great coach can figured out how to motivate his players with problems and to Win Games as a team player vs just trade them away and dont deal with them. We dont live in a perfect world. Philbin Traded Devontee Parker Corner Back, Wide Receiver Marshall still today has not replaced them yet? Its been trail and Erorr?

        • admin

Ohhh man I agree…That’s one of the major reasons I like Gase he can stand his ground with men…Philbin was afraid of his own shadow…I still remember the picking the gum off the ground thing….

    Contiuation:

Dolphins last Division Title 2008 (We are now 2016 still down hill where’w the play offs)

Defense: The 2008 Dolphins had their best defensive team in years and as a result of the draft and free agency, they should improve on their 2008 defensive performance. The Dolphins drafted CB’s Sean Smith and Vontae Davis, and picked up LB Jason Taylor and FS Gibril Wilson via free agency. In addition, they did not lose any key players.

Summary: The Dolphins improved their team during the off season through the draft and free agency and Head Coach Tony Sparano is getting more comfortable with the organization. As a result, 12-4 and a division title are not out of the question.

Outlook: 11-5 first in the AFC East

That being said Who will make a differents ///capable of taking over A defense 2016?
4th round———–103th picked Tyler Matakevich ILB Temple (Agressive + A Leader
1st rounder ——–Alex Hargreaves CB (Described as a Shut Down Corner) His hieght at 5’10 I have concern’s about But placed in that Category is worth Risk if he is able to locked down his side of the field in the NFL???

What type Defense will Coach Gase have this 2016? Mediocre or Dominant across the league?? A defense the Fans cheer for or will they Boo At?

Coach Gase will have to Coach this team, and make in clear on the field he’s the Coach and demand respect from ownership/Management and the players if he plans to succeed. He cannot play a player because the powers that be once to play him. Thats why the Dolphins are at 6-10 now because they dont know.

Coach Case can study the 2008 Dolphins Which is The last winning season of the Dolphins.

Here’s a brief edition from 2009 Miami Dolphins

Offense: I expect for Chad Pennington, Ronnie Brown, and Ricky Williams to continue where they left off last season. While teams will gear their defensive to prevent the wildcat formation, this trio will have just as much success in standard formation. The Dolphins had a solid 2009 NFL draft and bulked up on offense adding the versatile playmaker QB Pat White and WR’s Brian Hartline and Patrick Turner.

I’m not promoting Wild CAT but does not the Dolphins have two great Running Backs in the back field and a Proven QB? I.E Ezekiel Elliot is needed in Maimi’s Back field.

    • admin

Elliot is somehow revolving around the Fins…not sure if they want to get him or are doing a JJ and trying to avoid the choice. Not sure which it is.

  • Randy Lenz

without 2 very good starting Guards. the O. Line will do nothing. and the offense will be grounded again. and R.T qukk be running for his life.

    • admin

Agree and stats are showing that interior linemen are now starting to gain invalue and that the LG is very near the LT spot do to the value and effect of interior pressure. But, I think both guys are plugs till the G’s of this regimes choice are picked up in the draft Also, with the stretch zone scheme they are running cohesion is as important as talent. If they can stay healthy…big IF, and if they work as a well oiled unit, they will be successful. Both G’s exp. will help in the short run with cohesion. Ultimately, you are correct to get a ring they need an upgrade in G’s and maybe even C.

  • Lemmus

    …define excitement

…is it watching Tannehill running for his life …or Ajayi getting stuffed 2 yds behind the line of scrimmage …that is, after all, exciting, eh …the kind of excitement past coaches brought us after the honeymoon was over

    …think I’ll wait until Gase posts a winning record before I get excited this time …Ross hand-picked Philbin …then he hand-picked Tannenbaum …now he’s hand-picked Gase …just sayin’, eh

…maybe 3rd times the charm …could be …but then I could win the lottery this week …could be

    • admin

Lemmus, I am playing watch and see…and trying to keep my fandom on a simmer. I’m not saying they are world beaters or ever will be…BUT, so far the philosophy is sound – provided they draft like stars, and Gase seems like a personable coach…we’ll see is cool under fire and acumen on gameday and in half time adjustments. I feel more comfortable at this point with the coach at this stage than any other since Saban and Jimmy – and you know how that panned out! So in the end, my hatred (in a football sense) of Philbin started from day 1, and at least I am liking the coach and having some belief – I never had a drop in Queasy.
