Will Dion Jordan Prove Himself In Three Weeks

Dion Jordan is at the crossroads of his Miami Dolphins career.

Dion Jordan is at the crossroads of his Miami Dolphins career.

Dion Jordan could be a bust, a boom, or blahdity blah, blah, blah.

Three weeks is what Dion Jordan has to prove his worth to the Miami Dolphins. The clock on those 21 day started Wednesday and his return comes at a ‘perfect’ time with the 2 game suspension of Defensive End Jason Jones.

But, what will his return amount to?

Will it be a redemption song or the sound of a flushing toilet for the former 3rd overall pick. A big fat question mark is the consistent response from beat reporters to coaches. One thing that is for sure is, all eyes are watching.

According to Joe Shad, ‘Dion Jordan will practice, but the team just wants to see where he is at. Hopefully he can help us this year, but if not, then maybe next year. Jordan is a natural outside pass rusher.’

Defensive Coordinator, Vance Joseph confirmed Shad’s report when he said ‘the team views Dion Jordan as a DE with maybe a mix of OLB, but he he really wants to see DE Dion Jordan practice to see where he is physically’.

Essentially, the starting point is health.

Not that long ago Jordan was a stellar talent — but, is it too late?

I love the idea of him getting out there at SLB in spots. Man, if he could rise to the occasion — whooaa Nelly! It was where he made his name in college as a 3-4 OLB.

Since the Dolphins are only on the hook for under 700k this year and the next, and given Jones’ absence, they have zero to lose.

Jones has had a descending season with Miami according to the best pay per head site, and this is his bottom. I’d love, as all fans would, to see Jordan pan out, and panning out doesn’t mean he needs to be a superstar. If he can contribute with an equal or greater value of Jones, which isn’t that high, then it would be a win.

And if he isn’t, then it’s a push.

But, given this season has been a roller-coaster ride, maybe he can be more — then of course, he could be handed his walking papers in a few weeks as well.

The encouraging thing is that Adam Gase and Vance Joseph have done an very good job in fixing reclamation projects, and this could be a late season Urika that offers them a much needed dimension.

I’m betting on this kid to pull it off — in some shape or form. Unless it’s health related, I expect him to stick.

Kiko Alosno is a good friend. The staff has proven to know how to handle players from a personal and professional standpoint, and last this kid has talent — just a few years ago it was elite. He has a great environment this time — especially with Ireland and Philbin gone.

Potential has never been his issue with Jordan. The way he was utilized and his immaturity have been the stumbling blocks. With half the equation right now due to good coaching, I expect him to pull his end and make his pick something other than a complete bust. Yeah, it might be dreaming. But hey, dreams sometimes do come true! Go Fins!!!

Hey Lemmus, you have great support for your support of Jordan: Cameron Wake. Wake said that it wasn’t till he was 27 that he got going in the league and he believes in jordan. Could be nice words or the truth. Time will tell …but, it’s nice that Jordan has everything he could need to get his career going. I think they win, but am sort of concerned due to all the O line injuries…

….for the 1st time in a long, long, long time, I actually expect the fins to win tomorrow …not think its possible …expect it

….and count me in on Jordan doing a bit more than just getting on the field …no idea what it will be but with his talent and Gase’s coaching …I expect we’ll all know he played

…just crystal ball gazin’ for the fun of it , eh …worth what it cost ya 🙂

The way this season is going, with so much Fins trending in the right direction, heck; why not, another piece to jump on and keep the Momentum train a rollin.

The key word being, “environment”. He now has the staff and mentors that he needs to succeed. Yes, this staff will hold him accountable while giving Deon an idea situation to succeed. With the complexity of Josephs defense, he may well just be relied on to spell Wake and Branch and rush the passer and/or set the edge. Pretty basic.

Deon sure would be a nice surprise should he produce this year while adding to the young team in the future, especially at the DE position where we are the oldest.

If we can survive the 49ers and get players back for the Baltimore game that would be idea. To me, if we beat the 49ers the Baltimore game will be the game that dictates whether or not we go to the playoffs. Thats right, I’m saying/predicting, if we go to Baltimore 7-4 and beat Baltimore we go to the playoffs. The Baltimore game is the pivotal game (assuming we are 7-4 going in).

A lose to the 49ers is like taking 2 steps forward and 5 steps back, because any hope outside of the regular season will be gone just like that. Though I would still see the future bright and the season positive, would be disappointing.

yeah, this is a crucial game (as if any aren’t at this point). They need to win it because the last 5 games are a tough stretch and 10-6 might not make it. 8-4 ( with a win against the Ravens) would be a big push towards playoffs. Not a sure thing, but I would really like their chances. Away at Jets and Bills will be tough for sure…having a player like Jordan who could possible fill several roles would be awesome. Still not sure if he’ll be playing at all this season…but, why not dream.
