Use the Weapons

The Dolphins scored 33 points last week against the Patriots and they achieved that without at least 3 touchdowns that also could have been, but were not converted. The other amazing part was that they scored 33 points, with barely any help from Brian Hartline, Charles Clay or Brandon Gibson. These players were rarely targeted by Tannehill, and only combined for a total of 5 catches.

The scary part is that the Dolphins offense finally has multiple weapons, and they can still win a game with out getting significant contributions from some of their key offensive weapons. I would not be surprised if Lazor changes things up against the Bills, and uses more plays that focus on feeding Hartline, Gibson and Clay. Mike Wallace was the most productive receiver last week, but that was also because he was targeted 11 times, which was almost double that of any other receiver or tight end. I know we want to get our speedster the ball, however out of all the receivers on the team he probably has the worst hands. If the Phins want to have a more dangerous passing attack then Tannehill needs to spread the ball out to his other receivers.

On the flip side, the passing game does not have to be as potent if the running game can gash the opposing defense for 191 yards on the ground. However, sports betting software like Ace Per Head fans would say this is not something that the Phins should count on every week. The Bills have a lot better rush defense than the Pats, and the running game will probably not have as much success this weekend.

Tannehill did not play that great against the Pats, but he did not have to because the running game, and the defense played fantastic. The Bills are going to be riding a emotional high entering their home opener, which should probably help the Bills get off to a strong start. Hopefully the Dolphins can weather the storm in the beginning of the game. This is going to be a real smash mouth close game, which will probably come down to which Quarterback can drive his team down the field at the end of the game for the winning score. Tannehill needs to be more efficient against a Bills team that he has historically had issues with, going 1-3 against, and never throwing for over 200 yards in a game. Tannehill needs to be more accurate, and get all his receiving weapons involved early, and often in this game.

It was mentioned last week that the quiet-spoken EJ Manuel gave an emotionally pumped up speech to his team before the Bears game, which a lot of players said really got them going for the game. Tannehill should take a page from Manuel’s book, and give his own motivational speech before the Dolphins enter a rowdy Buffalo atmosphere, which will feature pregame speeches from Jim Kelly and their new owner Terry Pegula.

Just want to say I am a bills fan and I was looking at this article you wrote here on the game. This was a very well written piece that was not biased at all and pointed out good and bad. There are too many badly written very partial stories out that that slam only one team, this is not one of those. Anyway if I may, as a Bills fan, while I do see this as being a battle of QB’s in the moment, I see the D-lines up front as being probably the biggest factor. Both the fins and bills have very good lines that will penetrate and get to the QB’s. It will end up being who gets more and how each QB’s react when they get a linemen in their face… Good luck to both teams. It will definitely be a great game. Sorry but I have to do this…. GO BILLS !

Last week’s win against the Pats was more about them being overrated than us being a good football team. This week, we have to realize that our lack of depth at LB and Stark’s turf toe will effect they way Buffalo creates their game plan. Davis got the monkey off of his back, as did our secondary as a whole. The Bills will try to run the ball and pass only when they have to. Their defense will sack the QB and stuff the run. Therefore, special teams will be huge. Our punter, will keep us out of trouble by keeping the Bills deep. They will try the same tactic, no doubt. Our punt returns must be consistently productive. They winning points may very well come from our ailing place kicker, Sturgis. I am not sold on this guy yet. The Bills have our old place kicker. He was a pretty good one.
Go Dolphins 24-21 over the age old ugly Bills!

“Our lack of depth at linebacker?” Did you not watch last weeks game? I sure did, and what I saw was our backup linebackers in the second half, played a better game than our starters have in 2 years. We didn’t allow them to score a single point while the backups were in, yet our starters let the Patriots hang 20 on us in the first half alone. No, I’d say that we have very good depth at linebacker for a change around here, and I’m looking forward to several of those guys getting the start against Buffalo.
