Strange Rumor

We are heading into the exciting part of free-agency and the draft part, and with this comes many rumors and reportings.

Some of these rumors have no weight what so ever, but others do have some truth to them. The latest rumor is that Phins’ receiver Rishard Matthews is requesting to be released or traded.

What really does not make sense about this is that the Dolphins just parted ways with two receivers, Hartline and Gibson, and most of the best pay per head reviews are wagering that the Dolphins will also part ways with Mike Wallace through a trade or by releasing him. Why would a player who is deeper on the depth chart want to leave the team after 2 players ahead of him on the depth chart have now been released? One would think that after these organizational player moves, that Matthews would now have a better chance of getting more playing time.

One possible thing that could make this rumor have some truth to it, is that it is widely known that Philbin and Matthews have had some issues with each other in the past. Clearly that would mean that Matthews still has some animosity towards Philbin. It is a shame that these two men can not get along, because when Matthews replaced Gibson in 2013 he did a very good job. Even last year with his extremely limited opportunities he produced 2 touchdowns and made plays.

The organization has responded saying that they have no plans to trade or release Matthews, which I believe is the smart decision. Matthews is still young and still has one year remaining on his 4-year rookie contract, which includes a base salary of only $660,000 for 2015.

Philbin needs to have a sit down with Matthews so they can clear the air and settle their differences because Matthews has the talent and can help the team. Especially now after the Dolphins just got rid of two of the receivers, there is an obvious need for players to step up in that group because there is no guarantee that Miami will sign a wide receiver in free agency and there is no guarantee that even if they draft a wide receiver that he will be successful in the NFL. Matthews has been in the league for three years, and when he has had opportunities he has proved he can be productive. Matthews could at least provide some sort of stability and depth to a wide receiving group that is now entering next season with many questions and holes.

What does the rest of Phins news fans think the Dolphins should do about Matthews, and his rumored expression to leave the team?

If you’ve been a bookie for a while you probably know that most bookies use a pay per head service. That’s because, in order to grow their business and manage it, bookies need to use technology.

That usually means getting a betting software, and the expensive hardware to run the software and a team of technology experts to maintain it. Instead of doing all of that themselves, and dealing with the inevitable trial and error that comes with it, most bookies opt for a pay per head service.

Pay per head as AcePerHead.com companies are great for bookies because they offer a turnkey solution to your needs so you can have an online presence immediately, offer your clients 24/7 access to betting on sports, and many other additional advantages.

But like any other service, there are different levels and quality of service they offer. A lot of the depends on the pay per head software they use. Don’t worry, we’re here to help you find the best price per head service for you.

Ross shoulda fired Philbin…he just sucks as a HC. Its going to happen after this season anyways, why waste another year and all that stadium revenue?

If Matthews and his agent can see the opportunity that he has this coming season then they will never see it. The forth year of a rookie contract is their most important year. He can set himself up to receive a real good contract from Miami or another team.
Matthews needs to be a professional (at least for one season) and set himself up for his future, not just in football, but for after football as well.
If Matthews does not want to do so, Miami should keep him on the roster as well the same depth chart spot (4/5) for the 2015 season.
WAKE up Matthews, the light is right in front of you . No team/gm/coach is going to reward a player than can not get along with his coaches, regardless.

Yes i agree Matthews should be smart enough to see that he now has a legitimate opportunity to earn a lot of playing time and in a contract year, which could help him to cash in on a decent contract the following year

Matthews has an excellent opportunity to have a very productive season and can set himself up very nicely to get a good contract from Miami or another team next season. If he or his agent can not see that, and Matthews wants to be selfish (ala: Wallace), then Miami should keep him and his roster spot on the depth chart (4/5) for the 2015 season.
Wake up Matthews, the light is right in front of you, be a professional and rep the rewards. No team/GM/coach will go above and beyond for a player that can not get along with his coaches, regardless!!!

I’ve said it before I’ll say it again Philbin is a great administrator but a lousy coach. He talks a great game but cannot inspire anyone. Our players need a fire lit under them before each game. Philbin is not the man to do that.
