Start Strong Phins

The Dolphins are 2-2 heading into their 5th game of the season against the Green Bay Packers. That record, when you compare the wins and losses they have had so far can be summed up in one word; inconsistent. However, there is one thing the Dolphins have been consistent in, in each of their 4 games, and that is starting off the game slow and sluggish. Can Philbin and the Dolphins after having 2 weeks to prepare for an opponent finally start the game off strong? I would love to see the offense take their first drive of the game down the field and score a touchdown, and the defense make a nice three and out stop on Rodgers, but that may be too much to ask for.

My heart hopes they can finally start the game off strong and play well for a full 60 minutes, because any sports gambling fan knows that Green Bay does not need any extra help in winning a football game. However, my brain feels that with the extra week of rest they might come out sluggish in the first quarter. Philbin and the coaches need to be doing whatever it takes to have their players ready and focused from the first snap of the ball game. When the Dolphins have the ball they need to give the Packers defense a heavy dose of their run game. The first offense play of the game should be a run play, and depending on how many yards they get, the next play should be a run play as well.

On Defense the Dolphins need to start of the game, by getting pressure on Rodgers. They can not, and must not let Rodgers sit in the pocket and let him have time to pick apart the secondary. The two best ways for Coyle and the defense to put pressure on Rodgers is by blitzing him and by stopping Eddie Lacy and the running game, so Rodgers and the Packer’s offense becomes one-dimensional. The Dolphins can not wait until the second half to wake up and do this, they need to do this from the first snap of the game and onwards.

It is a good thing that the Dolphins have been able to play better in the second half of their games, because this shows that the players and coaches are able to make the intelligent and necessary adjustments to perform better in the game. However, the players and coaches must also focus on getting the initial game plan to be successful in the beginning stages of the game. Against good teams like the Packers it is going to be hard to dig themselves out of an early hole. Instead they need to come out swinging from the first snap, which will give themselves the best chance to win the game. It will be very interesting to see if the Dolphins can finally start a game by playing good solid football?

I don.t know how many of you watched the game Thursday between the colts and Texans. This was the poster for what this article is about. The Colts jumped, the Texans slept. But the Texans came back and you can actually see them get wound up in the game and almost made the difference. Through the whole game I could see the Dolphins not doing this. We can never come back we don’t seem to have the resolve for this. Tannehill never gets off to a great start and wans toward the end, The problem with this team as I see it is Tannehill, he cannot make the passes he needs to make. The short flair our patterns are usually to high and most of his passes are just not accurate enough to help the receiver continue down the field. This is the reason we don’t have a good yac average. I believe he has to learn how to lead a receiver properly. He can’t connect on the long pass either. it derives from the same problem. I think he is so concerned with interceptions that he doesn’t want to throw the ball out of the zone of the receiver- he’s afraid, I think it’s just that simple. Unfortunately I don’t have much hope they will beat the Packers.
