Right Tackle Key To Get Over .500

James has had rough patches and Joey Bosa could make for a long day for the Right Tackle.

James has had rough patches and Joey Bosa could make for a long day for the Right Tackle.

Bosa likes to attack the Right Tackle from every angle.

Right Tackle will play a key role in the Miami Dolphins finally getting their record over .500. Don’t deceive yourself, it likely that this is not going to be easy.  The San Diego Chargers have a high octane offense led by Rivers and Gordon, a decent Defense, and it will be a home game for them.

But, that decent defense has rookie Joey Bosa, and he has played at a very high level. Bosa can play stand-up or hand in the dirt, and he loves to attack the Right Tackle.

That’s where Ja’Waun James plays, and so far this season, he has had some rocky patches.

The best pay per head websites in the world opened the line as the Chargers as the -3.5 point favorite. The line moved up to -4 in favor of the Chargers by midweek, and has stayed steady there as of Saturday afternoon. The action is coming in very lopsided at an almost 6 to 1 ratio on the Chargers. The public clearly does not think the Dolphins are for real, and hopefully this works to our favor, since when the public is so heavily on one side, than the opposite team often covers or wins.

Yes, we all know that the Dolphins are going to have to just stick with their recent game plan of running the ball. and even though the Chargers have the 5th best rushing defense in the league, currently allowing only 85.3 yards per game, they must remain committed.

James will have an easier time against Bosa in the run game, as Bosa has had a hard time freeing himself up from blocks. The Larger James should have a good day in this regard and there’s little concern in him moving Bosa around.

Right Tackle has become the preferred Tackle to attack in recent years.

But, unless they plan to always be on schedule or run 100%, James will have to face Bosa in a pass rush situation at some point.

Bosa has a strong dip move with a nice first step, good bend, and ability to gain leverage. This has been James’ specific Kryptonite that has put Tannehill in serious trouble. James has also had problems with switches, and Bosa’s movement along the line due to his ability to fill a couple roles will add complexity to job of Right Tackle. And this confusion has given defends free shots at Tannehill and that has caused turn-overs.

If Miami wants a “W” today, turn-overs on offense will likely kill the chances of that.

But, if Miami can have success running the ball it will have double the benefits. It will not only help Miami score points and control the clock, it will keep Philip Rivers off the field and keep James in a beneficial setting. Limiting the number of times James has in one-on-one situations with Bosa will help him tremendously and that will help keep the winning streak rolling.

In James defense, he has played better in the areas that he has shown weakness in the early part of the season. Maybe James has ironed out his issues and will prove to be a good match-up against Bosa — but, I’d hate to gamble the season on that. Go Fins!!!

…ok, they’re real …TH had a pretty good game despite the run being mostly contained …penalties were back but mostly holding and I’m not going to get upset about that …no screwups on ST but no positives either …the pass defense has holes but we knew that …the run defense had a good day

…so we’re 5-4 and on the road again …not going to get excited just yet, too many burn marks …but I’m thinking …I am thinking …I’m not sure but I can’t recall a 4 game win streak in the past 5 years …I’m sure one of our stat fans will know, but it sure does feel good ….love to see 5, then 6, eh

…its possible …maybe not likely, but possible

      AFC Playoff Standings
      E NE 7-2
      W KC 7-2
      W OK 7-2
      W DE 7-3
      S TX 6-3
      N BA 5-4
      E MI 5-4
…so we need to win out plus a couple in the AFC West to fall on their swords
…and with 4 road games left, it ain’t gonna be easy

…now if you want to fantasize, think about the fins winning out and the pats dropping one other game 🙂
…not gonna happen …but then there have been bigger surprises this year, eh

…no matter, its beginning to look like we might have found our HC at long last …and that’s a good thing

Once again did not see the game but caught some of the highlights tonight. This Miami Dolphins team is special and I believed is still under the radar? What I saw was a team and not individual players.

    Great Game Dolphins!

They are bringing it every play.
Defense has a kinda “Suh” feel/identity (people like it)
    Was that 4….. 4 picks?
    Oh wait,,,,,,, “Holding Defense”
Tough one to lose, deserving win.
    Carry over=W in Los Angeles
.Tanny played a tough one (Solid one) .
Home field advantage…… As I look at Miami sideline in the third, sun beating down on half of Miami and half of Chargers, we’ve been there. done that, home field helps again..
    Excuse me………”Holding Defense”
    J=Train appearance
    Laundry alive.
There is Stills again,,,,, again 6yds open=Touchdown
    Tanny takes one for that.
    Damien who?
Grant needs to remember what got him here, should be fine.
Was that holding again on the defense, smack?

Todays game is very important for many reasons. First off, we as fans need to see if this team has turned another corner. We have crossed the threshold of being a physical team. We have also shown the fans that with every game, there is realistic HOPE for a win. Secondly, can this team win on the road. Third thing to consider, has this team figured out how to STOP the run and lastly, has the QB figured out how to get TDs in the red zone.
Today, many of those answers will be forthcoming. I will say this, if we return from the west coast with a 1-1 record, I will be partly convinced that this team has a legit shot at…….and I dare use the word…..playoffs.

Wow! What a finish. I am currently speechless. In spite of all the penalties, our Dolphins still found a way to WIN!
