Parker Sits With Undisclosed Injury

DeVante Parker is having some early injury hiccups to his season.

Parker is an all-world talent, but that talent can’t help Miami on the sidelines.

DeVante Parker is expected to be a major piece for the Miami Dolphins turn-around in the 2016, but an undisclosed injury has had him withheld from practice for the second day.

Is this development the end of the world? No. Is this something to be utterly dismissed? No.

Going back to his final college year, this is the third straight season that Parker has had bumps in the road due physical restrictions. Last season, his preseason issues led him to get screws in his foot.

For Parker an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

According to coach Gase, “It’s just part of the offseason where, when you’re running as much as we are and something small comes up, we’re probably being a little overprotective,” Gase said on Monday. “But that’s typical of this time of year, where you get one or two skill guys, you just want to make sure that they’re healthy enough so in the summer, you’re not setting them back.”

He continued, “We need him to feel good (not only) once we get into this minicamp but to feel good going into the summer so he can train because that’s a lot of time between that minicamp and training camp,” Gase said. “I think we’re looking at five weeks there. So as long as he can train this summer, that’s really the most important thing for us.”

Dolphins had Parker running on padded mats on the sidelines with a couple other Dolphins players. It doesn’t take an all world sports gambler to bet they were providing a soft landing for a sore foot.

It’s likely that Parker may need preventative handling on his injury for either a couple of seasons till he is fully healed, or possibly for the entirety of his career. The good part is that his “problem” seems to stem from repetitive motion and is “manageable”. It’s also good to see that the staff is being proactive in it’s handling of his problem and show wisdom on the part of the regime. At this point, this issue should be on the radar, but for now it’s only a blip. Go Fins!!!

I truly hope that this is for precautionary reasons. But, after last season and the frustrating start for Parker, I hope that this is not going to become a regularity. This team needs Parker on the field. The one position group that Miami probably could afford a player loss would be the WR group. However; you want a player like Parker on the field, it puts a lot of pressure on the defense. I believe that Parker is going to be a difference maker, but you can make a difference if your not on the field. Keeping my fingers crossed.

There is def. a concern that he could end up Y**** Green. It could also be that he needs to baby it for a season or two or more, but still will produce. Someone said it was bone spurs…but there wasn’t an evidence of that. If he miss time when it counts in camp, then it could end up bad news. But, several players were running on the mats – not just him. We’ll see. He is an important quantity…hope he pans out.
