Now That Miami Has Squeaked Out A Victory…

The Miami Dolphins finally beat the Baltimore Ravens – not much revenge for 2008, but what the heck. As a qualifier, they beat them when the Ravens were without Joe Flacco, and in a game that was practically meaningless. But, the Dolphins passing game was once again as exciting as watching paint dry on a cold day. However, the defense displayed resolve and clutch by picking up the slack and even added a touchdown themselves.

Finally, Lamar Miller was given 20 carries, and he rewarded the team with 113 yards for a 5.65 yards per carrying average. Once again, when Lamar Miller gets more than 13 carries the Dolphins win the game (5-0 in such circumstances.) It will be very interesting to see what Miami decides to do with Miller in regards to his contract. Most of the best bookie software in the world is wagering 50/50 if Miami resigns him. Serviceable running backs are a dime a dozen. But, in Miller’s case, he has extremely low miles on him in regards to carries, he is a 3 down back born and raised in Miami, and when given space he can reel off yards. My vote would be to re-sign him, but only if it does not break the bank as he has a history of getting nicked and having to be talked into running hard in the hole.

Tannehill had another statistically uninspiring performance, and the chatter is getting loud to bench him. Frankly, I do not see the point in benching him this season because our back up is Matt Moore, a 9-year vet who’s not the QB of the future. The safe bet is Miami is going to have a new head coach next year from outside of the organization, it will be up to that individual how they address the QB position. Whenever a new coach comes in they always want their own players, so it will be very interesting to see what happens in terms of Tannehill. My guess is that a new coach would probably keep Tannehill around, draft or trade for a QB of his choice, and then make them both compete for the job.

One positive thing from this previous game was that DeVante Parker received a chance to start and play more, in Rishard Matthews‘s absence. As a result, Parker was the team’s leading receiver in the game with 3 catches for 63 yards, and a beautiful touchdown grab. I will be keeping a close eye on him during the last 4 games of the season, especially with Matthews expected to miss another game against the Giants. I would love to resign Matthews, and then get rid of Jennings. Miami would have four solid wide receivers with Landry, Matthews, Parker, and Stills. However, Miami has an extremely tight budget for next season, so it may be hard to keep everyone. If Parker gets into a roll during the final four games of the season, I fear that that could be the end of Matthew’s days in Miami, which is a shame because Matthews is a gamer who gets Yac.

What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins News fans looking for in the Dolphins final four games of the season?

So does this mean the inmates arent voting for Camp as next HC? I saw the most stupidest article written by Ho-Mar of the Sun listing possible candidates, almost all are coordinators or college coaches!! WTF??!! what a moron that guy is. Like thats what will fix this team.

Tannehill is a major problem. Read again. The QB position is the go/no-go for success of any team, period, end of story. See SB and playoff teams. See starting QBs injured and their teams. Too much evidence to list.

Tanny is a BUST….not in terms of generalized play, but in terms of a franchise making difference maker take the team on his shoulders type QB, he is a pure BUST.

Next HC needs to admit this failure and draft a QB, otherwise this team will wallow in mediocrity for the next 5 years, again.

This offense is 2 guards, a QB, retaining Matthews and Miller away from being a top 10 offense for many years to come. And even not retaining either Miller/Matthews this offense will not miss a beat (unless Tanny is under center again). The draft should be about building the defense around Suh and Jones. So outside of drafting a QB (1st round or not at all) and a guard the rest should be about finding LBers and corners.

This roster is not that far away, and at least one quality guard can be had via free agency: Alex Boone, Manny Ramirez, Ryan Wendell, Ramon Foster, Todd Herremans, Amini Silatolu, J.R. Sweezy, Richie Incognito, Stefen Wisniewski, Kelechi Osemele, and the best O-Lineman in the league Marshal Yanda are all set to become free agents in 2016. We only need to sign one and draft one, thats it.

    Lenny’s
I agree Tannehill will have one more year at least and hopefully next year he will have a decent OL if not a top 5 OL
Unfortunately unless we draft a Guard in the first and the second round we will not have a top notch OL but as a minimum we do need to get 2 new Guards
You don’t have to be a brain surgeon to see that Tannebaum is blind to our team needs and with his Ego he will hinder our ability to get good players instead of helping
Ross has to admit that his yes men are certainly politically correct but as far as running the Dolphins he is failing miserably all of his personnel selections stink
For a smart businessman Ross sure has bad – no let me rephrase that – horrible judgement of what the team really needs
Thank god he was forced to hire Hickey because he was unable to get anyone else
Hickey is the only common sense personnel evaluator we have
I hope we find a way to keep Mathews he is better than Stills
I agree Jennings is gone at the end of the year
I hope we find a way to keep Olivier Vernon
Wake will have to take a pay cut to stay with the Dolphins hope that happens but probably a slim chance of keeping him
We need a Middle linebacker in the first round
Any possibility we trade a couple of later picks and a player to obtain an additional first round pick ??
If Miller goes it should not be too difficult to replace him in the third or fourth round
I hope we pick up 3 additional compensatory third round picks due to our free agents that left last year that would really help our rebuilding efforts

People, you do not need the top O-Line in the league to have a good QB, take a look at the Cowboys, the best O-Line in the league and outside Romo the QB play is terrible (sounds familiar). How about the Pats, one of the worst rated O-Lines in football, yet Brady is top 3 again this year. Tanny doesn’t have “it”, he’s had 5 years now. He will have a career as a back up!

…I think they go 3-1, Tannehill gets out of the pocket, and Campbell stays …we simply don’t have the cap room the next 2 years to allow a first tier prospective coach to build his own team …and a really good coach is going to stay away from this front office anyway.

…the chatter about benching Tannehill is just background noise …he’s our QB for at least the next 2 years …and I’m still on the bench about him since he’s never had even close to a decent OL …he is once more the most sacked QB in the NFL and I don’t believe much of that stat is on him.

…the crap about stinking up the last 4 games to get one of the top 3 QBs in the draft is just that …setting aside the despicable idea of deliberately losing games, the simple fact is that the record of top 3 QBs in the draft is lousy , Tannehill was a top 3, eh …or anyone want another Ryan Leaf? …I say we draft a QB in the 6th round every year until we find our Brady 🙂

…I think Matthews is gone …he made a strong case this year and we simply won’t be able to afford him …he knows this is his money year and Miami sat him for the past 3.

…Wake will be a cap casualty as well …great player but time and injuries make him high risk at the price.

…Ross gave the keys to Tannenbaum …both need to go imnsho …until that happens I think we stay an 8-8 team …but that isn’t going to happen, is it? …billionaires seldom ditch their ego boosters …que sera, sera

Lemmus, You talk about cap room, well you just cleared up 9 million/year w 2 two players. Cap room will not be why or why not a coach comes here. You think Tannehill was a top 3 QB of his draft, hardly, he may have been drafted in that slot, simply not the case though and Tannehill is not as good as any of the top 3 QBs in next years draft (Lynch, Goff, Cook). At least 8-10 sacks/year are on Tannehill, he had plenty of time vs the Ravens and still left several points on the field. He just doesn’t have “it” as a playoff QB (Tannehill is a Ryan Leaf).

Lemmus, I would not give away a 6th round draft pick for the next Brady, you do realize that it has only happened one time in the history of this league, must be in the top 5 picks or not at all. And this team/this group of players are to proud for the “Suck for Luck” theory. Unlike the Colts, our owner will not sabotage this team for that to happen. At least not purposely, it has been his inability to assemble a professional staff that has this team where it is.

Matthews may be gone, all though it wasn’t this staff that sat him for whatever reason. So I don’t believe that will be the deciding factor. In fact, the current staff does nothing but compliment this guy on a weekly basis. As well they should!
