Arian Foster is coming in for a second workout and Miami could use another back.
Arian Foster could fill both depth and talent needs to Miami’s backfield.
The Miami Dolphins announced that they’ll be hosting Arian Foster for another visit today.
This is his second visit. The first one was back in March in order to see where he was at medically – Miami was the only one who came knocking.
The Dolphins will use Monday’s meeting as a follow up to how his rehab is going and whether or not he will be ready for training camp. However, if Miami is serious about Foster, they should act fast, because they are not the only team that is interested this time around. The Detroit Lions are scheduled to meet with him on Friday.
Foster has expressed a desire to start. Depending on how healthy he is, and if Miami wants the young Ajayi to grow up fast and start out of the gate, will determine how strong of a push Miami makes for him. Even though Foster has a checkered injury history, he also has shown the ability to come back strong from prior injuries, so Miami should not be scared away from his injury history. Also any football gambling fans will tell you that, Miami desperately needs capable bodies in the back field and at the moment, Daniel Thomas has the most NFL experience of any running back on our roster. This isn’t comforting sign at all. If Foster is healthy enough to be ready for training camp, then I lean heavily towards the signing.

For starters, Miami has plenty of available cap space, and considering that Foster is older and coming off a serious injury, his asking price is going to be reasonable enough to afford. In addition, if Miami allows Foster to compete for the starting running back position, it will only make the other running backs work harder. Nothing is better than a good old fashioned competition in training camp, and at the moment there is really nobody in this running back group that is going to give Ajayi much competition. If Foster is signed, then let the best man win, and no matter who wins the starting position, Coach Adam Gase loves running the ball, so get him another back to pound the rock.
If Foster will split the load with Ajayi, he might actually excel and stay healthier if he is not being asked to carry the ball 20 plus times a game. This signing could pay huge dividends in the long run – even if they only get one good year from Foster. Ohh man Lemmus, hell yo the yeah on Daniel Thomas…what a bad draft pick. He needs to get sent to the Turk even before camp starts…I hope they pick him if for nothing else but to see Daniel get shown the door. Now Dallas still might be a guy who can contribute if he has a major (and I mean major) epiphany. I still think Dallas could be decent back up at RT if his strength improves.
