This is Miami’s schedule of rouges gallery for 2017… what to make of it.

Miami must win at least 9 in this schedule to keep the mojo alive

The NFL announced the 2017 Schedule for each team yesterday, and even though the teams already knew the exact teams that they were going to play in the upcoming season, they did not know the times and dates. And while times and dates aren’t an end all be all, they are a factor.

When looking at the Miami Dolphins 2017 Schedule there are a few things that pop out.

First of all, the Dolphins start the season out at home, which is a first since 2014.

This is a plus for Miami, because Miami’s home field advantage is enhanced in the first month of the season compared to the any other time in the season, because that is when the Miami heat is at it hottest and offers an extra advantage over teams in the 4th quarter.

This schedule has some odd features

However, the one caveat about this week one home opener is that they are hosting the Tampa Bay Bucs, which is the only other team in the league that is as equipped as Miami to play in the South Florida heat, so our heat advantage is not going to come into effect that game… figures.

The next thing that stood out was the fact that Miami travels to London the fourth week of the season to take on the New Orleans Saints, which will end up being one of Miami’s home games.

So this is a bit of a disadvantage because Miami will only have seven home games in South Florida, whereas almost every other team in the league will have 8 home games.

The NFL always gives a bye week to teams after they play in London. However, Miami petitioned against this because they did not want to have a bye week that early in the season. The good news is Miami won that petition and were awarded their bye in week 11 instead, which will be much more advantageous because injuries tend to mount as the season wears on.

The other noteworthy thing about the Dolphins schedule is that the Dolphins were awarded four Primetime games.

Miami must take advantage and win early in this schedule

Obviously the best pay per head review site and NFL football fans around the league were impressed by the Dolphins 10-6 turnaround last season and feel that they are an upcoming team that can gain some national attention this season. Miami will actually play three prime-time games in a row this season: weeks 8 through 10. In week 8, they will play in Baltimore on Thursday night, against a team they rarely beat, and then they play in week 9 on Sunday night against the Oakland Raiders at home. Lastly, they play in week 10 on Monday night in Carolina and by the end of the three games Miami will either have an impressed or depressed Fins Nation.

In the next article, we will do a game by game prediction, but for the last word on the schedule today, I would say that the beginning of the season looks much easier compared to the end of the season. What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins News fans thoughts about what they noticed about the Dolphins 2017 schedule?

    – LOVE, LOVE this schedule. FINALLY, FINALLY a late bye week 11,,, YEA!!!
    – Quickly, Miami is better than their first 7 opponents, period!!!
    – If, “if” things are going well after 10 weeks, Miami will get a needed bye at the perfect time. Gase gets 2 weeks to prepare for the Patriots here,,,,nice!!!
    – 4, thats right FOUR prime time games, with 3 in a row, 2 of those games at home, awesome!!!
    – All Miami’s Sunday afternoon home games start @ 1. BIG advantage for the FINS, let the away teams bake in that sun on the visitors sidelines. Finally a home field advantage once again.
    – We can’t beat the Ravens home or away, so what the heck, may as well play them in “Prime time”, that very well could be what we need to beat them.
    – When we play the Pats the first time they will be coming off a game @ Denver, a game home to the Raiders, and a game vs the Fins who have 2 weeks to prepare for them. Gotta like that!!!

Really like how this schedule plays out week to week. A fast start to the season and the J-Train will be off and running. HOOT!!! HOOT!!!

If Miami acquires more depth and avoid any devastating injuries, I like it to. But, those late Bills games will be brutal on a thin squad that has suffered big injuries. This schedule challenges Miami’s endurance and ability to survive the NFL wear and tear. If they fall like flies as they did last year…this will be a brutal schedule. But if they can build good depth and mostly make it out without multiple season ending injuries– Tannehill and Suh being primary–then I look for good things.

  • Yelp! The Fins without a doubt will get the offensive line fixed.

Two Safeties who could possibly contribute as undrafted free agents

    Adrian Colbert
Colbert can play in the slot, cover the tight end, or play the box safety position. The former Longhorn and Hurricane offers a impressive amount of versatility that should allow him to get drafted in the later rounds.

I think depth, not just starters will be crucial. Safteys will have an oppertunity to come in and earn a spot, at the very least on the practice squad. I wonder if last years pick, Lucas, will make it? They must find something in the back end of the draft… especially with 3 5th round picks. I hope they doubt just use them as ammo to trade up, but rather find player to contribute. Even on starter or 2 contributors would go along way with those late picks,

      • Hopefully this is taken as corrective criticism.

There are late round picks and undrafted free agents who can start but it requires the Dolphins Coaches to recognized that talent and understanding who they have and how to get 110% out these players. What I noticed with most NFL coaches if a college players has won the 50 yard dash gold medal the NFL coach will try to make that runner a cross field runner??

Example: We played the Patriots week two 2016 against the Pats back up QB Jimmy Garoppolo the score was Miami 0 Patriots 21 at 4:20 left in the second qtr. Jimmy gets hurt.

Jacoby Brissett (1st NFL game)third string QB comes in and lead team to final score 31 Patriots Dolphins 24 points.

Tom Brady is back: Week 17 in Miami: Pat 35 Miami Dolphins 14

        https://youtu.be/XXEqf7ViiCQ

        Pats finished the season 14-2

The bottom line the Miami Dolphins must:
        1. Strengthen that offensive line
        2. Must have another power running back to compliment Ajayi
        3. Must draft a serious QB who is not a project if Tannehill or Moore goes down.
        4. Must address their secondary
        5. Must get run stopper on that defense

What is killing the Dolphins are these project players, we need players who can step in to win games. Injuries are going to happen and at the middle of the season is pretty sorry if Ajayi goes down! Let’s be real we don’t have another serious R/B. Not only R/B but each position the back up must be able to step in and hold their own.

The Pat’s have strengthen there run/pass/defense to make another supper bowl run. We did good achieving 10 wins this past season. We need another serious offensive line//R/B/secondary dominates who can read and react appropriately to 40 year old Tom Brandy. We must have a feared running attacked and feared defense then passing will be successful but this passing 60 to 90% is a disaster for the Dolphins the last 30 years.

I think you are spot on. Pats have a system and that is built by the coaches. This is the strongest aspect of the roster, as hey find players who suit their system. Miami’s system is still in flux. This year a New DC will alter a bit what was done last season. And even Gase is refining his way. So if they can solidify the system, and find players to play a role in that system, they don’t need to find super talents. But, guy who can come in a contribute quality snaps each game and in short burst is key. The Miami staff has proven it can adapt and has a system nearing a good point, but can Grier bring in guys that can contribute immediately? As you said projects are nice, but not when you have as many as Miami has! Also, with so many new faces you also must re-gell. It’s a good thing that Miami has a very winnable first month as the pieces will have a chance to come together under pressure than if they had a murders row weeks 1-4.

I was once told when you are gambling don’t gamble on the numbers that you like but the numbers that are hitting at that time.

This is true in football the QB we want to have the hot hand every game but its not going to happen right. To truly understand a balanced offense requires discipline. Must understand how to get the best out of each player.

  • Hello Dolphins Fans

Three prime-time games in a row this season: weeks 8 through 10. In week 8, they will play in Baltimore on Thursday night, against a team they rarely beat.

Fraudulent: Some sports caster have called the Dolphins after losing to the Raven last season???

The key to winning these games is not go pass happy! But punishing the defenses is key keep their offense on the bench. This makes a legitimate team.

I never believe in putting the ball in a QB’s hand solely when you have a powerful running backs. The QB goes down that’s the end of the season called one dimensional coaching.

The Dolphins Super Bowl wins came from punishing their opponents by running the ball. The pass is good when it works but as a fan we have gone “THIRTY YEARS” trying to pass to the Supper Bowl and failed plus running threw over 30 QB’s. “That is Fraudulent”?

Having a well balanced passing attack / Plus a monster run game and the smartest playing defense in the league.

Two teams have recently gotten to cute with passing and lost the supper bowl Seattle by not running Lynch and Atlanta decided to pass the last 4 minutes and passed themselves out of field goal ranged.

    Failed Proof scenario:

What if A. Brown was in the backfield with Jay Ajayi? This would guarantee the Dolphins can eat up the clock when need to and score. But must have the best offensive line plus receivers who understand how to block and just run routes.

The game is Football. Their are many who would debate its passing now:

He led the Miami Dolphins to an AFC championship in the 1984 season, only his second season in the NFL. During that year, he threw a then-NFL record 48 touchdown passes. Despite the 14–2 season and Marino’s touchdown record, the Dolphins lost Super Bowl XIX 38–16 to the 15–1 San Francisco 49ers.

What does it hurt to bring Brown to camp as undrafted free agent?

Supposedly Steve, they like the practice squad players that they have. Still haven’t heard if Williams signed his tender, but if he did they will need a fourth, but the three they have is a nice squad. BUT, next year Williams will likely be gone, and again, you need a fourth. Also, you never know if you can find a gem. So yeah, bring in all the talent you can… especially a RB. To give a salute to Lemmus: If they don’t upgrade the OL then it might not matter who is a back there unless Barry comes along.

      • Jimmy or Admin

That’s just it we don’t need practice squad players. I would prefer rehabbing starters on the practice squad. Who we are sure to contribute late in the season when cleared medically even if its a one year performance contract if there is such a thing.

Injured: four college player with proven productivity/will be undrafted free
        agents. The talent is there!
