Let’s get Defensive

football gambling

The Dolphins have won their last two games on the road, and the biggest reason behind this is the Defense. The Defense has caused 6 turnovers, 7 sacks, scored 14 points and have only allowed 13.5 points per game. If the Dolphins want to make a run for a playoff spot this is a good place to start. Offense wins games, but defense wins championships, just look at why the Seattle Seahawks are the reigning Super Bowl Champions.

It is only two solid games, and the opponents have not been top notch teams, however the defense is clearly starting to play better. For whatever reason, the NFL ranks the top defense as the team that allows the least total yards, which has Miami ranked 5th in. But most football gambling fans would agree that the true sign of a top defense is one that is allowing the least points, and creating the most turnovers. In allowed points per game the Dolphins are currently ranked 11th allowing 21.6 points per game, and that is an improved number because of their last two games. In the takeaway department the Dolphins are currently ranked 5th with 14 caused turnovers, and again 6 of those have come in the last 2 games.

I believe that the Defense seems to be finding their groove and if they can continue to ride this momentum, then the Dolphins’ defense has the potential to be one of the top defenses in the league. The biggest thing they need to improve on, which they have been able to do in the last two games, is that they need to continue to keep their opponent off the score board.

The Dolphins defense will get another chance this upcoming weekend to prove they can be elite, because they will be facing a top shelf QB in Philip Rivers, and a Chargers team that is averaging 25.6 points per game. Coyle and the defense know the recipe and currently have the right ingredients, which is a disruptive pass rush and lots of turnovers, to beat a high scoring offense, but can they continue to cook up a winning result? Do phin fans believe that the Dolphins defense has turned a corner and will can continue to exhibit signs of being an elite defense or is this just a mirage created by playing against mediocre teams?

Okay, let’s jump on the cool aid truck for a minute! The Dolphin Defense is getting better. Yes, we have played a couple of dogs but you can see continuous progress that has achieved a solid ranking as compared to the other NFL teams. Remember, there is lots of parity in the league right now. San Diego is not a top tier team, either. We have short corner-backs with big hearts. We have a DL that will underachieve at times. We have young linebackers who make a few rookie mistakes. The offense can certainly help by scoring and exercising some ball control. I think the offense is improving, as well. In summary, a Dolphin team that plays up to their competition at home can get us the win.

My negative comment is directed at the coaching staff! Time management and looser mentality clouding your judgement. The Green Bay game still sticks in my craw! Listen up Philbin! Take your points! Use the time on the clock to set up a score before the half. Adjust at half time by emphasizing the plays that worked in the first half and selecting that portion of the offense that might be a productive change-up. Abandon the prevent offense and defense in the fourth quarter! Save your second half time outs for the end of the game! DON”T use them to aid the enemy!

This article contradicts itself over and over. It states correctly some recent positive stats for the D. It states correctly the opponents of late are weak. What it does not state is that that is the reason for improved stats. AND that the only reason the Fins D stats show improvement is directly related to weak opponents.

Where are the stats vs teams with winning records?

Talk at me after the Chargers, Lions, Broncos games. We’ll see then.

This article is correct in all it says, the thing it is missing is what we don’t have. What we don’t have is an offense that keeps the ball out of the hands of the other team. If we let Rivers have the ball for any amount of time he will beat you. I don’t care what kind of defense you put up. The best way to beat teams with “elite” QB’s is keep the ball out of their hands. I don’t think Tannehill has the finesse to keep the chains moving. To me that’s just as important as scoring. I guess that’s part of the basics they always talk about. Cudos to GRIMES and Finnegins they still have what it takes and I am thrilled we have them!

I know we are turning the corner on Defense and we will be the Top Defense in the NFL after these next 4 games. We have elite players, Jordan is back and OV and Cam Wake reek Havoc in the backfield!!! With Grimes, Finnegan, Jones, and Delmas in the secondary, Jordan, Jenkins, and Misi in the Middle we Rock!!! We just need to keep the O-Line Stout and keep the Kid Vertical, So he has time to go thru his progressions, and by all means keep running the ball and keep Lamar busting thru the middle!!! Fin Up!!!
