Jones Is Back!!!

Reshad Jones is back.

Reshad Jones is back!

Reshad Jones is back and his hold-out ended!

Well, that was quick! Reshad Jones is back, and all is right in the world of the Dolphins.

No word yet on why he has returned, but this hold-out has a similar feel to his last hold-out.

Was there a promise of a new deal given to Jones and his agent? Did Jones want to make a “soft” statement about his desires for more security in his contract? Did he realize that it was a no-win situation? Did Mike Tannenbaum get tough and threaten to waterboard him?

At this point no details have emerged, so who knows? And it doesn’t a genius at football gambling to bet that when the “details” do emerge that it won’t be the full story.

But, with or without the details of the turn-around, this is tremendous news for the Dolphins and Dolphin Fans on several fronts – tremendous.

Jones is back and so are hope Miami is returning to a competent franchise.

First, with Jones back, Miami has one of it brightest players, a centerpiece of it’s team and defense, ready to make 2016 a season to be proud of.

Reshad Jones being back is crucial regardless of whether you hated or supported his absence. He is the best player in a secondary that is full of young and new players. His presence can’t underestimated, and his return can begin the “gelling” of the secondary.

This also speak volumes to Tannenbaum’s ability to handle a situation…and this was a serious situation. Mike Tannenbaum has added one more reason why there is hope for Miami this time around. Reshad Jones situation could have gotten ugly. The situation could have dragged out. The situation could have gotten ugly AND dragged out. It did neither. It was professional and expedient. This “stand-off” adds credence to Ross’ decision to hire him.

Now does this mean he IS an excellent GM / VP – no. But, it sure as heck doesn’t say he isn’t!

But, it does say, and this is important, that Tannenbaum has ‘gotten’ Jones back!!!!

So in summery, all that can be said is YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! Go Fins!!!

    “notta” ….hhhmmmm …naught?

…either way …he paid an agent to negotiate the best deal he could get …you know the agent read the fine print, then had him sign the contract …don’t feel the least bit sorry for either

…we have no clue what the contract would have been if the agent had insisted on guaranteed money instead of bigger paydays …but just plain old common sense says there was a trade-off

…now he wants to whine about “poh liddle me only gettin 7.5 million a year plus bonuses”

…sorry but he can stick that where he can’t read it without a flashlight, a colonoscope, and a bad case of rectal-cranial inversion, eh

Yeah that contract was all good when the money was given up front, but now it’s not…should have spread the dough over the years. Ohh well, at least Lemmus fans have one less thing to worry about. IT was a complete surprise as none of us in all the early off season conversation considered it a problem…glad it came as quickly as it went.

In Jones’ defense about his contract. Jones has 2 years left on his contract, and NONE of those years are guaranteed, and from what I heard via NFL Radio, that was his beef. Another words, should Jones get hurt, Miami could waive/cut him and Jones is left with notta. I understand that using the word “notta” may sound foolish, after all he would get his 7.3 million dollars for the season. Jones handled like a pro though and I am hoping that pays off for him and Miami does reward him accordingly.

Jones is back and seems to be focused on football and letting the contractual situation play itself out. That is a professional move, and if I were Miami and were thinking about extending his contract before, I would definitely do it now.

** Off subject a bit….. Another good show of faith for this organization/team/FO, Miami signs Drake to his rookie contract AFTER Drake gets hurt and limps off the field yesterday (Wednesday). Also a shout out to Drake and his desire to learn his profession and be w teammates, around his coaches. Joey Bosa is not under contract, and he is skipping the Chargers mini camp. To me, that says a lot about Drake as a player, teammate, character. Again, another good show of faith and how professional organizations are operated. Under Ireland and that staff, we wouldn’t have signed him until he was healthy. Then again under Ireland, we wouldn’t have drafted him because we would have given up that pick to move and get Bosa, LOL!

Some more good news all around for the Fins 🙂 🙂

That’s a real good point Dunner. I think it lends to the direction that Miami…I shudder to think…might be on the right track for real. We all know how hard it is to believe at this point, but the Jones thing really came and went in such a professional manner and Jones response make me believe a bit more in T-Baum. The Drake thing is another morale building move for T-Baum. Still along way off, but I am very excited to see live action for validation.

It is great news. Hopefully Joseph can get the best out of him. If he signs an extension I may even get his jersey. Found a place to get Nike stitched jerseys for under $30 plus shipping. Already got 3. If you order6 or more it’s free shipping. It’s called thefootballmark.com
