Is the Patriot Reign over?

After 2 weeks of the young 2014 NFL season the AFC East has a surprising leader in the division with the 2-0 Buffalo Bills.

The Dolphins exemplified this with their pass rush in the first game, and the Bills and Jets are both equally strong if not stronger on the D-line, so they should be able to make Brady uncomfortable.

The Bills are sitting alone at the top of the division and after beating a decent Bears team on the road, and embarrassing a decent Miami team, the Bills look like they are going to be a tough out each Sunday. They have an excellent Defensive line, and they have a great pair of running backs, and lots of young fast receivers. I am still not sold on EJ Manuel, but with a very good defense and very good running game, Manuel is not going to be relied on so heavily. This Bills team reminds me a lot like the Jets team that was led by QB Sanchez when they appeared in two straight AFC Championship games.

The Jets are 1-1 and they had the chance to be 2-0, but they fell apart in the second half against a very good Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay Packers team. The Jets defense looks very good as usual under the leadership of the defensive Guru Rex Ryan. They also added a few new weapons like Decker and Johnson, which have helped them to already score more points. I do not think the Jets are going to make the playoffs, but they appear improved from last year, and are going to at least give a fight in every game.

To me the Dolphins appear to be the biggest mystery of the group so far, because they looked so good in the second half against the Patriots, but looked so bad in the entire game in Buffalo. The Dolphins have a lot more talent throughout their roster, compared to years past, but they still seem to be searching for an identity. I think a big part has to lay on the shoulders, and arm of Ryan Tannehill. He had a very encouraging camp, and looked very comfortable in Lazor’s new offense, but since the season began, he has been a bit of a disappointment. His accuracy has looked shaky and he has not taken a game into his own hands, and made a statement yet. I still believe in Tannehill, but will admit that his time is ticking, and if he doesn’t sharpen up his game soon, then he and the Dolphins are poised for a bitter ending to this season.
