Dolphins Must Play With Pride Against Steelers

Can pride fuel the Dolphins players and make this a game?

Can pride fuel the Dolphins players and make this a game?

Pride must fill the hearts of the Dolphins players in order for this to be a game.

The Miami Dolphins will have a chance to play for pride as they host the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend at 1pm in Miami, and these two teams could not be going in more opposite directions. The Dolphins are 1-4 and are a mess on both Offense and Defense, and the Steelers are 4-1, have one of their healthiest teams in years, and are playing like a true Super Bowl Contender.

But, the Dolphins must have pride and will themselves to rise to the occasion.

The best pay per head software sites in the world surprisingly opened this game up at -7 for the Steelers. That line feels very generous considering the Steelers have looked dominant in all of their games except for their lone loss against the Eagles. Even more surprising is that the line has stayed at -7 for much of the week, and is currently still at -7 as of Saturday morning.  What is not surprising is the fact that all of the action is pouring in on the Steelers and nearly at a  10-1 clip. What’s ironic is that usually when a game is wagered so heavily one-sided by the public, then the other side usually covers.

In this case it would be both ironic and miraculous, because if the Dolphins are going to make this a game, they are going to have to play a near perfect game and definitely win the turnover battle.

I would like to see Gase open up the play book this game. So far this offense seems extremely plain and vanilla, and it’s time to get a little creative for more than a single drive per game. Also, since defenses are getting so much pressure on Tannehill, why not use more running back and wide receiver screens, and some draw plays? Everyone and their mother knows that Tannehill plays better when he is asked to roll out of the pocket, so why not call some more plays to get him out of the pocket. Gase needs to utilize Tannehill’s legs and let him run the ball as well, since he has always excelled at this, why not use it? Why should we be afraid of Tannehill getting hurt if he runs the ball, since he is already standing in the pocket like a punching bag now as it is?

Pride can make even inferior teams rise to the occasion.

Miami’s Defense is going to have our hands full. Ben Roethlisberger is an elite QB and is very difficult to wrap up, because he is just as big as our Defensive Lineman. Roethlisberger and his go to receiver Antonio Brown should have a field day in Miami, and frankly there is likely not much Miami can do it about it. We don’t have a CB that is good enough to successfully cover Brown for an entire game — we are lucky if we have one that can cover him for a drive.

Lastly, and probably even more dangerous, is that the Steelers have a terrific one-two punch in the running game with DeAngelo Williams and Le’Veon Bell. They are the perfect complement for each other with one being a physical downhill runner in Williams, and the other being a shifty and speedy runner in Bell. The Defense is going to have to play out of their minds to have any chance to stop these two backs for an entire 60 minutes. Has any of you Miami Dolphins News fans done enough drugs to think Miami has any chance to win this game? I for one will be drinking.

Lost for words. Our posts over the past week must have been printed and use for bulletin board material.

    222 yds rushing
    36 carries……YES, 36 rushing attempts…….Sweet
Time of Possession: 36:30…..Defense must be appreciative
    ZERO, yes zero sacks
    ZERO, yes zero turnovers
    2 defensive Ints.
    50% on third downs
    24 first downs
    474 total yards
All these stats/numbers/success against a team that many have ranked as the top team in the NFL!!!

Now follow that performance up with another against a red hot divisional opponent.

Yeah, I thought after the 2 pt conversion it would be down hill…I was flabbergasted!!! But, in a good way!!!!

It was good to see Stephen Ross happy about his Team.

…come 20 Jan, I sure hope that other NY real estate billionaire does a whole lot better job of running this country than Ross has done of running the fins 🙂

  • Steve

I watched some of the highlights and the Fins are executing much better. Receivers who understand who to block, when to block and how to block properly this is the beauty of a run play to perfecton. and the Out come is winning games. 11 Men on the field carrying their weight doing their job. Keeping the Dogs off the QB.

One game at a Time: Who do I blocked coached! He is stuffer and bigger than me how do I get him blocked?

Correction: They say celebrate for 24 hours then back to work.

…just a WAG (wild assed guess) but I think the Steelers going for 2 on the 1st TD …and making it …and then taunting the fins about it …had just a mite bit to do with what happened next

…like the man said …it was their “pride” that was on the line

…so the fins took them to school …used the Principal’s paddle to whip their butts, they did 🙂

Def. think that was salt to the wound…was very surprised they went and that a penalty wasn’t called in the Steelers for the rub.

I was out today did not see the game I will have to catch on the replay. I asked a lady had she heard the Dolphins score. She looked the results of the game up and said the Dolphins Won over the Steelers 30 to 15 like that. I thought really. I was shocked But I knew that we have a team already.

I’ve been hard on the Fins rightly So! When they do well expect high praised. Great Job to the Dolphins coaches, Players and Management. Great Job To Tannehill no turn overs and Super job for the Offensive line Making it possible for Ajayi to have a record day over 200 yards is really on heard of in the NFL. Great job to our Defense We need Consistency to perfect execution each game. We can beat the Best of them. Consistency.

What preparation the Dolphins made for this game must continue to build on it. They say celebrate for 2400 and back to practice.

…damn …five years I’ve waited to see THIS game!

…and I’m going to savor it for a bit, I am

…I said a couple times over the past week that Mr Inconsistent was due to have a good game …just to be consistent with his record over the last four miserable years

…and I’ve said since before the 1st game that I expected it would take Gase about 5 games to put it together …but then they looked soooooooooooooo bad going 1-4 that I was ready to throw in the towel on the whole year

    …but that was yesterday 🙂

…today …today its gooooooooooooooood to be a fins fan

…tomorrow …after I come down …we can talk about Mr Inconsistent becoming consistent

…we’ve all been here before folks …one good game does not a season make …but damn, except for one blocked FG, every aspect of the fins game was working today …even the damn OL did its job!

….so go ahead, rub my nose in it …these moments have been too rare not to enjoy them while they last …and pray they continue 🙂

Totally agree…I responded in full on your comment in newest article…But, I’d never rub it in your face — as a lot of what you saw is spot on: not all, but alot 🙂
