Dolphins Playoffs Start With New York Jets

There are no guarantees, but winning the last three games give Miami the next best thing.

There are no guarantees for the Playoffs, but winning the last 3 games give Miami the next best thing.

With the Broncos having a brutal last 3 games, Miami has a real shot at the Playoffs.

Okay Fin Fans, we couldn’t ask for much more than this: Miami Dolphins have a real shot at the Playoffs.

No, it’ not a pipe dream — maybe a long shot — but, it’s not  pipe dream. I think even the most suspicious of fans can agree on that.

The Denver Broncos may have the last spot in the playoff seeding, but the Dolphins are next up after that and are hot on their heels.

With Denver having three very tough games, New England, Kansas City, and Oakland, there’s a real chance for them to lose at least 1 of those games.

That means if Miami sweeps, they will hurdle the Broncos and become the sixth seed.

Are you onboard yet? No? Even, the best at pay per head sportsbook are starting to believe the odds.

Now, I know this won’t be an easy task, but after watching Ryan Tannehill‘s knee survive that brutal hit, and Mike Hull looking like Zach Thomas junior, I can believe anything’s possible this season with Miami.

I spent the whole of Monday in flight on a plane, and only found out of ‘kneeraculous’ event in a news flash, and I just couldn’t stop laughing. It, like much, if this 2016 season, has been a remarkable one for sure. And not only is it a minor miracle for a good guy in Tannehill, it is also one more highlight in this incredibly unpredictable season.

Dolphins Playoffs aren’t as long of a long shot as you might think.

And isn’t it about time things go our way — now if only the refs would follow suit.  But, tackling that elephant in the room is an article for another day.

So here we are with Matt Moore as the starting QB for the next two games, at the very least. But with the Jets and Bills being flawed teams, they are both very winnable games. The only caveat is both games are away games for Miami, and that can bring a whole host of problems…and bad weather.

But, Miami’s decision to be a run focused team with Jay Ajayi, this “new” style of offense can mitigate much of the environmental factors. But, let’s hope that it’s not a repeat of the 2002 Ricky Williams game that snowy day up in Buffalo?

Let’s stay focused and positive, right?!

Everything starts this week against the New York Jets. It will be a short week and this will be extra-tough with a new QB. Adam Gase and Moore’s rapport come gameday will be crucial. Gase needs to dial in with a bullseye on what Moore does best, and Moore needs to play controlled football without a hero complex and limit his turnovers to zero….if not less.

With Matt Forte‘s knee injury, Bilal Powell will get the start. He racked up 145 yards against the 49ers, but on 29 carries and 19 yards being his longest. He isn’t a home-run threat — but appears to kill with a thousand cuts. So, Miami’s run D will be front and center — again and again and again.

Then of course there is Tom Petty…err, I mean Bryce Petty. He is raw and an unknown quantity, but he can move and create outside the pocket. Mobile Qb’s have been a problem for Miami, but more in picking up yards over the line of scrimmage than pushing the ball down the field — and that’s not Petty’s game.

Miami is nearly in control of their Playoff hopes — nearly.

So, this will come down to Dolphins turn-overs and ability to stop the run. They make it happen there and limit bone-headed plays, and they will have a great chance at winning.

Then it will be all about Pats v.s Broncos. Yeah, I’m already struggling with who to root for — maybe a tie? Cold hard truth is, this will end up the best season since 2008. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: get on board. Playoffs or not, this is 2016 season is one to be proud of with the silver lining of a bright future. And you never know, you might also have some Dolphins games in January as a cherry on top! So break out your aqua and orange and enjoy. Go Fins!!!

Admin, I agree with every point made. I too would take Moore over Petty. I also like that Moore’s last game was a victory, especially that it was against the Jets. I so want Miami to win this game; A) because it is the Jets; B) It is a divisional game (Hated Jets) C) It would get us oh so close to a playoff berth and set us up for a very exciting finish

2 keys to victory: 1) Stop their run game (a must) 2) Stop Marshall (not so much because he is the difference between a win or a lose, but also just to shut him up,,, again).

Miami’s defense will be the difference Saturday, sacks/pressures will lead to turnovers. Offensive production could force the Jets to become one dimensional and that my friends would be devastating for the Jets!!!

Start strong, because these Jets are looking for a reason to throw in the towel, so give them one!

Get the J-Train rolling, feed the beast. Oh wait, our beast might be Laundry, or Parker, please forget about Stills so that he will be a beast.

Special teams continue to make momentum changing play(s).

This our second time facing these Jets, so for me I am interested to see what/if there is a change in our approach, coaching/game plan will be interesting to me. I would really be surprised if we are out coached the second time around, something I could NEVER comfortably say since the Shula days. That is how high I am with Gase and company.

I did a little film study on Petty and Moore trying to put it together, but it shows Petty is a scared hare and Moore is a gunslinger with an under-gunned arm. Another thing that is being mentioned is Moore’s tendency to fumble…in the conditions the game is expected to have this is a big one. J-Train need to get going. But, Steen is a major problem as he is a step too slow getting to the second level. Gase should be able to scheme some help…I hope.

It seems the playoffs have started and ended w the Jets each year lately. And, unfortunately they have ended without a post season berth. Can we get past the Jets this year, please? Should we find another way to win Saturday, it will set up for a interesting trip to Buffalo. Should we win and a certain team lose each this and next Saturday, we are in without even playing the Pats in week 17. How could that possibly be after the disaster vs Tennessee and falling to 1-4??? I am still kinda in awe of the turn around. Hats off to the coaches/players!!! But it could all disappear if we don’t take care of the hated JETS. Find a way, any way to beat the hated J.E.T.S, jets, jets, jets!!!

The J-Train will have to be rolling, because the weather is calling for 44 degrees with rain. We do catch a break though because a warm front is coming in Saturday (Really), Fridays high in East Rutherford is 28 degrees. Thank You weather Gods, we’ll take it!!!

Defense will need to win or lose this game in my opinion. Would love to see Moore light the Jets up w 4 TDs and 300 yds. Com’on Suh/Wake/Branch/ Maxwell/ Alonzo/Quddus/ Rambo/ Lippett/ Howard/ Mitchell/ Jones all hands on deck, take care of business defense, stifle Petty and make him look like the inexperienced QB that he is.

Hey, Dunner think about this: Moore’s last win was against the Jets!! Maybe the curse will be lifted? I think they have an excellent chance to win…now up in Buffalo next week will be alot harder…for I’ll try and stay focused on this week. This is the easiest of the 3 games and they need to take this one!!! Petty is a one read QB who is nervous in the pocket…I’ll take Moore over him 10 out of 10 times!

    What’s the Plan?

The Miami Dolphins signed veteran quarterback T.J. Yates to serve as the backup to Matt Moore, bypassing rookie Brandon Doughty for the second-team role.
Yates, who tweeted #FinsUp, tore his ACL (anterior cruicate ligament) last December while playing for Houston

I think Doughty is the long term plan. Yates has experience. They are thinking playoffs. You dont want a raw rook coming in. Yates at least can play manager and the bright lights are that bright to him. Also, Tannehill will likely be back playoffs or week 17. Doughty is a project and they are working on building him the right way…least that’s how I see it.
