Dolphins Mini-camp: Look back at Day 1

The Dolphins three-day mini-camp, even though the players still have not put on the pads, there was still plenty to be seen. We are less than 3 months away from the start of the regular season, but the hard work and dedication that is needed to produce wins during the season start now.

There is one thing that I am noticed during this year’s OTAs, and mini-camp that I have not seen in past years is that the overall talent on this roster has been upgraded to the point that even bubble players for the 53 man roster look capable to contribute. There are going to be some pretty decent players that are going to get cut from the Dolphins this year. Football betting software fans would admit that this is a good thing because if good players are getting cut, that means the players that are making the team are even better. Players such as Terrence Fede, Jalil Brown, Harold Hoskins, Anthony Johnson, and Stephen Williams are all turning heads by making plays and showing off their athleticism. All of these players are fringe players, that are giving everything they have to make the roster. Competition breeds performance, and these players are pushing fellow teammates to play better as well. These are all very good signs of a team that is ready to take the next step and play in January.

Another positive sign is that the players seem to have a little bit more energy compared to past years. I am not sure if it is a result of a more up-tempo offense or just excitement of being back on the field, or that they are finally buying into Philbin’s system, but they definitely seem to be a bit more hop in everyone’s step this off-season. Tannehill also seems to be taking on more of a leadership role on the team, which again is another good sign. Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that this team is going to be a powerhouse this season, but they appear to have more confidence in themselves, and there seems to be a lot of good things going on in camp, which often translates into winning football games during the regular season. As always, each new year brings hope that this year will finally be the year the Dolphins can put it together and make the playoffs. However, until the actual games are played, all we as Phins fans have now is hope.
