Miami Dolphins Continue To Get Disrespect

Most Fans have changed their opinion on the Dolphins direction, today Miami can get end the disrespect.

Most fans have changed their opinion on the Dolphins direction, today Miami can get end the disrespect.

Miami’s disrespect  ‘is due to’ close wins and beating few good teams.

Even though the Maim Dolphins have clinched the Playoffs they are still getting disrespect.

Today Miami will be hosting the New England Patriots in the last game of the season — the ‘best’ team in the conference.

As we have said before, if Miami can win, combined with a Kansas City Chief loss against the San Diego Chargers, then Miami would earn the 5th seed and a date with the Houston Texans.

However, most don’t see much of a chance of that happening.

And with news that Michael Floyd, the ex-Cardinals receiver, being activated, and that the Dolphins have a depleted secondary, is feeding the fires that Miami doesn’t have a chance.

Floyd has displayed big play talent over his career. But, after legal troubles, and two sub-par seasons, he was cut and pick-up by the Patriots. In theory, Floyd is the best wide-out talent in New England since Randy Moss. But, the actuality of that is still a mystery.

Miami recent history of failure has added to the disrespect they are receiving.

This disrespect is being reflected in the Dolphins being a -9.5 underdog at home. But, last year they were a -10 point underdog, and we remember how that went.

The best pay per head bookie service in the world opened up the Patriots as the -9 point favorite last Sunday evening, and the line has been pretty steady since. It has bumped up to as high as -10 for the Patriots, and at the moment it is holding at -9.5 for the Pats. The action is coming in more on the Patriots, at almost a 3 to 1 ratio for New England. Both teams have said that they are going to play their starters, and both teams would like to end the regular season with a win. A win for the Patriots would allow them to officially lock up the number one seed in the AFC, which is not something they want to let slip through their grasps this season.

The Dolphins have defied the odds all season. And even after securing a spot in the playoffs last week, after a thrilling victory on the road in Buffalo, Miami has not received any respect from the odds makers or media.

Most are giving the Dolphins zero chances of winning this game, and for that matter, even keep this game close. However, this Miami team has shown all season long, that they don’t need anyone to give themselves a chance to win, besides themselves.

I’m not saying that the doubters stance is unwise — but what I am saying is, if Miami can shatter the odds and win more than just a victory today. I think even if they make it a close game and lose, they will change the minds of many; but, if they win, they will force the respect of even their most ardent detractors. Go Fins!!!

Wow! Lively debate. I return from my trip to the game and return to this.
Bottom line for me is this:
    got a coach
got some players and will work on filling holes in free agency and draft
made the playoffs which I did not expect, was simply hoping for winning season
this team is on the rise
Win or lose at the Steelers, this has been a successful season. Amen!
    Go Phins!

NICEEE…you went. Win or not that must have been good times. Agree Fritz on the direction of this team. Now, I’m not saying this team will ever be a championship team under Gase, but it will be competitive…But, I think Gase will elevates this team and with some breaks in talent acquisition department, Miami can go very far. Maxwell returning will help tremendously for this defense, so I’m not counting them out. One thing though, Urbik was drafted by the Steelers, so they know him well…it could be a limiter on the run game…we’ll see. Can’t wait. If it’s competitive, win or lose, I’ll be positive. Don;t want to see a blow out though…want some good mojo going into the offseason if it’s a loss. Hope your trip was a good one!!!

I agree Admin., if it is a blowout such as the Pats game appeared to be (even though I did not see it that way, 2 plays away from being a possible fantastic finish), I don’t believe this team will carry that into next season. Once these players step on the practice field in ’17 for OTA’s etc, they will look around and see Jones, Isa, Pouncey, Maxwell, Tannehill, a few new LBers (better be) and their optimism should be through the roof.

If it were to be a blowout, the part that would bother me the most, would be listening to the national media dish our Fins. When it is us Fins fans that really understand what this team has overcome and just how many players this team is really playing without. Yet majority of the so called “experts” would say they didn’t belong there, etc. Well, they do, and Gase should be coach of the year, especially over Garrett. Not a team that endured the same amount and significant injuries this team has would be in this position (except maybe the Pats).

…yo Ross …Peyton Manning is talking to Irsay about doing an Elway in Indianapolis

…how about you make him an offer he can’t refuse to come to Miami instead

…rising young HC that he knows well …with a very young and talented team on the rise …just begging for cream-of-the-crop FO leadership to build a new dynastic era in south Florida

…nothing to think about here …just offer him the keys and a checkbook full of signed blank checks …then get ready to line up a few SB trophies on your brag wall

…you’ve got the ideal situation for him …Indianapolis is going to take forever to rebuild and Irsay really did him dirty in 2012 when he thought Peyton was finished …4 years and 2 SBs later, he doesn’t need Irsay or Indianapolis …the winters suck, eh

    …just do it

    …please

…yeah, I know …my version of fantasy football …but what if?

I think they are grooming Marino for a top position…not sure if he’ll end up GM, but he has been serious about making his mark in the organization for a year or two now.

      • Lemmus

…if it’s a choice between Manning and Marino, I’ll take Manning.

…Marino was a highly skilled player but not a football guru like Manning …Peyton lives and breathes it, Marino not so much …he’s had several chances to take top jobs in the FO and always turned them down or never really committed to them

…Manning is actively seeking the opportunity to do what Elway did in Denver …it’s why he’s talking to Indy …but Miami would be a much better opportunity for him

…not going to happen of course …sigh …gonna hate the Colts in a few years, we are 🙁

        • admin

totally agree. Marino was instinct he couldn’t tell you most of the time where the ball was going till it was snapped. Manning is highly cerebral and knew most of the time what was going to happen before it did. I just see (like you) each QB going to work for their franchise. Yeah,Marino turned down the opportunities a couple of times…I think now his T.V. career is done, so he is going full force into football again.

Dolphins truly have their share of injuries and really should be commented for having a successful season and considering we have not seen a play off since 2008 is a breath of fresh air.

We must continue to rebuild. Alabama Tim Williams would be a great addition. The issue that caused the Dolphins to Stalled must be address but drafting the Best Line Backer ,O/L, D/L, etc. cannot be overlooked.

FSU and Alabama I would think are the best coach. We must constantly looked for a young QB in the Draft for down the road, Keep in mind Doll Fans there are 18 year old QB’s wining national Title and Runner up for Heisman Trophy’s.

Lou Holtz back In the day convinced me that you can out coach another coach.

Injuries have to be a mitigating circumstance. Foster, Albert, jones, Tunsil, Quddus, jenkins, Mitchell, Maxwell, Pouncey, Tannehill, Parker, Misi and Williams all missed time. That’s alot of players and some a top end talent of the roster. That def. a big plus to Gase to overcome them.

  • Dunner

It is all good. If there’s such a thing as a good lose, this would be it. Move onto Pitt. and some how find a way to beat them. I’ll take a third shot at the Pats. All the pressure would be on them. 1 game, anything could happen. After all, we score instead of a Williams fumble (basically returned), we would have been within a score. May have seemed little, but vs the Pats you have to seize every opportunity to beat them, and a score there, sure would have made for a much better finish. If we are lucky enough to face them again, the Pats know we are going to come in a swinging.

On to the Steelers. The J-Train could roll once again vs this team, and that is what it will take. Keep Ben and comp. off the field, control the clock, get Maxwell back, good opportunity for our 3 CBs to breakout, at least in the Nations eye(s). Would be a bit easier if we were to knock Ben out early again.

PLAYOFFS!!! PLAYOFFS!!! PLAYOFF!!! Yes baby, 2016 season includes a playoff trip with the balance to be determined. Nice start for this coach and his staff, nice building foundation from the bottom on up. We all know there are holes to fill, the position this team is in, a few players (LBs/Guard) in ’17 and a 11-5, 12-4 record absolutely would not be a surprise.

Tanny is our QB moving forward. Took me a long time to actually say that without disagreeing.

Front Office must look at high priced vets that are on IR. I know injury can not be accounted for, but we have 28+ million $ on IR right now. The most in the league by far. Minny and the Bears are in the 20 million range, but Minny has 22 players on IR and the Bears have 15 compared to our 11. That is a lot of coin with no return.

J-Train should be as good if not better in ’17. Return of Pouncey or another version of him. Probably a RG and Ajayi should eclipse 1400 yards and 10 tds. That would be comparable to his ’16 season with room to improve (on active roster week 1, and play in weeks 2/3 as well).

    Tanny should again improve.

WRs group should be one of the best in the league if they retain Stills. Dedicate Jordan Cameron’s salary for Still 7-8 million/year. Still a very solid group without.

Kiko could even have a bigger year in ’17 with a few serviceable LBers next to him.

CBs group could blossom into top 3 in the league.

Will be amazed if Wake has 10 sacks again next year, but not surprised, especially seeing more snaps early in the season. He had 5 sacks taken away due to penalties, and basically didn’t play the first 4 games. Reverse those few variables and he could have lead the league. Beasley 15.5, Wake 11.5

Sims seems to be coming into his own, teamed up with a high drafted TE, and we could have a nice 1-2 combo. Re-sign Sims.

Return of Jones and a healthy 17′ season can only lead to BIG things for Miami’s defense. Hoping for a healthy recovery for Isa as well.

Have a feeling, free agents are going to want to come here. How refreshing is that?

Playoffs are a whole new season. This what they play for. Records are thrown out. Win or go home. This team has played well, and they have been rewarded. Hope they can take advantage of their opportunity. Either way, all we will see and hear about are the playoff team all week. That is ok with me because we are a part of it again. Let everyone and their mother pick the Steelers, they all did back in week 6 and we’ll some how win to head to NE.

A little reminder of the week 6 game:

The Pats game was gravy. For those melting down and saying this season isn’t an accomplishment are as deluded as those who believed Philbin could do no wrong…just different end of the spectrum. This season beat the money guys expectations by 3 games and made the playoff after falling into a big hole, suffered loads of injuries and with a rookie staff. The arrow is pointing up. The game had big swings from both sides and a terrible call and huge turnover — 2 plays — decided the game. But, the game wasn’t decided until the mid third early 4th.

  • phinfreak

Now after watching the game everyone is an expert? WTF? How did that “knee injury” effect Brady on that scramble for a 1st down? Where were all those highlights of Rambo’s college days and the other bum that plays S? When will they teach Lippett how to tackle? Do the ‘Olphins have any LBers?

Many here were drinkin the kool aid again, hoping, wishing, because there’s nothing else to do against Belichick, Brady and that talent laden roster.

The Fins are what I thought they were…well improved team due to coaching, scheme, play calling, and a couple pieces i.e. WR, RB that are better players. But this team has tons of holes all across the roster.

Sure, 10-7 isnt bad, not bad at all …. especially when you havent had a winning season in like foreverrrrrrr.

But please stop with the ridiculous hope and expectation that this team is anything more than a one-and-done WC playoff game away from ending their season. But hey, that’s ok, its better than the last 10 years.

    Steelers 34
    Fins 13

    • Dunner

Phinfreak, We are in the Playoffs. Can your team say that? Haven’t heard from you the last 11 games, oh thats right we were 9-2, why would we. Go ahead and pick the Steelers and route against the Fins and hope we lose. If this team comes up short so be it, we are here to stay because the future is heading in the right direction, finally. I can bet if the Steelers were playing without their starting Center, TE, both safeties, CB, 2 Lbers, oh yea and their QB they wouldn’t be in the playoffs??? Not here, not this team, the culture has been transformed and winning is expected once again.

J-Train rolls for another 200 Sunday. HOOT!!! HOOT!!!

      • Lemmus

…look up “irascible” or “curmudgeon” on google and either case, you’ll find a pic of PhinFreak 🙂

…thing is, though I heartily disapprove of the way he says it, I can’t really disagree with much of what he says …teams do come out “flat” and on any given Sunday, Belicheat and Deflate can be beaten by an otherwise injury ridden and mal-coached opponent ,,,but this past Sunday, we got our ass whopped by a much better team and coaching staff …just the way it was

…we really had nothing on the line yesterday, win or lose …and the Pats did …end of story

…this coming Sunday, we play a perennial playoff team in their stadium in their weather …but both teams will have everything on the line …win or die …its that simple …won’t either team be coming out “flat” this week …odds say the Steelers, but screw the odds makers …on any given Sunday, eh

        • admin

“well improved team due to coaching, scheme, play calling, and a couple pieces i.e. WR, RB that are better players. But this team has tons of holes all across the roster.”

          1) All teams have holes, good coaching avoids them being exposed.
          2) Scheme on D isn’t that good.
          3) play calls on O cost them the 1st Qtr and a half. And a call on D killed momentum in the 3rd. Player were put in a horrible position…maybe if we had Ed Reed, Rod Woodson and Singletary it would have worked.

“How did that “knee injury” effect Brady on that scramble for a 1st down?” You did notice the huge brace on his knees after the slide which they were picking grass out of…or was that a fantasy?
Also, the point about his knee was taken out of context and you did an MSN on what I had said…typical.
      Phinfreak quote:
“The Fins are what I thought they were…well improved team due to coaching, scheme, play calling, and a couple pieces i.e. WR, RB that are better players. But this team has tons of holes all across the roster.”
Before you crawled off under a rock for a few months you proclaimed Dolphins were a .500 win team, Tannehill sucked and Gase wasn’t going to be jack and never did jack…right?!.

…here are QUOTES of your hits.
Phinfreak quote: “Also, you refer to Gase as a “whisperer” because he was QB/OC with Peyton Manning, who is more of a OC than Gase given Manning called his own plays and ran the old Colts’ offense -this is quite a stretch – stupid stretch given what I just wrote. And to further the stupidity – Gase worked no miracle with Jay Cutler. For context, simply look up the Bears’ offensive ranking and production. AGain an example of stupidity woven throughout your article. He did nothing with Peyton, nor did he whisper anything with Cutler. What has Gase accomplished as a result of his coaching acumen? What years of experience does he bring as head of anything at any level? What QB did he develop? Nobody – thats a fact.”

      Another winner: :”
“Again, this article’s premise is pure unadulterated stupidity. To suggest you or anyone can evaluate or even pass judgement on the efficacy of a HC by his press conference demeanor and whether he looks you in the eye etc. is pure hogwash and amature writing.

There is nothing, nothing, to suggest Gase will be successful here based on his interview, nor his demeanor. In fact, I personally dont like his demeanor, nor any of his answers. Im friggin tired of the canned responses like ” …the process…” and “…evaluate what tannehill is good at…” etc. What fucking specifics did this clown give regarding his so called “vision”? What is his player personnel vision? What is his assessment of this roster? besides the stale “…Ive only seen tannehill once during preseason while at Denver…’ bullshit?
Keep drinking your kool aid mates.
You wanna see a friggin loser on TV? watch Tannenbaum. He’s a perfect example of a wannabee.”

One more for the road: “It won’t take long to find out if these rooks can coach. I’m not optimistic given Gase did not choose experienced coordinators.

I don’t know expect much difference in the end result.

      At best it’s a .500 season”

      https://phinsnews.com/miami-dolphins-news-the-case-for-adam-gase-part-1-demeanour/

You say curmudgeon… I’d use a more common vernacular for him. You do notice, I quote and don’t cherry pick, paraphrase and use snippets to create a story that suits me?!

  • Lemmus

    …the defense wasn’t pretty
…but then we knew going in that it was the weak point
…what we didn’t know was whether the offense could keep up
…and that was up to Gase, not Joseph

…fact is, we were flat on both sides of the ball today
…much as we were in the Ravens game

…and much as I like what Gase has done with what he had
…there is no question who was the better HC today

…Steelers will be tough in the cold, and they are in better shape injury wise
…but its been 16 long years since we won a play-off game …we’re due,

    • admin

Gase has had slow starts most of the year — that must change. But, that call on 3rd 7 was terrible…It was near ridiculous. Yeah, Rambo could have made the tackle, but you then betting on a back up S to tackle the best WR on the team or give up a big play. Also, Rambo was not ‘on” him and had to go to him which makes it tougher. I just get very uncomfortable with some of Joseph’s calls. To me, they sometimes are huge head scratches. Why in such a crucial situation would you bet it all on that play…3rd and 7! How about get a CB up in his grill and challenge him at the line…we were going to be Press Zone. No? Again, it’s not to paint Gase as doing a great job. I thought he came out slow as usual, but when it was a 6pt game that defensive call killed it, and then it was followed by a fumble. Fumbles happen, don’t like it, but he was fighting and the D made a great play. But, load up the box leave the best Wr to run free with a near empty top of the D…with Brady who gets the ball out in less than 3 sec….beyond me.
To me, when Joseph gets nervous he just sends heavy blitzes…and losses alot. But, to his defense, yes better talent would help him on all fronts, but a bad calls are bad calls.

    • phinfreak

Being “flat” is an excuse. There is no “flat”, but there is running into a far superior team that makes you look impotent. That’s what happened yesterday, not a lack of emotion. Better is better. Much better makes you look pretty bad. Then fanatics come up with rationale and excuses for why we lost the game. It’s simple really. Fins have 2nd and 3rd line players a key positions, and even if the 1st line players were there we’d still be inferior. The other guys have a better HC, coaching staff, QB, and entire roster.

That’s why Fins lost. Simple. Nothing to do with emotion.

      • admin

Branden Albert “just one of those day” I.E. FLAT (from Ravens game)
        http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/miami-dolphins/92046058-132.html

Flat simply means not emotionally invested as they should…happens in all sports: motivation is a key components, they aren’t robots. It’s not all about talent or there wouldn’t be upsets. This one one of your more ridiculous statements. This isn’t to say it’s always about emotion, but to dismiss it is ridiculous. 3rd Qtr, 6 pt game, late 3rd Qtr near 6 pts game, but for a turn-over: that isn’t a blowout or out classed. Pats are better coached…and they should be Belichick has been coaching 40 years 15 or so as HC. They lost more due to coaching than talent. Patriots have alot of weakness, but they are covered up by good coaching and disciplined play….and the addition of floyd didn’t hurt either….

  • Lemmus

    …wish I’d not watched that

    …1st drive …3 and out …minus 3 yds
    …2nd drive …2 and out …interception

…zero sacks …their OL beat our DL …run and pass

…so here’s the thing …we got the bad game out of the way when it counted least

…now for the good game …where we finally win one when it does count

…and no matter what happens next, the fins earned MY respect this year …and my best hopes for the coming one 🙂

    • admin

For me a few things hit that bother me:
Cardinals cut Floyd for no reason late…Pats get him. It will be big for them.
Dolphins again start slow. Gase comes out too conservative.
That jackass call by Joseph in the 3rd that led to the big play…what was he thinking?
Can we throw other passes instead of crossing routes?
      Silly penalties — please stop.
Can Joseph get creative on the line to produce pressure, or is he just gonna blitz everyone? Not very creative as a coach. Maybe exp will help.
OVerall, Miami could have made a game out of it even after a poor start. 1 idiotic play call and 1 fumble changed the game.
Pats let you bet yourself…and Miami did on several fronts.
