Carson Wentz Meets With Dolphins

Wentz

This is the time of year when fans are looking closely at the College prospects that will be entering the upcoming draft. One such player that is gaining some early steam is Quarterback Carson Wentz from the 5 time defending NCAA Division I-FCS North Dakota State Bisons. Along with half of the league, Miami has met with Carson, according to Wentz. The reason for this meeting could range from due diligence, to gamesmanship, to actual interest in making the pick.

Wentz is a risk / reward prospect because he is not from the more competitive Division 1-FBS division, which is rare for NFL teams to want to use a high draft pick on considering that the level of competition is not nearly as high. Many football gambling fans believed that Wentz is worthy enough to be selected sometime in the second round. However, with Wentz’s recent participation in the Senior Bowl practices, some NFL experts now believe he has the chance to be the top drafted QB. That is quite a jump for a player from Division 1-FCS. This rise could very well be because the rest of the QB prospects in this draft are being evaluated as not being so talented.

In Wentz first year as a starter for the Bison’s in 2014 he threw for 3,111 yards and 25 touchdowns, and led his team to it’s 4th consecutive FCS Championship. Last year, he suffered a broken wrist. However, after coming back from his injury, in the 7 games that he played in, he threw for 1,651 yards, 17 touchdowns, and only 4 interceptions. He also added 6 running touchdowns, another FCS Championship, and was named to his second straight All-American team.

The one very encouraging thing about Wentz is that he played in a pro-style offense, playing under center, and made many NFL type throws, unlike Paxton Lynch, which is considered one of the top QB prospects. He is an accurate passer, even on his deep passes, and he plays calm and comfortable in the pocket. He does have a tendency to lock in on receivers, and also needs some work throwing the ball on the move.

Miami’s interest in Wentz likely would end if he were in the top 10 as they have too many other needs that need to be addressed. But, the fact that they have interest is interesting in itself. I believe TannehilI will certainly improve if everything is improved around him, but the question is will he play as the 18 million dollar a year QB his contract demands he play like. The only way I could see Miami taking Weintz is if they are sold on him, trade back, pick up an extra pick and use the later 2nd to get him. A good barometer on how they view Tannehill is where and if they draft a quarterback – it will be the interest interest within the interest of the 2016 Draft. What are the rest of the Miami Dolphins news fans thought about the Dolphins showing interest in drafting a QB in this upcoming draft?

Carson Wendz most likely will be taken by the Brown at 2 pick. But if he was on the board at 8th pick the Dolphins need to draft him because he falls into A Value player requardless of need.

How well did Wendz performed during the seinior Bowl? Another questioned that I would ask is how accurate is he under pressure? Also threre are 3 QB’s in this draft to help make the Dolphins a wining team.

Lastly! The Miami Dolphins cannot rolled into 2016 placing all eggs in basket on Tannehill Performanc. The fins need a serious young protoype QB to come in and play if T continues to regress.

Dolphins 2015 season Miami only won 3 out of the 1st 8 games played. A QB moved should have been intiative then. I really believed that the Dolphins are not serious about winning and now asking the fans to buy another season of this mediocre.

The Denver Bronco’s needed two serious Quarterbacks to make it to the Supper Bowl. Or use the Dolphins approached????

I could have been the qb for the broncos. With that defense Tannehill would have made the playoffs

The smart play by Fins would be to trade down at leDt once and accumulate late 1st plus early and mid 2nd rounders.

But then again these a ARE they Fins.

Defensive Tackles are plentiful in the 1st round. Preferably if that was the case of sliding back for more picks. The Dolphins would have these DT in the 1st round to choose from.

Our first pick should be MLB
Our second pick should be an offensive Guard
after that there are many positions that could use an upgrade or a quality backup that could challenge for a starting job (corner; RB; Tackle; Safety; Fullback; TE; DE) – taking a QB with our third pick could save us 5+ million because that might mean releasing Matt Moore our current backup QB
So who are we targeting in free agency ?? I hope one of them is Evan Mathis as a Guard. Even if its just for one year it helps solve a big problem that we have at Guard

Ralph, I’m by no means a “draft – college” expert, but in my cursory evaluation, I like Scooby in the early third, late second (if more picks are acquired) to play the MLB spot. If could go a thousand ways – but I’d say top O-line talent, true #1 CB and SLB pass rusher are the most crucial aspects that need to be focused on early due to the talent that each of these positions requires. If Ray Lewis were available, then yeah. I don’t know if that kinda’ talent will be around at #8 (or anywhere in this draft)…or if Miami trades back. Also, we don’t know if Miami will lose out on Vernon, then DE becomes a priority as well. FA is so crucial this season as they must alleviate some needs in-order to make the most of the draft.

Maybe I’m wrong but I dont see a MLB worth the 1st round pick in this draft for the Dolphins.

      Rank a 1st round about 14th pick.

      Reggie Ragland

      PM-GM

It seems that good ILB’s get fewer and fewer, but last years draft had Bednarick McKinney projected as a 1st Rd pick but was not selected till 2nd rd 8th pick (by Texans so do they get another ILB when they have Him and Cushing-think not), However because of the scarcity of Mike LBs Ragland could and should in the 1st, the question remains being somewhere in talent between CJ Mosley and A.Depreist which side is Ragland closer to, I believe He makes a better Pro in theNFL. DLS

All other ILB Jump to Kendrell Brothers from Missouri in the 2nd round about 55th pick and on to 7FA round etc.

The three QB’s listed above all are a good FIT for the Dolphins!
Who has won the biggest College Games?
Who can score more than 24 Points a game?

I believe that Value players will always contribute more than team needs! Tom Brady is a Value Player and over a decade the Pats have made Due.

I don’t see them expending a 1st. Maybe, it they get extra picks and move up into the late 1st…but even then I don’t see it. 2nd and beyond is how I see it. And even 2-3 might be a stretch unless they acquire more picks, do very well in FA and then a coveted QB is sitting there for them. Miami also kinda’ made an extended move to keep Logan, so it also all depends on their eval. of him. Value to me is always primary, unless you are a piece or two away and the team window is there, then you can go for need…but, then that means you screwed up in FA. Thanks for the vids. I’ll look them over as my wife permits!!! :O
