Bring It On

emotional content

New interim head coach Dan Campbell is not wasting any time in his quest to bring the intensity back to the Miami Dolphins football team. The Dolphins only had one practice this week, but the Wednesday practice was full of intensity generated by live hitting, something that this team and players have not seen in many years. It reminded me of the famous Bruce scene in Enter The Dragon about emotional content.

Campbell instituted the famous Oklahoma drill which pairs players against each other mono y mono and lets them go full out and hit each other to see who can out power who. I remember this drill myself when I played high school football, and it was always a great drill that got everyone pumped up and ready to play hard.

After the practice ended and the media was able to talk with the players, there were lots of positive reviews on their first practice with their new head coach. The Dolphins penchant for coming out flat in every game is directly correlated to a lack of intensity by the coach and players. So the best pay per head reviews of increasing the practice intensity should hopefully carry over to Sundays during game time.

This is a great start for the new coach and hopefully, this intensity continues next week and the team can finally wake up, and start playing smart, tough and hungry football. If the entire team can step up their intensity level, then the results on Sundays could be significantly different. Sure there is a ton of fundamental things that need to be cleaned up on both offense and defense, but a high-intensity level can make a world of difference and is a great starting base to begin to get better.

The Dolphins maybe 1-3, but there is still time to turn things around, With a lot of sub-par records in the AFC, the Dolphins have a CHANCE to make up some ground quickly if they can start winning. The Dolphins face a young Tennessee Titan team next Sunday that is 1-2 at the moment and could be a perfect team to play in order to get back on the winning track. Then the Dolphins play another sub-par team in the Texans who are 1-3.

If this Dolphin team can finally start playing some inspired football then there is a CHANCE the Phins can get back to a 500 record and back in the race. Clearly, I am being optimistic and hoping for the best, but if Philbin truly was the problem, which we all believe he was, then this team may be able to turn things around quickly. What does the rest of the Miami Dolphins news fans think about the new direction of this team, and if Dan Campbell can be a difference-maker?

  • Ralph factors in that upper management need’s to be revisited at years end. Phinfreak also brings facts to the table, talent? Dunner also point’s out that we missed out on drafting a tight-end and two that were obvious. As a Phin fan we all know what we passed up on in three year’s A running-back, tight-end, OFFENSIVE-linemen, and our line-backing core. That being said…. We cannot un-ring the bell for this year!! But Ross is aware as the fan’s are mistakes were made in our drafting!! To say the least.. We drafted players with talent BUT not the players we needed. (IN ORDER.) Example, Our number one choice was a receiver, hello it should have been a OFFENSIVE lineman!! We do have 75 to 80% of the players in our locker room. Yes, some are average at best. We can only hope that our new coach can bring the continuity needed, and play with a passion to win!!!The game is only(60-minutes) long.. Now is the time to see what we have and Coach our A–ses off. Tannehill should be tested to see if he can throw long with SOME continuity. Time to see if our running back’s can run or not!
If we cannot open a hole for someone who has that second faster to break away, then find some-one off a practice squad. There is talent out there!!!!!!!! FIND IT and sign them. Quit
the lame excuses.!?#* The season is not over!!!! Time to step-up and play the game the way it should be played.

I’m excited to see a different more aggressive team on Oct.18. I don’t see this laying down the remainder. I believe we will get an inspired effort guys flying around. Assuming that this staff allows them to fly around, which I think is what this staff is going to be all about. Some threat of a running game will help the O-Line in both phases, will also help Tanny.
Believe this staff will get the ship pointed in the right direction and have a competitive team that will fight for the playoff position.

Camp can improve play and intensity but he won’t be able to cover for lack of talent. This is a .500 roster and I’ve said this all along.

The problem is Ross. He hires poorly. Tannenbaum is proof of that.

Make no mistake. Until Ross takes a hike or finds a legit football executive fins will continue to struggle.

Fire Ross by not buying tickets. It’s the only way.

As much as I was trying to support Philbin he absolutely lost me when he made the statement that he thought the OL was doing OK The whole world knew there was a big problem and he refused to believe it. I hope coach Dan gets in a couple of tight ends to help block for Tanne. We have enough receivers to catch lets hope this kid understands the real problem with this team. I feel this kid will do what Philbin and co. couldn’t. All I believe he has to do is get a couple of tough TE’s and set them back like fullbacks and block their asses off! Not too hard.

Tannebaum is a big contributor to our problems
his signing of Suh for all that money puts a strangle hold on the team, his giving Tannehill that big contract even though we did not need to, his refusal to sign Mathis knowing we needed him, and now not recognizing that our front line is our weakness he should have already signed Sotile and let him take over at center and move pouncy to right guard
The drafting of Phillips second round when we desperately need a middle linebacker and a guard was not the right move in the second round
Then not drafting a fullback or signing one in free agency to help block or open holes another mistake
We need to score more than the opposition like in the Marino days, but right now we cannot run the ball and cannot throw deep passes and the QB doesn’t have time to even find receivers because of poor play from front line so we end up with no offense and no defense
Why why did we not sign Mathis it wasn’t money because he signed for 2 million, we did not even start talks with his agent – and now end up with more than 18 million under the CAP when we could have signed a few more quality players
Horrible planning by the front office just horrible
Get rid of Tannebaum we are bound to be better off without him
Problem is he is Ross’s friend from NY
So that brings the problem right back to Ross and his unconventional loyalties at the expense of the team

      Ralph,

I agree. However, Philbin thought the O-Line would be fine. Maybe he discouraged Tannenbaum and Hickey from spending the money? We drafted Phillips to pave the way to let Mitchell go and save money. However, I agree, the 2nd round pick should have been for an OG or LB! Good points!
