Be Careful What you Wish for

Every of the pay per head services sites like AcePerHead.com in the world is aware of deflate-gate, and Tom Brady’s suspension of the first 4 games of the season. Brady is in the process of appealing the suspension, which will be heard on June 23, but it would be extremely likely that Roger Goodell does not keep the 4 game suspension in place. Frankly, I feel that the penalty should have been much steeper, especially considering that Brady vehemently denied having anything to do with the deflated balls, but I guess when you are the poster boy of the NFL you get some slack when it comes to lying and cheating.

Even if Brady has to serve the full 4 games, the rest of the league better watch out for the Patriots, and I am not just referring to cheating. Last season after the Patriots were blown out at home on Monday night football in the fourth week of the season against the Kansas City Chiefs, the media was immediately calling this the end of a dynasty in New England, and saying that Brady was going downhill. Well, we all saw what happened after that game, the Patriots won the next 7 games in a row and finished the season out by going 10-2, and then taking that momentum all the way to another Super Bowl victory.

So as much as Brady missing the first four games are going to be a good thing for the rest of the AFC East teams, it also is a double edge sword, because Brady does not need extra ammunition or chalkboard material to motivate him. Brady is one of the most competitive sports athletes of this century, he is the Michael Jordan of the NFL, and most football gambling fans would bet that Brady is going to be on a mission this season when he does complete his suspension. The former 6th round pick does not need any more incentive in his career to prove people wrong, and this is something that Brady is going to take personally when he finally is allowed to take the field.

One good thing besides Brady missing some games is that as good as he is, he will still need a game or two in order to get into the swing of things. So hopefully the Patriots lose at least 2 of their first four games of the season (games that Brady will not be playing as long as Goodell sticks to his guns) and hopefully, the Pats lose his first game back against the Colts. That would mean they would have a 2-3 record and not much room for error for the remainder of the season. However, if anyone can go nearly perfect in the last 11 games of the season it would be Tom Brady and the Patriots.

People are forgetting that even though Brady will be suspended and he and the Pats will use that as ammunition for the remainder of the season, the Pats lost a lot defensively this off season. Their secondary is a mess and there doesn’t seem to be a immediate answer. No Vince Wilfork (seems he has been destroying Miami for 20 years), they draft Malcom Brown to replace Wilfork, and even though he may end up being the real deal, he will be a Wilfork in the beginning of his career. The Jordan analogy is on, however; when Jordan went to Washington, mediocrity followed. Don’t get me wrong when Jordan was in his prime he could have won with four Fhinsnews staff/members and him. That is just it, Brady is no longer in his prime. He does have Billacheat, but the supporting cast is not as good as it was last year. Just seems that everything has fallen right for Miami this off season (stars are aligned), and more than ever I believe the Pats will struggle on a weekly basis and that Miami will finally finish strong and prevail.
Jimmy the Pats got blown out @ KC last year not @ home, KC a place majority of teams lose. This is not going to be the same Pats team that is going to be a double digit favorite every week, and without Brady for the first four games they could very well start 1-3 (I would take a 2-2 start also).
It seems that the Pats sudden weaknesses (secondary = pass, D-line = pass rush) have all the sudden become the dolphins strengths (WRs/red zone = pass) . A favorable match up for the Fins. Oh yea, and we did bring Suh to seek and destroy Mr. Brady. Mr. Brady will be sitting back there with minimum of 6 red dot lasers all over him, hope his o-line is up to it (NOT).

Yes Dunner you are right that was my mistake the Pats game was in KC. Brady and the Patriots do historically well when they are challenged by the media or have their backs against the wall, so even though the Pats did take a hit on defense, they are still the champs until proven otherwise. I thought last season we were finally beginning to see some chinks in their armor and the dynasty begin to fade, however Brady and the Pats proved everyone wrong again. So even though on paper they look worse or less invincible, I have to see it to believe it. I believe everyone in the division has closed the gap on the Pats, but will that be enough. In one of our past articles we mentioned regular season win odds and odds to win the division and those still see the Pats as a better team. I hope the phins can prove them wrong and finally take down the Pats, but it won’t be easy – Go phins!!

I agree Jimmy. Some day they will falter, just like any other year, I am hoping that it is this year. All seems to be in place both sides, then again, it is Brady and Billacheat, until proven other wise, they remain the king.

I hope age starts to creep in this year and it is reflected in his production
Also he is more susceptible to getting hurt because he will slow down a bit and make him vulnerable to sacks
The Dolphins will break the record this year in sacks and we will sack him at least 4 times per game ( I hope)

    • Can you say *Super bowl to Sh*t house? I have a feeling that a lot of Pats fans may be looking for the next winning team’s band wagon to jump on. Especially the ones who didn’t know that New England had a team before Brady. lol

Brady hates being under duress and the games we win against the Pats is usually because we have him running for his life the entire game. I would love to see us do that two times this season
